    Interesting. More fun than making a dog stand on those "Happy Legs" type training aides. (Once saw a dog on those, alone, on a table, for LONNNNNG minutes. Alone! Nobody in sight to watch the dog!)
    One thing I do have an issue with is this trend of having the heads and necks cranked way up. To me, it emphasizes poor fronts and toplines.
    When I was showing, and was going to conf. seminars, the emphasis was on making the dogs look their best, and not doing what everybody else was doing. One of the things stressed was to have the dogs stand as naturally as possible, but "helping" them look better by good training.
    If a dog has a straight front, cranking the head and neck up makes it look straighter. If it has a sagging topline, cranking the head and neck up can emphasize that.
    And, I was also taught that the rear should be stacked with the legs straight up and down from the hocks on down - NOT stretched out to make the topline look like a ski slope. Front legs are also to be straight up and down, not camped out with the feet in front of the prosternum.
    I got so sick of the stupid trends, and WRONG handling (and non-characteristic breed trends) that WIN, I quit. I don't have the money it takes to campaign and win, especially if it means making sacrifices to the breed, and myself. The sport certainly isn't what it was when I started. Not missing it.

    Hi Eric, This is great! I’ve a 9 month old Lab. As a pup he’s still growing. Would his measurements for this ladder also change (as he gets bigger)? TIA!

    This ladder, can you buy that somewhere? 😊 And how does it work with dogs thats longer in back?

    Looks great but do you have to build a new ladder when the puppy grows ?

    • @EricSalasworkshops
      @EricSalasworkshops  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes
      Or make oversized as it is not critical as a puppy. Then fine tune as an adult.

    I'm gonna make this, looks fun!
    Was wondering with the black Russian Terrier will this work? I mean I can practice with her with her hair tied up but how will she read my body language and hand signals in the show ring when her hair is down?

    Hi Eric! I just watched this video. I've told you before that my Borzoi girl, Jolene watches your videos and sent you a video of it. Tonight she watched you and stepped up on the desk so she could get closer to you and whined. She is a scream. I hope that someday she can meet you, she is a fan! Happy New Year!
