The recent interview Robert Llewelyn did with the Ford CEO makes it look like Ford have a chance to survive the EV revolution, and your review looked like you was genuinely enjoying the drive. Great stuff. And no, I can’t afford one either!
The original mustang design was meant to be sporty but practical for a family ie appeal to the women of the households too. The Mach-e is probably the first mustang to fully meet that requirement. Ref. Wikipedia two minutes ago.
Hey Gavin, we were both checking out the Seal at FieldDays, didn't want to interrupt you as you were shooting all the photos, hope you got to take it for a drive because the BYD salesman I was talking to (Harry) said it was great and he still dailies a manual. I told him I'm waiting for Honda to offer a K24 direct electric conversion so I can drop an electric powertrain into my ICE. Can't wait to see your FieldDays episode.
@QALibrary I had the same idea that alot of people have about the E car. " It's not a real mustang, it doesn't sound right ". But like Gavin said the Mustang grew up like we did
Test drove one in Auckland a couple of months ago. I endorse most of your review. I was disappointed it didn’t have a tow rating, but I noted you put “yet”. Slightly quieter on the road than the Model Y, but it also has the Skoda Enyaq as competition now the Enyaq price has dropped. It’s a shame the long range Mach-E is $110K.
Drove this car last month, rides way better than the Model Y’s stiff suspension in my opinion. Charging curve is quite decent so you don’t loose much time above 50% SOC.
Would be great if you could be a bit more comparative to other evs. All cars you review you consider amazing, but you don't have much critical review vs say other evs you have driven.
Nice vid. I hadn't known this was coming. As a tall person, I think car reviewers should measure the length of seat and show us where they go to on your thighs. Nothing makes a car more uncomfortable than a lack of thigh support, and/or sitting in a low back seat having to have your legs up off the seat to fit in.
One barely sells and makes -104% margins. The other is the best-selling car in the world and just Family Car of the Year from Autotrader, safest, most satisfied customer, conversion and retention ratings. th-cam.com/video/2PTOBc883zg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/m1kHsd3Ocxc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/GCRNYP5Qg34/w-d-xo.html
You are a master class in making something I used think was akin to watching paint dry to something I actually look forward to. Most car reviews are basically like the straight male dating profile pic - guy holding up a fish. Not so with your reviews.
"Like YOU, it has grown up". I find that quote pretty debatable... Small correction: MagneRide is not a Ford invention. Cadillac has been using it for two decades now. Loved the video!
The fossil fuel mustang is still a pretty huge seller globally, I guess trading on the brand helps shift what otherwise is an expensive ford, doesnt look too bad and goes well enough
It doesn't even remotely remind me of a Ford Mustang. It rather looks like a pathetic attempt to copy a Tesla, but add the appearance of an F-150 on the front. Why do almost all cars look alike nowadays? Why can none of the carmakers revive the old classics and electrify them? All those classics that we now love, that could not keep up with exhaust regulations and performance, now have a golden opportunity. Forget about comparing them with a Tesla, start thinking of appearance, because like they sang in Annie Get Your Gun Tesla: "Anything you can do I can do better."
Ford mustangs specially of the sixties are shite, just like Harleys they appeal to old farts my age for no reason other than Style and hype. This car isn't a real mustang and would be far better without the badge.

Was just thinking of Gavin as I was preparing the spuds for dinner, then he appeared!
Best EV reviewer on TH-cam
LIES! :D Thanks mate. If I ever get over my imposter syndrome I'll be unstoppable! -Gav

Loved this review! Didn't give the Mustang E much thought..until now.
Well done Gav keep up the good work.
I have two friends that own one and both of them used to own the ICE version both said they would not go back to the ICE version

Saw a post saying that the price drop on the Enyaq is only for the first 600 cars.
I think this review has convinced me to make this my next new vehicle. Well done Gav!

Another great video Gavin I’m glad you enjoyed your drive I too enjoyed my drive in it also
"two Hamiltonians that aren't related", HAHAHA
Was waiting for this one, thanks mate!
love your metaphors 😂
Great car by the look of it.
$5.5k more than a Tesla Model Y though?
Yep - it offers something different though I guess.
Been waiting for this one to drop. We saw the e mustang at the ford dealer in dunedin a month ago. Wasn't too sure about the looks to be honest.
Funnily enough I picked up a Mach E GT from europcar in Spain today. It's a good drive but an absolute beast in the carpark.
I've seen this compared directly to the Volvo C40 (which I drive).
Any thoughts on which of the two is better, Gav?
Great review as always.
Loved the seal at the feilddays sorry about the awkward farmer fanboy moment
Nice vid. I hadn't known this was coming.

Thx Gavin, great review as always, though I could not get past the door handle design which is daft
From Auckland with love. I am picking up my brand new GT in 2 days time; so exciting!!!😅
Love that color.
Awesome work mate! Got me thinking about this car vs a Tesla Y model. Any thoughts?

Does the Ford Bluecruise work in NZ?
It doesn't work in USA!:

... seated heats ... 0.49 ... haha ...

Am I the only one that paused, and read your Bible page.....you really are astonishing!
"Like YOU, it has grown up".
I find that quote pretty debatable...

Loved the video!
Not goat as tesla model y but better than the vw id4 id5 and the recently revealed explorer ev here in europe
is NZ going to get the F150 lighting or the smaller version?
5:11 Lived in Hamilton for 40 years, and that hurt 😅 I mean, it's true, but still 😄
Still waiting for Ford to make a Mustang EV
Is the presenter aware there is no such things as "seated heats"? 🤔
You know I can’t eat your ghost chips!!!
In short, calling this a Mustang is a sin
The fossil fuel mustang is still a pretty huge seller globally, I guess trading on the brand helps shift what otherwise is an expensive ford, doesnt look too bad and goes well enough
Not gonna lie, at 8 mins, when you said "like you, it's grown up", I was sure you were going to say, "like you, it's got fat".
Dude....that was cool but next time use more drone footage....the driving \will pop. As too keeping your job.....lol..bring me fried chicken...
😂 affordable
It should be called the "Draft Horse" It may be a good car but it's Fugly. Just get a normal Mustang and electrify it.
Yeah, perfect but not a bloody minded beast and that is a REAL Mustang...I reckon.
It doesn't even remotely remind me of a Ford Mustang. It rather looks like a pathetic attempt to copy a Tesla, but add the appearance of an F-150 on the front.

Because EVs are all about range at the moment, and aero is king when it comes to efficiency

It ain't no Mustang
Pretty hideous looking. So many of these cars are unnecessarily bloated
