Uraya is by far my favorite Titan. The vibrant orange and pink foliage of the trees is such a great contrast to the dark blues and greens in the rest of the landscape. It looks so serene and beautiful. The music definitely helps too.
I feel like it's one of the most underrated areas in this game, both in terms of design and music. The song just gives you the feeling of admiring the beauty of nature. But it's also the area I weirdly remember the least about.
@@BigKlingy same here. I'm only up to chapter 7 though and I played Uraya when the game first came out (continued because of Emile), so that's probably why I don't remember it too well.
This is where I started to really appreciate Rex. His distaste for war, him being a salvager to try and get as far away from it as he could, his conflict between not wanting to get involved in war but wanting to help Pyra. He really does have his own thoughts and desires outside of "I must save the girl".
I really like the talk Vandham had with Rex. I felt like it was something of a wake-up call, teaching Rex the realities of the world, how anything he does will be benefitting war in some way, no matter how much he tries to stay away from it. Just a really nice mentor-student moment. I just wish the lesson had more relevance later in the story. Like, it kinda does, but in less of a realistic way and in more of a battle shounen kinda way. It least that's how I felt.
I absolutely agree that it's a great conversation, although I'd add that I think it really is important - it kick-starts Rex's character development. I won't go into too much detail because of spoilers, but I feel that Rex's whole arc is centred around 'what his war is' so to speak. Without that initial conversation he'd still be stuck in the 'I can get through life avoiding war' mindset, his arc over before it began.
Alex M. I suppose that's fair. I'm just coming from the perspective of someone that doesn't really care for Rex as the hero of the story. I just didn't find his overwhelming optimism and casual attitude towards deep issues to be all that engaging.

Around 3:00, Chugga says something about hoping that his party members will pick up the HP potion (at least that's what I think his meaning was). It'd probably be good for someone like Enel to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure party members don't go for HP potions unless they have at least one Healer-class blade equipped. Since Tora doesn't (Poppi has Tank mod) and Rex (probably) has Electra still, they'll never go for HP potions.
This make sense to an extent because you wouldn't want you dpses running around to get potions. But at the same time I'm surprised they didn't put logic in if someone's health was very low to do it.

This game's characters are so good Vandham had me really good when he first appeared I thought Rex in the party we're done for, this let's play has been amazing so far.
Uraya also has some of my favorite region exclusive weather effects. The crystal hail in the beginning of Uraya and the Petals in this episode are incredible. It would be cool to live there.
I love Vandham's war speech at this part. It's one of the many instances where the bleakness of this world is brought up and it highlights one of the things I love about this game. Moreso than Xenoblade 1, this game doesn't shy away from highlighting the raw darkness of Alrest at all, and it's only gonna get sadder and darker as things go on. Also, I heard that Discord sound at 8:15, Emile. ;)
8:15 You can't get more Love Sources until you reach the snowy Titan, and even then it's a slog; you have to pick up a Key Item there, take it to Argentum's upper floor, make one Love Source, then go back to the snowy Titan and get that Key Item again - only one of that Item can be held, and it only respawns once it's no longer in the inventory, and it's not all that close to a Skip Travel point. It's tedious, but it's still the best Trust-raiser in the game, so...
@@hallaloth3112 Takes like 21 to hit S+ trust though..Which not only requires completing your blades' entire charts, it's also 21 per set of 3 blades. If you wanted to cap out all the rare blades in the game, that'd be like 300+ love sources. It's better than the alternative though, which is literally spamming 4K+ of the next best item for each set of 3 blades.

Uraya is beautiful, but going through it the first time I couldn't help feeling a certain sense of dread. "Wait, if we came in through the mouth, then....oh nooo...." That is one reason not to want a level to end.
Don't know if you know this Chuggaa, but Foorara's "Walky-Walky" with the trade guild is a reference to the old European practice where members of merchant/artisan guilds would go through a "Journeyman" stage where they mastered their craft by travelling around and learning in different cities. The German phrase for it, auf der Walz sein, literally means "being on the Walk", hence Walky-Walky!
I still really appreciate you showing each title screen change for a bit each chapter, I missed quite a few of these from just playing a lot at once and they're all *really* nice to look it.
Vandad looks like a Chad but hes actually cool like a gruff uncle and he has so many cool looking scars! His build is definitely not of the average which is really cool, he's starting to come up as one of my favorites.
I find it absolutely Charming when Chugga takes his time to talk to all the NPC's. I just feel like lots of opportunities are missed when other play throughs just past by interesting looking characters.
They also have a lot of interesting things to say. Some of them have really indepth world building dialogue as you go through the game that is actually interesting.

I said it in the last part, but since it was edited in and some people might have missed it, it bears repeating that if you’re having trouble even after following Emile’s steps and using pouch items or if you feel like battles are still dragging on for too long, rest at an inn and put that BEXP you’ve earned from all your exploration and questing to use. You don’t have to grind or pop more Core Crystals to feel powerful. Even the level 20 enemies in the Titan’s esophagus will seem more manageable after leveling up at an inn. There’s nothing wrong with using BEXP, and no one (well maybe your inner voice, but they’re stupid anyways and only try to bring you down) will think any less of you for using it; this is just how Emile is choosing to play, and so far he is committed to it without any signs of stopping. 0:07 He knows what you did to the Mayne Driver back in Torigoth. He knows. 1:03 It’s a bit risky if you bite off more than you can chew, but played right, not only will you have the buffs to keep your team powerful but you’ll likely have a completely full Party Gauge in the event that one or two of your fighters go down. 2:35 Enemy break resist is directly proportional to the level difference between your party and theirs if the difference is in the enemy’s favor. In general it’s much harder to pull off Driver Combos against higher level enemies, so you’re going to want accessories that decrease an enemy’s break resist (they’re still worthwhile even if you’re stronger since an enemy’s break resist isn’t necessarily zero if you’re stronger than they are level-wise). Shame we don’t have any of those and won’t have any of those for a bit. 3:52 I would’ve laughed if after all that Emile still aggro’d Dylan right before he could start this quest. 6:07 Considering how he basically toyed with our party while the likes of Mórag and Brighid and Malos and Sever had to struggle a bit or go all in, does he really need protection? 8:00 It is a bit problematic if you don’t know where to get Crossette’s core crystal or the Boy with Two Sword’s (he has a name, I swear), but claiming all doesn’t stop you from looking at the details. One thing I don’t believe the game does when you input receive all is give you the final thank-you package you get if you bought the Torna: The Golden Country pass. You’ll have to press minus to view that page and claim the package there manually. No spoilers in that package thankfully as it’s just some goodies like a legendary Core Crystal. Until you are able to make more you’ll want to save your limited Love Trust drinks for when a. you’re able to have three active Blades tied to one Driver (soon) and b. particularly for Blades that have either really high Trust requirements to unlock their final Key affinity nodes (notably Unique Blades such as Pyra and Poppi) or one single node that requires 9800 trust to unlock (there are a few Rare Blades with that, and they typically have other unlock requirements by or their Key Affinity nodes). Not to mention your itchy trigger finger when it comes to menuing and rushing through prompts. 9:10 A rather refreshing change of pace considering Rex’s concerns at the end of the last chapter. 11:05 A reminder that for as much as we don’t want to get involved with terrible and messy things like war and politics, sometimes we’re involved and we just don’t know it. May as well own up and fight for what’s right rather than pretending we’re still sitting on the sidelines claiming neutrality. 13:08 Gee, I wonder who (MAL) Emile could be referring to. I mean there is, but it takes a bit of luck and grinding. At Pyra’s current chart level, all you would need is a Wind Mastery Level 2 and a Fire Mastery Level 1 to help her. Rex already has a Wind Common Blade. It would just be a matter of filling out his chart and pulling a Fire Blade with Fire Mastery. It would have to be a common however, because believe it or not, neither of the Base Game Fire Rare Blades have access to Fire Mastery, and Crossette doesn’t have it either. No worries if you can’t open it now; there’s nothing terribly important back there at the moment though that location does become important later for one reason or two. 14:16 Every one of these earns you some Boosters too, which is always nice. All of the materials IIRC can be salvaged from either Argentum or Gormott so you could always salvage from both and come back here to trade things in and help improve Uraya’s dev level in the process. 16:45 Wonder what Emile needed to go to Argentum for. Was it just to try and get the Blossom Rain weather? 17:15 Well that’s not the only reason... Or maybe it is. Huh. Good to know that H2H doesn’t have any inn cutscene tied to it. 18:18 Please don’t ever utter that again when Electra’s involved. I mean she’s a talker, Emile. Alcohol probably helps even more with that in Kora’s case. 19:24 “Battle Observer”. What an odd name for an NPC, right? Well that’s not their real name. No one knows what it is. However they’ll tell you what your best times for taking down UMs are whenever you’d like and without having to track down their gravestones. It’s also handy in case you forgot where a specific UM you defeated could be found. 20:28 Basically this explains why you can’t use Vandham to bond with new Blades be it through popping core crystals or using overdrive protocols. He won’t use any other Blade than Roc. And yes, this observation implies slight spoilers for what’s coming up in this video, but at long last we’re back up to four party members with Vandham joining the team! 21:23 This will be the first time we get to leave Rex out of battle. Time for a pro to show these kids how it’s done...is what I’d like to say, but for as awesome as a character Vandham is, as a playable Driver, he and Roc do have some serious downsides compared to the rest of the team. I’m sure Emile will go over it, but having only one Blade does hurt a bit when it comes to team synergy and combination potential. Also, Roc’s not gaining any Trust levels or any Key Affinity Nodes beyond Level 1 any time soon, so Vandham’s at a disadvantage on that front since Trust is tied to auto-attack damage and such. Wait, “for now”? Is there something I’m not getting or had forgotten? Will be interested to see/relearn what that is. 22:05 So we better see here that new party members will have WP and SP already accumulated based on your past quests and discoveries so that they don’t have to play catch up. I believe they also get the BEXP you’ve gained too and if you’re a higher level than they are when you recruit will either be decently leveled to better match your party’s or have extra BEXP to get them caught up. I’m not 100% sure on that last part, but point is you will never have to worry about babying/grinding up brand new party members to make them viable in your party. Cases like with Nia where she (forcibly) leaves your party at one point or another however do need to catch up a little bit in terms of EXP and SP, but such cases are very few and very far in between in this game that you won’t need to worry about them. 24:52 Now we get to see what a Level 3 Driver Art can do. Watch as the cooldown decreases from 9 to 8. That might not seem like much, but that 1 point less of cooldown can make all the difference. 26:42 See? Wouldn’t have missed out on much save for a location discovery, a (pretty good) collection point, and Foorara if you’ve already run into him back in Torigoth (remember that he said he was going to look for mushrooms?). 27:25 Not even going to be cryptic about it this time. Next time we’re going to see Foorara will be Fonsa Myma. She’s probably talking to Nia and Tora, but it’d be funny albeit kinda sad if Vandham didn’t know who was working for him.
Emile seems to be pretty under-levelled for this point, which is fine if you know the battle system but if you're new it's probably best to try to be the same level as story bosses. Fortunately you'll easily have enough exp to do that if you do sidequests. 2:35 They're more available much later, but towards the end Beta Scopes (I think that's what they're called) are pretty much essential.
BigKlingy Beta and Master Scopes, yeah. They’re more common in mid-endgame, but I know there are some early-mid level quests and Troves that have Betas.
@@Rexaura888 If I'm remembering right not a lot of enemies have Topple/Launch/Smash resistance, they just rely on resisting Break. So if you can get Break off the rest usually follows.
BigKlingy Just as Emile said. Very few enemies resist the remaining parts of Driver Combos so breaking is all you need to really worry about. I do seem to remember though that there are some enemy types that are invulnerable to Driver Combos period or at least they can enter a state where they become immune to them temporarily (which also leads to your attacks getting blocked by them).

Around 3:00, Chugga says something about hoping that his party members will pick up the HP potion (at least that's what I think his meaning was). It'd probably be good for someone like Enel to confirm this, but I'm pretty sure party members don't go for HP potions unless they have at least one Healer-class blade equipped. Since Tora doesn't (Poppi has Tank mod) and Rex (probably) has Electra still, they'll never go for HP potions.

I love Vandham's war speech at this part. It's one of the many instances where the bleakness of this world is brought up and it highlights one of the things I love about this game. Moreso than Xenoblade 1, this game doesn't shy away from highlighting the raw darkness of Alrest at all, and it's only gonna get sadder and darker as things go on.

8:15 You can't get more Love Sources until you reach the snowy Titan, and even then it's a slog; you have to pick up a Key Item there, take it to Argentum's upper floor, make one Love Source, then go back to the snowy Titan and get that Key Item again - only one of that Item can be held, and it only respawns once it's no longer in the inventory, and it's not all that close to a Skip Travel point.
It's tedious, but it's still the best Trust-raiser in the game, so...

@@hallaloth3112 Takes like 21 to hit S+ trust though..Which not only requires completing your blades' entire charts, it's also 21 per set of 3 blades. If you wanted to cap out all the rare blades in the game, that'd be like 300+ love sources.
It's better than the alternative though, which is literally spamming 4K+ of the next best item for each set of 3 blades.

Uraya's probably my favorite Titan to explore. It's pretty much an entire country dedicated to Satorl Marsh.

Uraya is beautiful, but going through it the first time I couldn't help feeling a certain sense of dread. "Wait, if we came in through the mouth, then....oh nooo...." That is one reason not to want a level to end.
Don't know if you know this Chuggaa, but Foorara's "Walky-Walky" with the trade guild is a reference to the old European practice where members of merchant/artisan guilds would go through a "Journeyman" stage where they mastered their craft by travelling around and learning in different cities. The German phrase for it, auf der Walz sein, literally means "being on the Walk", hence Walky-Walky!

Actually, he can't. No way to dance on command, or to dance while moving.
I said it in the last part, but since it was edited in and some people might have missed it, it bears repeating that if you’re having trouble even after following Emile’s steps and using pouch items or if you feel like battles are still dragging on for too long, rest at an inn and put that BEXP you’ve earned from all your exploration and questing to use. You don’t have to grind or pop more Core Crystals to feel powerful. Even the level 20 enemies in the Titan’s esophagus will seem more manageable after leveling up at an inn. There’s nothing wrong with using BEXP, and no one (well maybe your inner voice, but they’re stupid anyways and only try to bring you down) will think any less of you for using it; this is just how Emile is choosing to play, and so far he is committed to it without any signs of stopping.

1:03 It’s a bit risky if you bite off more than you can chew, but played right, not only will you have the buffs to keep your team powerful but you’ll likely have a completely full Party Gauge in the event that one or two of your fighters go down.
2:35 Enemy break resist is directly proportional to the level difference between your party and theirs if the difference is in the enemy’s favor. In general it’s much harder to pull off Driver Combos against higher level enemies, so you’re going to want accessories that decrease an enemy’s break resist (they’re still worthwhile even if you’re stronger since an enemy’s break resist isn’t necessarily zero if you’re stronger than they are level-wise). Shame we don’t have any of those and won’t have any of those for a bit.

8:00 It is a bit problematic if you don’t know where to get Crossette’s core crystal or the Boy with Two Sword’s (he has a name, I swear), but claiming all doesn’t stop you from looking at the details. One thing I don’t believe the game does when you input receive all is give you the final thank-you package you get if you bought the Torna: The Golden Country pass. You’ll have to press minus to view that page and claim the package there manually. No spoilers in that package thankfully as it’s just some goodies like a legendary Core Crystal.
Until you are able to make more you’ll want to save your limited Love Trust drinks for when a. you’re able to have three active Blades tied to one Driver (soon) and b. particularly for Blades that have either really high Trust requirements to unlock their final Key affinity nodes (notably Unique Blades such as Pyra and Poppi) or one single node that requires 9800 trust to unlock (there are a few Rare Blades with that, and they typically have other unlock requirements by or their Key Affinity nodes).
Not to mention your itchy trigger finger when it comes to menuing and rushing through prompts.
9:10 A rather refreshing change of pace considering Rex’s concerns at the end of the last chapter.

I mean there is, but it takes a bit of luck and grinding. At Pyra’s current chart level, all you would need is a Wind Mastery Level 2 and a Fire Mastery Level 1 to help her. Rex already has a Wind Common Blade. It would just be a matter of filling out his chart and pulling a Fire Blade with Fire Mastery. It would have to be a common however, because believe it or not, neither of the Base Game Fire Rare Blades have access to Fire Mastery, and Crossette doesn’t have it either. No worries if you can’t open it now; there’s nothing terribly important back there at the moment though that location does become important later for one reason or two.
14:16 Every one of these earns you some Boosters too, which is always nice. All of the materials IIRC can be salvaged from either Argentum or Gormott so you could always salvage from both and come back here to trade things in and help improve Uraya’s dev level in the process.

And yes, this observation implies slight spoilers for what’s coming up in this video, but at long last we’re back up to four party members with Vandham joining the team!

Time for a pro to show these kids how it’s done...is what I’d like to say, but for as awesome as a character Vandham is, as a playable Driver, he and Roc do have some serious downsides compared to the rest of the team. I’m sure Emile will go over it, but having only one Blade does hurt a bit when it comes to team synergy and combination potential. Also, Roc’s not gaining any Trust levels or any Key Affinity Nodes beyond Level 1 any time soon, so Vandham’s at a disadvantage on that front since Trust is tied to auto-attack damage and such.
Wait, “for now”? Is there something I’m not getting or had forgotten? Will be interested to see/relearn what that is.
22:05 So we better see here that new party members will have WP and SP already accumulated based on your past quests and discoveries so that they don’t have to play catch up. I believe they also get the BEXP you’ve gained too and if you’re a higher level than they are when you recruit will either be decently leveled to better match your party’s or have extra BEXP to get them caught up. I’m not 100% sure on that last part, but point is you will never have to worry about babying/grinding up brand new party members to make them viable in your party. Cases like with Nia where she (forcibly) leaves your party at one point or another however do need to catch up a little bit in terms of EXP and SP, but such cases are very few and very far in between in this game that you won’t need to worry about them.

Emile seems to be pretty under-levelled for this point, which is fine if you know the battle system but if you're new it's probably best to try to be the same level as story bosses. Fortunately you'll easily have enough exp to do that if you do sidequests.

@@Rexaura888 If I'm remembering right not a lot of enemies have Topple/Launch/Smash resistance, they just rely on resisting Break. So if you can get Break off the rest usually follows.
BigKlingy Just as Emile said. Very few enemies resist the remaining parts of Driver Combos so breaking is all you need to really worry about. I do seem to remember though that there are some enemy types that are invulnerable to Driver Combos period or at least they can enter a state where they become immune to them temporarily (which also leads to your attacks getting blocked by them).
Vandham's mealtime conversation reminds me of Ferengi Rule of Acquisition #34: "War is good for business."

Also i am glad you posted that walkthrough of the first xenoblade chronicles in the second video of this walkthrough because i just completed watching every episode of the first game today and that was a very good game walkthrough of that game as well.
