- Charon is Pluto's large companion, and last summer it went from a distant point of light to a full-fledged world in human understanding. Join us as we discuss the interesting fractured geology of Charon. Dr. Ross Beyer, member of the New Horizons team and a Research Scientist at the SETI Institute will take you on a tour of the canyons, faults, craters, smooth plains, enigmatic mountains, and all manner of terrains that New Horizons observed as it flew through the Pluto system.

Yeah this video desperately needs repaired and replaced. Half the words are half missing. And its a shame. Quality has been decent for a while

Good. But since I'm Greek, the proper name for this planet is Χάρων or Χάροντας. "Charon' is just a lame Latin-alphabet transliteration from the Yanks.
By the way Χάρων is the analogue of "Grim Reaper" in Greek culture, is the guy that supposedly take you down to the Underworld, once you drop dead, then you got to cross the river Στυξ (Styx) to get there and so on. Typical folklore mythology, at least my ancestors had some imagination, I wish they could see that a moon was named after that Χάρων character. If I could travellback in time, I would take this Χάρων image with me, to show them apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1510/Charon-Neutral-Bright-Release.jpg Finally, the correct pronunciation is not 'Saron' but more like "Haaron" (check the IPA name)
Yeah. Those damn Yankees. They only discovered Pluto... and Charon... and built the only spacecraft to explore the system. I guess we could have name it "Fuck You Greece"!
3 years later and they haven't done squat to fix the video. The only other recourse I see is to down vote the video until they take it down or fix it.

Unfortunately the fan-boy names they gave to these tax-payer funded finds are likely to stick. Maybe its for the best, get the fan-boy horsecrap names outta the way once and for all on this system. No more Sci-Fi/childhood cool stuff names. I don't wanna' find TMNT Mons one day....
