You need the brushroll on to clean carpet and to be honest your best leaving it on for all floors as it will sweep the dirt into the suction path. The brushroll also deep cleans carpets as it spins The bristles separate the pile and get the damaging grit from the base of the pile on hard floors having the brushroll on will remove the sticky dust on the surface
@@vinceandsharon33 good point will probably do that but once the warranty runs out I have the skills and tools needed to replace the batteries myself, I'll bet you a Dyson they are 18650 cells

Can you compare this to dyson v8 on low?
