Or when he saved that guy from arrows and got ticked off and threw his fist like the Gomu Gomu no Pistol but didn’t say it. Also its better to just give the attacks names because it makes it more memorable, i mean would you rather explain it like “Luffy’s giant inflated arm coated with haki” or would you rather just call it by a name “Gum-Gum Elephant Gun”
Then why don't they make the villain, I don't know, actually strong. Like what the fuck are arrows going to do to him? He's dodged literal bullets already at this point.
why do ppl in the comments keep shitting on this movie & it's portrayal of the characters? the strawhats are still really early on in their journey (only a couple months at the very least), so they havent even gotten to water 7 & robin's arc by this point. their trust as a whole is still new & easy to fracture if someone picked at the right nerves. and the baron's had literal years to perfect his method of doing so. 'manga luffy wouldn't have--!' he absolutely would've. you literally see luffy act similarly both in sabaody and marineford. if he sees (until told/shown otherwise) that someone he loves is actually dead & can't come back despite all his efforts to save them...he shuts down. the only reason he was able to pick himself up after marineford was because he knew his crew was still alive & out there waiting for him. which is exactly how he acts once he's told they might still be able to be saved in this movie. he immediately goes back into fight mode. and srsly, even with him shouting his attacks being a waste of time, it usually never matters in regular fights within OP. he usually can shout out as many of his attacks as he wants & it doesnt really affect his chance of hitting the enemy. baron is not operating on 'fair fight' rules, & is purposely targeting the strawhats over the course of the entire movie instead of them just being an obstacle in the way of a bigger goal of his. he legit just wants them to suffer & die.
Indeed. While I can see some things to nitpick about this story, its sad to see this story about loss, anguish, and what it makes people into, have a comment section full of people who don't understand anime, people who don't understand the time this takes place in, and furthermore don't understand One Piece. For all the people that say their arguments wouldn't have gotten that bad, I would agree if Baron Omatsuri wasn't an emotional manipulator at his core. These petty issues would iron themselves out in hours, if not minutes, in that case. But tensions are flared and given no chance to lower with the perils of the games earlier, and the emotionally intelligent and calm crewmembers, Chopper and Robin, were lured and taken out first, while the crewmembers with high tempers are paired in a frustrating and stressful challenge. It honestly makes perfect sense for someone not watching a non-canon movie to shit on it *because* it's non-canon.
I do love how the movie finally confronts the fact Luffy's willingness to jump headfirst into danger and the unknown while simultaneously promising to protect his crew at all costs is an inherent contradiction. You cannot guarantee safety when you willingly face threats of unknown motivation and power.
Enies Lobby is the first most goated arc in One Piece, if you have enough to patience to reach that arc, then there'd be no problem catching up to the rest
If even 5% of the villains took advantage of Luffy telegraphing his attacks, Luffy would be very dead, but the Nika fruit alters reality so fortune is always on his side, he never needs to be cautious.
@Otneimica Why would I need to, the guy is an idiot lol. I am also too lazy to go into it, basic explanation Nika fruit does not alter reality so fortune is always on the users side. That's a lie.
I haven't watch this. But this looks like Berserk all over again. The MC somehow got himself in somewhere like hell, got stuck and is forced to watch his loved ones got hurt, evil villains. Except, it's One Piece, of course it wouldn't have a bad ending.
Whats more terrifying is that lily or barons plant is not a devil fruit. It is an entirely unknown entity that just stumbled upon baron and the shit you would expect from hxh dark continent monsters. Oda really should have expanded on the lore as the fact that the one piece may have its very dark continent.
Imagine if like zunisha lily was another relic of the void century whose roots borrowed into the REDACTED. I had the same idea of tot musica where what if instead of tot musica being some generic demon what if it was a creation of the first user and creator of the sing sing fruit. A relic akin to an ancient weapon that the kingdom of music made in its defense during that Great War. It being preserved because it’s a relic of that kingdoms history
It is not enough to simply defeat your enemy, but to unmake them entirely. Bone and body. Mind and soul. Unmake them and harvest them for you and your blade.
"You're utterly alone on the vast Grand Line." This line is CHILLING. If Luffy had somehow won but without his crew coming back, he'd be trapped on an island in the Grand Line with no navigator and no log pose to even TRY navigating on his own.

Even though its non canon, this probably the very first time Luffy did kill a person, like if you compare any other villain from movies and canon version, Baron make them look like a saint.
@domainhami5253 all those essay, are you even know how Baron defeat almost SHP crew? He use his brain instead of muscle because he knows SHP crew reputation. "Baron would scare to death" yeah right, the guy literally fought Roger, even though he loses badly but ain't no way he will scared with any other SHP members, including Luffy. If you really watch the movie, then you should know very well about the plot instead of uttered some bullshit by tied this to canon version lmao "If he got killed then lol he must be even weaker than a celestial dragon" ah yes, lets compare pissed off Luffy against bloodlusted Luffy who literally goes for the kill, this is a simple logic that you can't even understand. While this movie talk about psychology and mental, here you bringing power level which is not even my point to begin with
@domainhami5253 my guy do you even watch until the end? Baron literally meet his crewmate and surprised, that alone prove that Baron died and his soul meet his other crewmate who died in the past. The plot point in this movie is where Baron made a deal with flower so he could see his crew again, that is why he build the game so the flower could digest and absorb anyone. That's the plot is all about. Infact you says he didn't died and Luffy ain't killed him and even surprised he fought Roger, while the ending blantantly show you otherwise prove you just talk out your ass here, you can't even tell the difference between pissed Luffy and bloodlusted Luffy and keep compare this to canon source
@domainhami5253lmao STFU please, judging by your statement alone you're not even watching the move and keep comparing this to canon source🤣, also incase you forgot Luffy get buff to the grill in movies to the point he could beat Shiki and Bullets, but sure lets ignore that because double standard is a bitch.
@domainhami5253bro didnt watch the movie Robin got caught off guard by the arrow shot that literally redirects itself to its target This is before water 7 and skypia. The strawhats relationship isnt that strong as it is yet. The dynamics of the strawhats are literally just more relatstic and put to the extreme. Nami slaps ussop thinking he backstabbed her, usopp this time makes a whitty comeback and in which hurt nami. The straw hats relationship in this movie is simply just put a little bit extreme and relatstic. You also acting like he didnt pick them off one by one. The arrows dont automatically redirect, and can also explode
In fairness, the villain was using arrows that could track their target, alter their direction on their own, and penetrate stone, so at this point this early in the series, it's not surprising that the Baron could take him. Also the Baron isn't the villain. When Luffy beats him with brute force later in the movie, he thrashes what he thinks is the Lily Carnation, only for it to be a trap that counters his own abilities. Given that the Lily Carnation is the actual villain, beating the Baron doesn't solve anything since the arrows do not require the Baron to shoot at Luffy.
Best villain from one piece movies.... Also he is in the list of my top10 One piece villain rank(including non canon) - 1.Doflamingo 2.Katakuri 3.Kaido 4.Blackbeard(Probably he'll rank up in the future) 5.Rob lucci 6.Akainu(he might rank up too) 7.Kizaru 8.Crocodile 9.Baron omatsuri 10.Enel
Truth be told, Luffy telegraphs his attacks both verbally and physically more then almost any other main character in anime, cause there have been a billion times Luffy attacked a faster opponent with extending, completely exposed arms and they didn't cut his extending arms off mid-telegraphed punch. The ONLY thing that protects him is plot armor. This movie has plot armor turned off for 90% of the movie.
@@jjuchii I agree large, long range energy beams are more telegraphed then Luffy's fists, but for dbz beams the circumstances can very, you can widen the size of the beam, aim it toward the earth if your a villain, give your opponent a reason not to dodge cause beams cause things to blow up, etc.... ...and, if they DO dodge your beam, your arm isn't a super long, super exposed piece of flesh that a fast enemy can think 'oh, that arm is very long and very stretched out right now. If I used my sharpest attack on it at this second, he should only have one arm.' Piccolo and Buu are some of the only characters in dbz that use stretchy arm attacks, and not only is it usually for surprise attacks, they are both regenerators. Luffy isn't a logia, so even strong slash attacks without haki are going to do some serious damage if ANY of Luffy's foes used the 'dodge and attack exposed , elongated arm with best slash attack' maneuver. .... And its not like I'm expecting every One Piece villain to use this technique on Luffy right away, but any, ANY decent fighter who see's Luffy's extending type attacks 2 or 3 times, they would obviously think.... "Man, this kid makes his body stretch for his long range attacks. I want to hurt him. I should probably counter attack his extended arms and legs. He gives me WAY more surface area to hit then a normal human's arms and legs." And do you know what the worst part is? The author seems to be fully aware of this!!! When Katakuri fights using the same fighting style as Luffy, the advantage isn't JUST that he's a Logia and that he's overall stronger.....when he does his extending fist attacks, 9 times out of 10 he makes his ENTIRE extended arm both armored in haki....AND makes his arms cube-like in shape, as if making his arms into the shape of metal support beams. He's basically giving his extending arms both the consistency AND shape of armor or shield or something that can't be cut easily. Remember when Gohan tried to strike a large black cube made of metal (or like-metal)? th-cam.com/video/P22F17cYWng/w-d-xo.html Its as if....Katakuri is FULLY aware that, in the One Piece World, Luffy's attacks should not work at all unless his arms are properly protected. Every time I see Katakuri using an extending punch with his arm both properly haki'd and shaped like a solid cube, it makes me think that every villain Luffy ever fought was beyond stupid for not taking advantage of this issue that Katakuri thought was just plain common sense. In other words, all Luffy villains have to fail an intelligence check when fighting Luffy because Luffy has plot armor.
The title of this “Lily absorbs Strawhat crew” seems like huge foreshadowing of the final problems Luffy will have with the recent manga chapter reveal about Alabasta and Imu :O
@@transcendent7lucidity Agreed. Haoshoku Haki is about willpower and the Baron's choice to use Lily and live in a dream based on the blood of real people shows he doesnt have a strong will. I really liked this movie and how well written it was, there was someone breaking down this movie but for me I realized early on that he(evil guy) had brought them to this island to purposefully break them apart,to cause problems and cause them to argue so they could all be split up and easier to capture since he knows maybe that they aren't a crew to mess with, especially as a whole. For me this gave off some sort of madoka magica vibes or full metal alchemist, the part with the arrows is what made me think of madoka magica and I like the tonal shift in this movie in contrast to how the first few vibrant and happy/happyish. This series has gone along with its happy theme for a long while and is very consistent with it but I like the sudden change,to be honest, you wouldn't have even expected this kind of vibe from this movie despite the change in art style, for someone who had watched this for the first time I wonder how it felt to just slowly realize that this ain't the vibe they saw on the poster lol
This movie was directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who made The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars, and that same style shines througout the film. It's a great watch, but if you go into it expecting a traditional One Piece story, you're gonna have a bad time.

@@jevooon hope u make friends and find your father soon 😢😢😢😢😢
why do ppl in the comments keep shitting on this movie & it's portrayal of the characters? the strawhats are still really early on in their journey (only a couple months at the very least), so they havent even gotten to water 7 & robin's arc by this point. their trust as a whole is still new & easy to fracture if someone picked at the right nerves. and the baron's had literal years to perfect his method of doing so.
@Deez Nut did you have a stroke in the midst of writing your comment?

Crazy how the most loyal and first person to join the crew died last
Does anyone else think the art style in this movie is sort of Devilman Crybaby like anime style?
Even though its non canon, this probably the very first time Luffy did kill a person, like if you compare any other villain from movies and canon version, Baron make them look like a saint.
@domainhami5253 explain
If you really watch the movie, then you should know very well about the plot instead of uttered some bullshit by tied this to canon version lmao
"If he got killed then lol he must be even weaker than a celestial dragon" ah yes, lets compare pissed off Luffy against bloodlusted Luffy who literally goes for the kill, this is a simple logic that you can't even understand.
@domainhami5253bro didnt watch the movie
Robin got caught off guard by the arrow shot that literally redirects itself to its target
This is before water 7 and skypia. The arrows dont automatically redirect, and can also explode
this movie is pure horror

katakuri looking like guts and smoothie looking like griffith:
"The Sabaody Effect", what a nostalgic moment!
His crying is actually so sad, especially when it came to Usopp nami and zoro. The first three member of his crew.
this movie is fantastic.
Bro if all the movies were canon I think luffy would’ve been the pirate by brute force.
Hearing Blackbeard’s voice actor here just makes me imagine Blackbeard making the straw hat crew dissapear into the darkness

@@9751matt idk about most telegraphed as dragon ball will sit there during a charged blast instead of running it's just the shock factor
If I used my sharpest attack on it at this second, he should only have one arm.'
Piccolo and Buu are some of the only characters in dbz that use stretchy arm attacks, and not only is it usually for surprise attacks, they are both regenerators.
He gives me WAY more surface area to hit then a normal human's arms and legs."
And do you know what the worst part is?
The author seems to be fully aware of this!!!
When Katakuri fights using the same fighting style as Luffy, the advantage isn't JUST that he's a Logia and that he's overall stronger.....when he does his extending fist attacks, 9 times out of 10 he makes his ENTIRE extended arm both armored in haki....AND makes his arms cube-like in shape, as if making his arms into the shape of metal support beams. He's basically giving his extending arms both the consistency AND shape of armor or shield or something that can't be cut easily.
Remember when Gohan tried to strike a large black cube made of metal (or like-metal)?
th-cam.com/video/P22F17cYWng/w-d-xo.html
Its as if....Katakuri is FULLY aware that, in the One Piece World, Luffy's attacks should not work at all unless his arms are properly protected.
Nop. It's not cannon

@@transcendent7lucidity Agreed. Haoshoku Haki is about willpower and the Baron's choice to use Lily and live in a dream based on the blood of real people shows he doesnt have a strong will. If he did once then it died the same night his crew did. Omatsuri is in some way like a heroin addict who never recovers and will do anything and hurt anyone to get his next fix. To leave the real world where willpower is needed and return to his imaginaly blissful paradise where there is only pleasure. One bloody needle at a time.

Bros about to show him what Negative Diff looks and feels like
I really liked this movie and how well written it was, there was someone breaking down this movie but for me I realized early on that he(evil guy) had brought them to this island to purposefully break them apart,to cause problems and cause them to argue so they could all be split up and easier to capture since he knows maybe that they aren't a crew to mess with, especially as a whole.

To be fair, this was pre-Enies Lobby. Post-timeskip, Baron would be easier. Also, he used psychological horror beforehand, if the Straw Hats were a team there, he was toast.
