I am not worthy to EVER post in OG Jimmy Diresta's Comments Section, but I couldn't resist offering a suggestion regarding the chicken eggs: Unwashed/unrinsed chicken eggs will last unrefrigerated for up to four weeks (I've held them for five) as the rinsing removes the protective "bloom". If you can handle a little dirt with your eggs while they sit and wait for use, that's the way to go. I loved the tight focus filming in this one. And the fowl-sounding audio mixed in had me chuckling the whole time. Thank you!
In my dad’s day that would have been charged to a government project as a prototype.... Perhaps you’d have an easier recovery if them ladies had a proper set of nesting boxes with outside egg recovery access. Your artistry and craftsmanship continue to amaze me. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings. Peace brother
When I heard about this project on the podcast, wasn't really sure what it was. Definitely giving me some old golf driving range bucket vibes. Nicely done!
My test piece when I was an apprentice was a bird cage. Every joint had to be soldered to defence specifications. For anyone in the know that was tinned copper wire wrapped 270 degrees +- 5 degrees around heavier gauge tinned copper wire with the solder showing full whetting with a consistent concave fillet and where two wires were adjacent to each other, they had to be spaced half a millimetre apart. There were over 2000 solder joints and we were given three weeks to complete it.
Love the basket My 2 cents . . . I would have used brass or copper stock Polish it gold in search of the golden egg Try duck eggs their better Love u Jimmy and your crazy brother & matt
Wow Jimmy your coming to Melbourne Australia...its on my calendar I hope to get a Diresta decal or something & see you at the meat market. Strange name for a woodworking con ;)
Pretty funny with the chicken sounds! May i suggest you make a coop higher of the ground where they can lay their eggs. Chickens like to be off the ground because of predators. And put some woodchips in it
Hey Jimmy, I don’t care what those chickens think that basket is FN awesome Also, Lisa and I are going to Maker Central in England. too we can’t wait to see you there!
muy chulo jimmy !!! existen unos ponederos para que las gallinas pongan los huevos y no se ensucien!!! seguro que puedes fabricarte uno !!!! un abrazo !!!
Fantastic work, Jimmy! 😃 I thought you were building nests for them! 😂 Because they really don't like new nests, I don't know why... They usually take a week just for entering one! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I've always wondered why you don't build nest boxes for your chickens...so, now seems like a good time to ask... why not? very nice basket. thanks for the video.
I think we both know you made that for you and not the birds. I recognize this as on of “those” projects. “Honey what are you making? Couldn’t you just go buy one of….oh I see. Have fun honey” But you did just show some of us how to jig up a disc golf basket so thanks for that.
Ciao!
Need to make you some nesting boxes then you won't have to clean the eggs. :-) Well really depends on if the chickens take to them I built 6 and all 6 hens lay in the same one. LOL
I am a big fan of anything Jimmy makes. I do have to laugh that he made a basket that took 7 hours to make when he could spend $20 to buy one. Either way, great video.
Jimmy - you could've made a wood handle to go on the carry loop (wire handle?), then you could've sprayed "Diresta" on it. Now no one will ever know who made this!
Reminds me of the light I built except you made it look easier. Also i migged mine and it was a little stubborn cause of the heat. Looks great. What tube bender/roller you got you know the vender that makes it?
I might have just made a continuous coil that got gradually bigger in diameter to the top and welded the supporting rods the way you did and it would have taken a lot less time and the birds still wouldn't have cared.
Another fine video, Jimmy. You prove that with a little ingenuity and hard work you CAN put all your eggs in one basket.
Interesting

Beat me to it.
Came here to say this.
I've especially appreciated the non-stop chicken sounds in the background.
So you finally put all of your eggs in one basket! Good going Jimmy!!
My cat really enjoyed this video.
Nice work on the basket!
Jimmy Diresta. The gift that keeps giving. Total motivation.
Interesting
Saturday night Jimmy, what a treat! Love the soundtrack.
Ooooh... Some other color than usual! Great realization. As usual. This welding table is great.
I was imagining some elaborate egg delivery system 😂😂 loved watching the work go into this
Interesting
Or some nesting boxes so they aren't in such an inconvenient place of their choosing, or even scattered around.
Excellent job dude. I was wondering why are you making a basket of all things. Now I know. You needed one so you made one. Brilliant 🤙
An eggceptional eggsample of fine craftsmanship Jimmy. Thanks!
Loved the camera shot from the bottom of the basket. Thanks, Jimmy! 😊
Great video Jimmy!! I love how your mind works!
The video and the basket were great but the star of the show was when you picked up the eggs with the gripper!!!
Love the red! So much nicer than black all the time. Blessings.
Love the random bird sounds!
love the inside the basket shot!
When I heard about this project on the podcast, wasn't really sure what it was. Definitely giving me some old golf driving range bucket vibes. Nicely done!
Haven't seen one of those in years. Thats cool! Thanks for the video Jimmy! I enjoy your videos and the Making It Podcast ! Keep up the great work!
Nice one, this video reminded me that I have some tomato cages, behind my shed, that I need to repair.
My test piece when I was an apprentice was a bird cage. Every joint had to be soldered to defence specifications. I was curious about how you were going to attach the vertical sides to the rings.
Your approach was much simpler than what I thought you would do! 😆
Interesting
Great film, cool shots and editing. Basket is dope, as with all your builds. Mahalo for sharing! 🙂🙏🐒
Great title! Fellow kids will appreciate it 👍
I was told you arent supposed to wash eggs off because it rinses away a protective coating and washing it away will make them spoil WAY faster?
Nice work...thats one hell of a nice work table to.
Where did you stamp your name on it?
Love the basket
My 2 cents . . . I would have used brass or copper stock
Polish it gold in search of the golden egg
Try duck eggs their better
Love u Jimmy and your crazy brother & matt
I'll come with my son and say hello and thanks for all the great videos, in Melbourne, my home town.
Wow Jimmy your coming to Melbourne Australia...its on my calendar I hope to get a Diresta decal or something & see you at the meat market. Strange name for a woodworking con ;)
Jimmy has an Easter egg hunt every day!
Nice solution. I hope the red paint makes this one easier find.
Thank you for the video! You the man Jimmy!
Great video! Very good work! Easy to watch!!! Thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Pretty funny with the chicken sounds! May i suggest you make a coop higher of the ground where they can lay their eggs. Chickens like to be off the ground because of predators. And put some woodchips in it
Hey Jimmy, cool basket! Really like the techniques used. You didn't leave anywhere to paint "Diresta" on it though! Thanks for the video!
Nice basket Jimmy(in baby voice)!
Hey Jimmy, I don’t care what those chickens think that basket is FN awesome
Also, Lisa and I are going to Maker Central in England. too we can’t wait to see you there!
Was hoping for a fancy bird house!
Good skill builder! I should get chickens to I have to learn to weld 😂
Nothing better than fresh eggs! I want to know did one chicken lay all those eggs?
Without looking at all the comments…..how many people commented on not washing the eggs? Lol. Love the cideos
Good job Diresta well done
Really liked that!
Jimmy Diresta the chicken farmer. I love it, nothing like fresh organic eggs.
I love the sound track! 😅
I was really hoping you had taken that basket filled with golf balls to a driving range at the end. :) cool egg basket.
Makers Central. I'll be there. 👍
muy chulo jimmy !!! existen unos ponederos para que las gallinas pongan los huevos y no se ensucien!!! seguro que puedes fabricarte uno !!!! un abrazo !!!
I love the soundtrack! 😅
Fantastic work, Jimmy! 😃

Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Love it chickens are great
My rooster was crowing outside while I watched this. He certainly doesn't care if I made my own egg basket!
I've always wondered why you don't build nest boxes for your chickens...so, now seems like a good time to ask... why not? very nice basket. thanks for the video.
This spring. Definitely
Descale, hot dip and then paint or powder coat. It won't last long subjected to those moisture cycles
Similar process I used to make disc golf baskets.
nice work!
Greetings from dyke workshop
With the price of eggs you should put a locking lid on it 😅
Love u jimmy! Been here since the og chicken coup
Really nice!
Nice job!!!
Did you get the birds to label each egg as Diresta?
😂😂😂
🐥🐤🐔🐓
Don't put _all_ your eggs in them, Jimmy!
Probe lense. I loved it.
That cage of eggs costs a fortune. So precious!
Best basket ever! Thank you for sharing the process, makes it even more appreciated.
If you ever take up golf, that’s a perfect basket for range balls
You have no idea how disappointed I am that you didn't somehow put your name on it!
I think we both know you made that for you and not the birds. I recognize this as on of “those” projects.
“Honey what are you making? Couldn’t you just go buy one of….oh I see. Have fun honey”

fwiw here (France) I hear eggs should not be washed as water removes the protective cuticule, hence helping germs to penetrate the eggs...
I’m sure it’s been said and done but I would like to see your take on an egg 🥚 washing machine. Keep making the videos 👍
"Simple et efficace" . TY for this vidéo.
Need to make you some nesting boxes then you won't have to clean the eggs. :-) Well really depends on if the chickens take to them I built 6 and all 6 hens lay in the same one. LOL

Just need to build a second one now. Something about eggs and baskets and needing more than one. I cant quite remember....
Nice!👍
Reminds me of the light I built except you made it look easier. Also i migged mine and it was a little stubborn cause of the heat. Looks great. What tube bender/roller you got you know the vender that makes it?
I see your mig now nvm lol
lol you made a golf ball basket!
When I saw you toss the basket on the gram, I though maybe you were adding a driving range to the go cart track 😅
*Baby troll voice- "You're not supposed to put all your eggs in one basket!"
In all seriousness, very cool!!
O cara mais bem equipado de ferramentas do mundo! 😂😂😂 Você é uma inspiração para mim!
Interesting
you forgot to stencil diresta onto your basket 😅
Dude "roll away" nesting boxes👍 it's the only way to roll😂
Can I use my wooden workbench as a welding table?
Джимми ,здорово . 🎉🎉🎉 Привет из России 😊
I was sure you would weld a DIRESTA nameplate to the side. I sure miss having chickens.
Good for range balls, too
I might have just made a continuous coil that got gradually bigger in diameter to the top and welded the supporting rods the way you did and it would have taken a lot less time and the birds still wouldn't have cared.
I guess when you make a basket that nice you can put all your eggs in it!
i like these longer videos
You think Taylor is watching saying to herself half those eggs should be mine? Haha.
Hey jimmy just wondering what strap you have for the Apple Watch ultra?
Nice work. I was always told not to wash your eggs
you altered,a little, your table for welding a circle? a wood handle ? in genera good work thank you !
I wish i still had my dads welder.
Hey Moe!! A tisket a tasket a red Diresta basket? ...nyuk nyuk nyuk...
The KING
…and, not surprisingly, neither will your subscribers. Just kidding. Beautiful basket and great video. I watched the whole thing.
