What really sells this routine is the energy that Eric put into 'Baloo's' dance language. Eric was just incredible in being able to put comedy into dance. As with 'Singing In The Rain' and his comical feathering. No other mover like him.
Just seen three programmes on BBC2 tonight about Eric and Ernie. Just ideal to include what has been a perfect Christmas Day. And some of their Thames work was unbelievable. For quite a period at ITV during this period, they were without Johnny Ammonds and Eddie Braben, though they all reunited eventually. I actually cried watching them tonight because it dawned on me that we will never see anyone ever again as good as them. Thanks to Eric and Ernie and all who made their shows possible.
Thought I had seen all of their sketches until I saw this ... very funny. They to me will always be THEE best comedy duo from the UK ever... Very sadly missed.
The Jungle Book is my all time favorite Disney movie and seeing this amazing sketch featuring the late great duo Eric and Ernie as Baloo and King Louie is just pure gold thank you for sharing this amazing piece of work 👍❤️
I was born in 71, and often look back on comedy of old and think... OMG! How off Earth did we ever find that funny, but these two! Geniuses! Absolute legends of comedy!! As some else here said, no swearing, so innuendos, just pure talent! So true! ...yet my fave comedy ever is... The Young Ones! HAHAHAHA!!!! Also, Mowgli, brilliant! Almost outstared M&W!!! lol
In my humble opinion, this was morecambe, and wise finest hour. Incredibly funny, perfect timing, both gentlemen, a genius of thier time. God bless, I grew up with you two in my life. Thankyou both so so much. Both just Gentle and kind entertainers of the time. you are both sadly missed. 🙏❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏❤️
I can't thank you enough for posting this. My husband and I laughed so much and so loudly when we first saw this that we woke our children up. We'd caught it on video so were able to watch it again with them! I've never understood why this one has never been repeated - I think it's the funniest of all their programmes. Brilliant!
Just lucky enough to catch this on the TV years ago, and always considered it as one of their topmost sketches. But somehow until now it disappeared. A great many M and W fans will be very, very happy to catch it this time.
wow remember watching all those years ago, although it seems like yesterday, great great times and as funny now as then they can’t. date,,, thanks Gary
Like many on here, huge M and W fan 59 years old and don't remember this. So glad you shared this, a good laugh in these troubled times. So silly, its beautiful.
is that PC? Or me being over sensitive? Because i do think everything is too PC these days. My point was that in 2017 they was still showing talons of weng chiang so how can it be ok to show in 2017 but not now?
I just adore Morcambe and Wise, they were so clever and soooo funny! You must look for the sketch they did on "singing in the rain" where Erie plays the part of Gene Kelly dancing in the rain, sheer magic!
Good Lord!!!! How have never seen this before. I loved M&W but don’t recall this... fabulous by the way... but I never got past the Andrew’s sisters and Len Rossiter
Gary, I presume you are Eric's son, who I managed to contact pre youtube days. 1978, I was 11 years old when I was chosen to be Mowgli. Families like mine didn't have a Video Recorder back then. About 1991 you got me a VHS so I could watch it for the first time since the original broadcast. In 78 I was also included in the sting adverts. The experience remains one of my main life highlights of which i am quite proud. If of interest, I have a few original studio photo stills taken during filming.
Shouldn't your comment have been "I worked with Morecambe and Wise and look what happened to me". One for those that have seen the BBC best of show enough times to know it word for word.
Like the spoof of Tweety and Sylvester this immortalises these two as arguably best there's ever been.Modern comedy has not even left the starting blocks.!😂😂😂❤❤
You must also look for their sketch on Cleopatra; l can't remember who played Clio, but she was a serious actor, Erie played Mark Anthony's and Eric played a messenger from Rome, they a do a very funny silly dance, funny enough to make you cry!
Showing my age here😆my husband and I were newly engaged when The Jungle Book came out, the only seats left were right at the very front 😆the cinema was packed.
Now this sketch was done during one of their two 1978 specials for Thames which was the first year they worked for them, and those two specials were very good and on a par with the BBC shows. It seems after Eric's heart attack and surgery in 1979, the duo's output started to fail The returned to full series in 1980 and from that point on the re-hashing of BBC material was so evident with nearly 50-60% of a 30 minute show being re-used material from their BBC days. This was done to the fact that Eddie Braben didn't arrive at Thames until 1980 and took a while to settle in and write again for them, but the spark was gone by 1980 and these nuggets of comedy where a rarity in the Thames era.
Totally agree John they did have their moments at Thames but the BBC years from 68 - 77 were comedy at its finest from two legends at the top of their game. The greatest British double act of all time and will never ever be equalled
My pleasure - its been a revelation to watch their ITV stuff again and a joy to pass it on to TH-cam! Type in this: Morecambe & Wise - I Tawt i Taw a Puddy Tat - spoof Looney Tunes cartoon for more Eric and Ernie toons!
...Louis Prima and Phil Harris would be so proud that this is still around after all these years.
No swearing or sexual innuendos….just pure talent ❤️
Perfect timing, they were simply the best.
What really sells this routine is the energy that Eric put into 'Baloo's' dance language. Eric was just incredible in being able to put comedy into dance. As with 'Singing In The Rain' and his comical feathering. No other mover like him.
Well that certainly brought me a little bit of sunshine.

Oh, missmanxee… you’d be even more charmed if you read the original. I bet you’d revise your view of the movie…
Oh my goodness how I love this. I wish they would put more of them on tv. Absolutely brilliant!

You’ll never beat these two guys, good clean fun all the way!
I remember watching this when I was little. 🏴🏴 I wish I could go back!!! 💕💕

There will never be another team like Morcambe and Wise.
I wish they were here now to brighten this endlessly bleak and joyless world!

This and the Andre Previn sketches are my absolute favourites. They are like fun medicine. They never fail to make me laugh . Magic!
Oh my goodness, from 2.05 when 'Baloo' AKA Eric, starts to dance, I am howling with laughter... Simply brilliant... :0)x
Wonder how much time he needed to get used to dancing in that getup?
My dad's favourite - he cracked up so much when we first saw this. Good times. Thank you.
They can never be matched!!!! In this country or anywhere in this world!!!!!! They were the great of the great, and nice people!!!! 🐩🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I liked the Jungle Book remake, but I won't lie, it would've been hilarious if they had made it like this.
What do you mean this is the jungle book remake

wow remember watching all those years ago, although it seems like yesterday, great great times and as funny now as then they can’t. date,,, thanks Gary
I remember seeing this first time out and it's just as good as I remember it. Thanks.
So lovely. They were less popular then but still gave everything into their performance. And Derek Griffiths as Bagheera.
one of my top five eric and ernie sketches, very underrated and not at all well known. this deserves some great recognition.
I never even knew this existed! I was looking for the movie clip and saw this. Clicked so fast I sprained a finger. Thank you so much!
Can't get enough of these two, gave us sooooo much laughter over the years
GREAT....ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS !
Oh that's really special. I don't recall seeing that one when they were originally on or even seeing it since. Great upload.

Like many on here, huge M and W fan 59 years old and don't remember this. So glad you shared this, a good laugh in these troubled times.
So silly, its beautiful.
And Danny Rolnick who stars as Mogeli should have been nominated a tv award. It was great fun and have great memories
Wait a minute YOU'RE Danny Rolnick
Bet he really enjoyed this!
I saw this when it was originally shown on TV. Still makes me laugh! Thanks gary, and thanks M&W for the smiles you gave us.

I reckon everybody would be proud and feel immensely privileged to appear in a M and W show. The lucky ones made it.
Put them on TH-cam!!
