Don't be afraid to ask for things like having the music turned down. They will almost ALWAYS oblige. My brother in law is a restaurant manager and I know for a fact if you went to his place he'd jump through hoops to please you.
Also, if you get good service from a place, or they have good food, spread the word. Also, let the manager know. All they ever hear, most of the time, is complaints. It is a big deal for them when someone reports especially good service or food.
That really goes for any service type thing. I was in the hospital for several days a few years ago. One of the nurses was extraordinary. Dispute being quite ill, and scared (I came very close to not surviving) she did so much to make me feel better.
I wrote a letter to her boss, telling them how good she was. I got a long letter of thanks back, AND she got a rise in pay, which was something she really needed.
Things like that really do make a difference, and it can really make someone's day to get a letter praising their work.
I love how when you give the "back" command, Harlow moves the back half of her body, and then the front. She's so cute!

I'm so excited for you! I definitely take for granted my independence to do "simple" tasks, watching your channel helps me to be more aware of the blessings I have in my life that I may not take notice of.

I'm so glad you are doing so well! I understand the feeling of having freedom to be independent and then leaving it taken away. I'm legally blind and have never drive a car, but when my health went bonkers I was gifted a power wheelchair that gave me freedom I didn't realize I was missing out on. That was in 2000. Since then my insurance has paid for two of them. My last one was in 2006. If I lived on my own, I would qualify for a new one, but since I live in a skilled nursinghome, my insurance will not cover one. I found reasons to leave the facility almost everyday, but several weeks ago, the main drive Axel broke! So now I'm cooped up in here and I am stuck! I feel like a caged bird, and I am not happy!!! LOVE and PRAYERS ALWAYS

Night shift is hard - my husband and I did night shift at the hospital (I'm an RN he is a PA) for quite a few years- but I had to leave my job when our daughter turned 1 because we NEVER saw each other, and no one was ever awake enough to take care of the baby, plus I also have several chronic illness so night shift and floor nursing was just too tough for my body. Off topic, sorry, my point is that night shift will definately need some getting used too and you will find out through trial and error what works best for your family!
I'm - 4.75 in either eye haha, my glasses look like coke bottles. Your mum is adorable, it's awesome how supportive all of your family are of you!
Walmart grocery pick up is a spoony's DREAM!! I have an autoimmune disease so when I'm fatigued I do the Walmart pick up & it saves me!

It's so exciting when you feel well enough to venture out on your own! Congratulations ! We have a handicapped bus service here that picks you up and drops you off in front of your house. If you have something like that where you live, it would give you another option to venture out on your own if you want to go somewhere but are too tired to drive.
The rest of the year? That's a long time to be on night shift =(
Jessica Jones I’m an RN. I worked straight 12 hour night shifts (7 pm-7 am) for five years.
Unfortunately it's not that uncommon. My partner worked nightshift for fifteen years with only one-two days off a week. Then he was made redundant and he now works 2 12 hour days, then 2 12 hour nights and four days off.
That is so awesome that they turned the music down! Now that is exceptional customer service and accommodation!

In my research to figure out whether I might develop joint issues in the future, as I fit some criteria for EDS I found out that bad nearsightedness (mine is considered high degree, about -8 ) and other eye problems (like astigmatism, strabismus, etc (which I also have) and similar) can also be connected to the tissue weakness caused by EDS. Do you know whether your nearsightedness might be connected to your EDS/do you know something about that correlation in general?
Hey! I have EDS and I also have astigmatism and nearsightedness. You are correct in saying that they are related. Additionally, EDS can cause tears in the eye tissue, although I haven’t heard of this commonly occuring in EDS patients. Hope that helped and I hope you can get a diagnosis soon!

fine piece of aspegers that’s really interesting, I never thought about there being a link between eyesight and other conditions! I’m the only one of my siblings (out of 4) who needs glasses so there could be a link!
Yep, same here. Nearsighted with astigmatism, EDS, etc. My cousins all had eye correction surgery when they are super little because they were crossing. They don't have other symptoms of EDS and haven't been tested, but I suspect it's EDS. Good luck to you.

I love that you and your mom have this great, funny, understanding relationship. Reminds me so much of MY mom -- how fiercely she fought for me as I was trying to get diagnosed, all the incredible laughs we had, and how patient she was. I said goodbye to her on 9/1/16 at age 91. I still have my wonderful dad at age 95...but there is nothing like a mama. Glad you count your blessings. I always did too.

The blanket is very pretty! The longer I have to wait for treatment of my Chiari Malformation, the worse my autonomic nervous system gets at controlling my body temp. It seems I'm cold more often, which is crazy since I live in Texas! I really hate what CCI and Chiari does when it paired together with EDS.
As someone who works in two restaurants you should never feel bad about asking to turn the music down ! Most of the time we don’t notice how loud it is being behind the counter and I really doubt any customer is then going to complain the music is too low 😂 I’ve had people ask to turn it down simply because they didn’t like what was playing, so you definitely shouldn’t feel bad
Do you think it would be appropriate to name the Irish restaurant you went to? It might help others in your area who have sensory issues as well to know of a place that was so accommodating. But I understand if you don’t feel it’s appropriate. But I’m glad they helped you and your Mom have a special meal out together!

Disney Gamer the blanket she got is made of muslin and that is the material often used for baby blankets. Having handled quite a few babies, I do know the material is very soft.

Well I’m a police officer my self. I was on night shift for 15 years. How I spent time with the family was when I got home at 6 I would sleep till 2 or 3 and stay up with a lot of coffee. That’s how I spent time with my family.

I just don't like going out to eat and you can't even have a discussion with somebody and makes it so unappetizing to me. That's really funny, I just got my eyes checked last week! I'm going back in tomorrow because I have finally decided that I want to try contacts. I think they will make life easy in some ways. Love the blanket. You are so lucky to have such a wonderful relationship with your mother, there is some mothers and daughters that don’t have that and unfortunately I’m one of them,, she lives about 5 miles away and I have teenage granddaughter’s that still live at home, but as sisters go there always bickering. I love my daughter so much and I wish that we had that relationship that you have. You’re very very lucky. On a funny note, my medium size dog kitty just loves to drag out all her toys just like Harlow. So I wait till later on in the evening and have her put them away. I need to purchase a better basket for her for her toys, she has a lid on it but she knows how to lift it, she’s a smart little cookie. I’ll have to go on Instagram and send you a picture of her she’s such a cutie. But there’s so many times I wish she wasn’t so cute because everybody wants to pet her for people come up without even asking to pet her. It’s an all ongoing training issue, because she thinks it’s OK that they come up and pet her and she is now walking towards them when she should be focusing on me. I thought well maybe I should just have a t-shirt made up that says “Please Do Not Pet My Service Dog”. But on the other hand I also thought maybe that wouldn’t even work. She wears patches on her vests and jackets and people still don’t see those. I’m so excited you had a wonderful day going out and just being yourself and being very independent.

My ex had at least one coffee shop/cafe they would go to where during quieter times the cafe were willing to dim the lights and music + my ex would curl up on the sofa. Not sure many places in London (UK) would do that to be honest!

Music in restaurants can be so annoying. I would recommend Thai food. They tend to not have any music and its super quiet and peaceful. :)

I notice that most restaurants have loud music. My dad is hard of hearing and I have asked to have the music turned down they were pretty nice about it.

That's chronic illness for ya! We have moments we need to push ourselves (we have things to do, too) and moments when we rest because the pain isn't worth spending the energy on. Jacquie *does* rest; we just don't see it as much because she doesn't film it.
Harlow is so well behaved and she cleans up! I love my kids to death and they are super helpful but they dont clean like Harlow!😎 Glad to see you having more better days.

Weird question, but I don't know a whole lot about EDS- I see other bloggers stretching their skin out for the camera (I know it's because EDS affects your collagen production) and I was wondering if you are able to do that too? I also heard it gives an unusual benefit of not getting any wrinkles on your face - just looking at it in a positive light!
