One singer, Tomi Joutsen, and he is great. I think he has handled the growling really well from the start, but his cleans have improved so much that I don't even know which one I love more nowadays. That's why I love their songs as they include almost always both. Of course we shouldn't forget other band members. Amorphis was great even before Tomi. And Amorphis has been around since 1990.
Along with Nightwish, Wintersun and Amorphis,
the following Finnish band is an absolute MUST.
You can describe the Finnish death-metal band Children of Bodom as having a "crushingly brutal, yet melodically complex sound that combines million-mile-an-hour power chords with sweeping arpeggios, Vai-inspired solos and infectious leads.” And the frontman singer/songwriter/guitarist world-class musician and the best metal guitarist in the world Alexi Laiho (R.i.p) became a Guitar World celebrity columnist between 2004 and 2005.
Laiho was arguably the greatest guitarist of his generation. In 2008, he was presented with the Dimebag Darrell Shredder Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony.
He tradically past away 2020 at the age of 41.

Wether I enjoy a singers growl or not various a lot.
For me its about adding texture and creating dynamics, so switching up growls and cleans at relevant parts of the songs is something i've come to enjoy quite a lot
Growling adds the explosion of raw emotion that I can't get from anything else. It also works as a drone and let's you concentrate on other melodies that are going on. It's a different art form and I love it, but the music needs to be interesting enough for it to work.
Liking growling is only about how much you've listened to it. Mostly everyone will learn to like it eventually, some faster than other. It's a taste just like any other.
I couldn't agree more. Even though I'm not a full on fan, I am curious about it, like HOW they can do it. That always baffles me.
I say watch amorphis live and you'll like em even more. I suggest listening to towards and against at oulu for forging the land of a thousand lakes. Or the smoke from that same live dvd
"Bloody Bees" would be memorable band name. "Bloody Bees plays Bee Gees."🤔
Amorphis takes a lot of inspiration to their lyrics from the Finnish epic Kalevala and this song is one of those: the story of Lemminkäinen, look it up

Amorphis is the band that made growling possible for me to hear. I didn't like it at first, but the way they make it is amazing
