    Great tip on the foam pieces. I have the foam for when I cut carbonless but I didn't know about the placement for spine.

    Does your collator put the square back on those? I don't see any cracking, did you crease them first?

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No square back on my collator. I will crease some cover stocks before collating. In one of my videos I score an 80lb cover on the Morgana before collating.

    What is the lightest stock you'd laminated single sided? Or the machine's spec as listed?
    Have you tried 80 lb coated text? Will it make any difference using gloss film or velvet/Matt film?
    I'm looking for a single side laminator, what do you think are the most important criterias to watch for on the list?

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not laminated 80 lb text but that would be fine. Buy a D & K. They are simple, solid and manufacture their own film. Its all good.

    Hi Dan, is there a reason why you don't laminate your sheet when they are imposed 2 up. Then cut them after laminated. Is this to do with the grain direction for the book cover that you mention in another video? Thank you for another great video.

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you are correct. Sometimes I print two up covers on 13x19(long grain) but most of the time I print on 19x13(short grain). Just depends how thick the spine of the book is and what size the book is.

    Hi! I got a question: i've noticed that you put a piece of copper (i think...?) wire at the exit of every machine that folds or stitches or... is it for de-magnetize paper electrostaticity or something else? I apologize for my bad english. Thanks!

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it is to eliminate any static charge that the paper might have.

    Hello Dan, I'm a graphic designer and willing to start a printing business as well.. I was looking for equipment and lemme tell you, the auto laminating machine-just like the one you have-costs a fortune here. So I opt to buy a semi-auto one, the problem is that it doesn't cut the film at the sheet's edges so you have to cut it manually and I'm afraid that would affect the cutting and trim precision later ( especially business cards) .. Are there any tips you could share on that concern? I'd appreciate your help.

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That shouldn't matter. Just keep your printed product back from the edge .25 inch and trim it off.

    I come across this issue: single sided laminate, soft touch Matt film, 1.2 mil , superstick for digital, digital print (Canon machine)14 pt gloss cover, for perfect bind. Once bound, the spine where it fold or flip, we can see the film come loose at some spot(not the whole length and was good when it's flat ).With you experience, what might be the factors causing it? Thickness of film? /grain direction of cover? / thickness of cover?
    Besides, you think low melt films are better? or should choose the film which need higher temp?

    • @justaprinter
      @justaprinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd suspect the thickness of the paper. Slow down laminating speed and/or increase temp a few degrees. Grain direction must also be parallel to the spine. I don't know about different temp films.

      No they are not. You would need to cut the cover off and throw out the glued spine and laminated cover.
