sooyoung speaks fluent japanese so she was featured much more in the japanese tracks than the korean ones (that sucks tbh). seohyun also speaks fluent japanese!! snsd is pretty good at languages in general-i think only about 3 members arent super great at english (yuri, hyoyeon, yoona). taeyeon seems to have a good grasp in all the languages she sings, but learning languages doesnt seem to be much of a priority (but she IS pretty great at speaking english according to international fans who've gone to fanmeetings. she speaks fluently there, they say). obviously tiffany and jessica are fully bilingual. sunny, i think, also has a pretty good understanding of english since she spends a lot of time in the US with her family, but she's a lot like taeyeon who doesnt really talk about it much. hyoyeon knows how to speak chinese because she lived there for a while. sooyoung is also fluent in japanese because she started her music career there. yoona is CRAZY good at chinese and has intermediate level certification (which is notoriously difficult to pass). seohyun knows korean, japanese, chinese, and english pretty well too.

I highly recommend Bad Girl! It's their japanese debut and it's AMAZING! One thing though the audio on the official MV is messed up so I recommend watching a live performance of it. I also highly recommend the great escape and karma butterfly, both japanese songs that are also amazing live

These three are probably my favourite title tricks alongside Bad Girl & All my love for You. SM well knew it was not easy to get into the Japanese music market coz quality really matters, and they really delivered! Was it just me or they have better Japanese songs than Korean ones? That’s why they were able to do so many Japan concert tours!

( In that vein, I sometimes refer to I Got A Boy as "I'm a Cat Burger" ) Beep Beep is IMHO just genius songwriting and arrangement. Such a clever and contemporary theme--the mechanics and frustrations of conducting relationships over the phone, and how cleverly the music takes it's beat and rhythm from the familiar 'busy' signal. ( Thank goodness no-one has been inspired to base a song on the sound of a dial-up modem 'handshake'). The cartoon style of the MV doesn't just present a novel visual style, it's also tightly integrated with the choreography. Just because Beep Beep is 'cute' doesn't mean it isn't also genuinely artistic.

When they used Flower Power as their opening song for their "The Best Live in Tokyo Dome" concert (AKA one of the best concert openings EVER), I knew that I would play that song for the rest of my life😭😭
Sunny has been singing the entire time in both songs. She was the one doing aslibs in the back in Beep Beep (Ahah ah) and Galaxy Supernova (Na na na) (Ah Ah Ah) (Oh). Flower Power she lead both the choreo and chorus. She was basically the center for the song. I call it Sunny's Song.
Sooyoung appreciation post! 💗 I think the reason I love their japanese songs so much aside from them being really good musically is the division of lines is pretty even. Not just soo but yoona, hyo and sunny get to feature more. 💗💗💗 Plus because they toured in Japan so mucn that there are a lot of concert footage and I just think they are even better in their live performances compared to MVs. Their energy is different and we get to see how much they enjoy being on stage. I also notice their voices are different when singing in a different language, and sound better in my personal preference. Having said that, please review their David Letterman The Boys performance which they did in English and with a live band!

The thing I love abt SNSD the most is, because they released songs in a lot ot different styles over the years, their fanbase is also composed of ppl with pretty different music taste. When they used Flower Power as their opening song for their "The Best Live in Tokyo Dome" concert (AKA one of the best concert openings EVER), I knew that I would play that song for the rest of my life😭😭
Sunny has been singing the entire time in both songs. She was the one doing aslibs in the back in Beep Beep (Ahah ah) and Galaxy Supernova (Na na na) (Ah Ah Ah) (Oh). Flower Power she lead both the choreo and chorus. She was basically the center for the song. I call it Sunny's Song.
T.O.P. is one of the iconic SNSD’s japanese song, I recommend you to watch live version of this song with subtitles

I think the reason I love their japanese songs so much aside from them being really good musically is the division of lines is pretty even. Not just soo but yoona, hyo and sunny get to feature more. 💗💗💗
Plus because they toured in Japan so mucn that there are a lot of concert footage and I just think they are even better in their live performances compared to MVs. Their energy is different and we get to see how much they enjoy being on stage.
I also notice their voices are different when singing in a different language, and sound better in my personal preference. Having said that, please review their David Letterman The Boys performance which they did in English and with a live band!

The thing I love abt SNSD the most is, because they released songs in a lot ot different styles over the years, their fanbase is also composed of ppl with pretty different music taste. It's virtually impossible to have a non-controversial opinion on their discog and sones are always playfully fighting over which is their best and worst song, and a lot of ppl's favorite r also a lot of ppl's least favorite lmao it's chaotic but fun since there's no clear favorite.. Also why i'm so glad u decide to continue to check them out even after not really vibing at first, bc they most definetely have smth for everyone
