A fact most people don't know is that *The Nightmare Before Christmas* was nominated for the Best Visual Effects Oscar for its stop-motion animation. No other animated film before or since has been nominated in that category, which is usually reserved for live-action movies. The other nominees that year were *Jurassic Park* and *Cliffhanger.* The winner was *JP,* of course.
I watched almost every night with my oldest son when he was 4 years old. I once was able to say every word, sing every song! Best part was being with my baby boy.
I LOVE how Disney has come to embrace Nightmare. As Minty notes, they were too afraid to call it a Disney Film and made it Touchstone. But now its PROUDLY called a Disney Film. Not the most creative thing to do, but then again, the major studios aren't really in the business of being creative or making movies, they're in the business of making money and movies are just how they do it. Ahhh ive been waiting for this! Actually i knew almost all that you talked about. Ive loved and researched this movie since the beginning. Great work minty! Happy holidays!
Nightmare Before Christmas did get published as Poem and Story book before it was made in to a movie. You can buy it in the US :)
I love Burton's weird ass movies💞💞💞
Hopefully you can do The Corpse Bride next!
I love this movie and I'm glad it exists. Personally I don't want any sequels or remakes to this movie. The Nightmare Before Christmas is beautiful and perfect just the way it is thank you very much.
Jack also made an appearance in the "sleepy hollow" film, near the beginning when Depp's character first gets to the cursed town. He's standing in a field as the pumpkin king!
