i really love how this song sounds live with the drums and bass... always found that something was missing on the studio version in that area... the drums especially just add an extra layer of atmosphere that just make the song so much more enjoyable for me.
Suede! god! I miss Suede! last time I saw them was 1992-93 In Hollywood @ the American Legion Hall w/ The Charlatans uk & it was one of the most amazing memorable show I have ever seen, I always remeber that! Brett wimping his mic, it was amazinng!!!
Lucky enough to catch Suede the last time they toured the U.S. in NYC in '96 for the Coming Up tour. This tune blew me away live and that entire gig is still among my top 3 shows ever seen. The Supper Club. Brilliant.
Man I really miss this band! I only saw them once in 1996 - I had tix to the show for the coming up tour but had to take a final and then thankfully they played a free gig @ the warf the next day and I was 2 ft away from them as they played the MOST INCREDIBLE set for the SF crowd. I saw a lot of video cameras but alas never found a boot ...
@Mike Christie Thank you for this. One of my favourite things about TH-cam is when someone who was involved in making the footage gives some context. Kind of like how Evan Dando haunts the comments on Lemonheads videos, but that's another story...
"i caught the smell of your undried washing you stinkin' ol' pit. as though you had just crawled from a coffin or a barrel of sh*t!" not sure if that's exactly it but that's what i heard? quite funny!
This is from the dvd. I don't like his alteration of "I heard you call from across the city through the stereo sound, and so I crawl there sickeningly pretty as the money went round." That is such a beautiful verse and then he insults her lol. It's out of sinc too. But Suede adn Brett rock forever! lol xxxx
Although I think Dog Man Star is perfect, I often wonder whether they should have included the drums from here in the original. It adds something I think?
a heard this in 1996. still remember a fealing, a smell of space, and cant forget a words. thanks for beauty guys

Magnificent vocal perfomance.
Lying in my bed.
Watching my mistakes,
I listen to the band they said that it could be the 2 of us

yep but they released an album as The Tears relatively recently with the the original guitarist, good album if you like Suede
since december 2003 i believe.
i heard the 2 lines of changed lyrics but couldn't make them out. help??
Although I think Dog Man Star is perfect, I often wonder whether they should have included the drums from here in the original. It adds something I think?
Yes. It was a tour joke: undried washing has a particular smell and the band hated it... (But one member of the crew always smelt of it...)
'here comes the tears' is actually a brilliant album, as good as anything suede did until 'head music'...
Thank you, the blueoysterbar. After all these years I finally know now!
What are the lyrics in the altered verse that mentions a 'barrel of shit'?
