Great car can hardly wait until it becomes my 5th CLS. As far as back seats they are there for short rides only and if you need more room then spend the money , buy a S-Class

We have driven all generations of CLS‚ this new one is great‚ but its a shame there's no option for an V8 left anymore- From the overall perspective i think the second generation is the best one
The V8 option for the CLS 53 is the GT 53, and it goes wilder with the GT 63 and GT 63s.

I think the BMW key is not the way to go. Who wants to carry around that thing and a mobile? It’ll all be mobile operated in the next few years, hopefully when interfaces have been improved.
It would be super-awesome to see a Mercedes Benz S53e AMG since the in-line straight six is the new craze and the S560e is coming to market pretty soon, a full hybrid AMG version of that unit would be a super-awesome option... The Porsche Turbo S has shown that it is both practical and possible.
It's a press car. It gets washed (car wash, pressure wash, whatever) every time it's about to be filmed. Nobody's going to waste time on a detailer. Sometimes I wash a car 3-4 times during a single shoot.
I think merc solution on connected car is better. I wonder why BMW decided to develop that huge keyfob don't they learn anything from james' 7 series and his communicator in 1997. Besides phone are getting bigger, sleeker keyfob like newer merc and VW are the way to go
Gregorius Hermawan BMW comes with the small keys, the big one you will need to buy it separately for some series. Now with bmw you can unlock the car with your phone so you don’t need any key fob.
It doesn't look like a Mercedes. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. The fake details are a pity indeed. Just make them work even though they aren't needed. People are paying enough for these cars. What I don't like is the interrupted hood design. I understand why they do it, but I don't like the look. The new 3 series got rid of that.

The grill won't become obsolete on EV's. The original purpose of the grill isn't necessary on an EV, but can still be needed for aesthetics. Take the new Jag I Pace. Keep the company grill so everyone knows it's a Jag.

It’s not the range topping model. Technically is still now but the 53 is not even a real AMG. I wouldn’t call an Audi S6 range topping if the RS6 would be released within a year.
Theoretically there is nothing more powerful in the CLS lineup. If you want more, you gave to go for the GT 4 Door Coupe, which according to Mercedes is a different car.
Marek Drives The upcoming AMG CLS 63 is in the lineup. There are spyshots of the car already. So yes it is the best CLS at the moment but i think it should be noted that the 53 still sits in the middle of the CLS lineup even though the 63 is not revealed just yet. But that’s just my opinion.
trunk alignment is terrible on this one too..how come nobody notice thngs like that? ..just bought cla250 ..had to do alignment my trunk, one side of the lid was higher than the other ..mercedes logo is "the best or nothing",,lol..don't think so....yes they drive precise but where is the famous mercedes comfort ride? seems like comfort and mercedes aren't meant to be put in the same sentence anymore.... i'm not terribly disappointed but in lot of ways i am..probably won't buy another mercedes..

I need a reliable car and nothing is worse than a German brand car in the USA. But in your part of the world what is a reliable car, one that mostly needs just petrol / gas?
I try to drive every car at least 200 miles. I guess I drive 1.5 cars every week, plus some longer trips/test drives. Let's say I do 350-400 miles a week on average. AFAIK some of the cars of German brands available in the US are made in the US or Mexico, and they are not the same, as what we get in Europe. Not all, but some. That could be one possibility. Another problem could be servicing. Cars are getting increasingly complex, and if service is not trained properly, your car is not going to be reliable. German cars made a name for themselves in the 70s and 80s. Especially Mercedes, which was over-engineered, and people said a W124 could do a million miles with nothing but occasional oil change. Yes, and no. Part of the luxury car experience is not just its reliability, but overall comfort, and although these cars would run forever, they would no longer be comfortable, if improperly maintained. These days I don't think German cars are any more or less reliable, than French, Italian or Japanese cars. Factories are scattered all over the world, subcomponents are delivered with different countries, and it's increasingly difficult to say, if a car is German, American or Swedish. The brand may still have nationality.
Terrible review like most of his others. Multiple contradictions and almost entirely focused on the negatives. I've saw the exact same approach with the video on the new A6, didn't do that car justice either.
I feel this car in general was cheated out of its rightful evolutionary path. I totally say the amg gt63 4 door “coupe” is the Cls we should have received. It just seems like a long wait for somewhat of a letdown...

The one I tested was a 55 TFSI, so hardly a slouch.
Soft seats means collapsed seats in time. From ride means sportier handling.
