Rutgers outplayed Houston the whole game except for the final 2 minutes, what effort by Jarreau and Co!
I wouldn't say they outplayed them the whole game. Rutgers was pretty clearly outclassed in the first and last 5 minutes, but dominated the middle of the game.
Rutgers big man had a terrible last 3m. Missed dunk missed put back layup missed rebound..etc
@@Korijenkins1414 outclass lol they missed dunks and layups. Rutgers was a better team they played not to lose in the last 5min. Plus Houston need to say thank your to geo baker for giving them the ball.
@@SPAWNOFSATAN013 Rutgers lost so apparently you're wrong.
Lol right
The announcer saying "it's not how you start it's how you finish" was clueing you in.
As a Rutgers fan man the ending hurts but mad props to Jarreau he has my respect, and good luck in the future I’ll be cheering for y’all
thanks, I think ya'll deserved to win, the fouls called on you at the end seemed tacky
I said those Rutgers boys would be tough and y'all were. Congratulations on a great battle.
@@ianlindblom6579 as a fan I definitely felt that way but that’s basketball, doesn’t change the fact that I’ll be heartbroken about the game for a few more days
@@mattheworlando2358 usually were on the other side of it, was weird watching mich make the finals 2 years ago when that game was stolen from us
@@ianlindblom6579 all that matters now is that we comeback next year, and survive and advance
Three years ago Houston lost a heartbreaker to Michigan in the round of 32, three years later I found joy beating Rutgers in improbable fashion.
UH has some Greek fans?!
@@StreaminGreen we’re a very diverse school
This game was a street fight - if Houston makes the Final Four this comeback will be remembered forever. This is exactly the type of game a high seed usually loses in the second round.
Houston did indeed reached the Final Four.
14-2 run to end it. What a finish for Houston
As a fan of neither team (who picked Houston in my bracket) - that was the most painfully slow comeback/ending ever. Houston gave Rutgers EVERY chance to put it away, missing so many free throws down the stretch, but then decided to take the W in the end because Rutgers wouldn’t. That Houston defense is real! 💯👍
Cap Rutgers defense is better ik we blundered but the refs gave the game as well we had 0 free throws all of second half
Just look at the foul that got McConnell out the game
5:59
@@marcodebari3764 The refs didn’t give the game away, the entire team did - very slowly and methodically over the last 5 minutes. 😂💯👍
Jurreau puttin in work under duress !! That’s always the best kind . Huge ❤️ it shows !! Respect that !!
Rutgers made some terrible decisions late in this game. It was wayyy to close to stall as they did. Houston can take this to the final 4
The first stall worked. Baker beat his defender for a layup. After that play, Johnson actually blew 3 plays. The alley-oop, the rebound put-back, and he couldn't save the ball on the defensive baseline. By the time those 3 plays didn't cash in, Houston had the lead. If Johnson makes 2 of those 3 plays, Rutgers probably wins. Unfortunately, we know he was injured.
14-2 run to come back and win it after that first bucket by Rutgers.
That missed dunk into the 3 by Houston was a huge swing
That was the whole reason why they won crazy bro an open dunk like who would of thought he would miss that
Cougars practice crashing the boards and it pays off big with Tramon Mark tipping the ball in and hitting the free throw too.
What a game
This Houston team is a baby when you look at their team now. It’s a number one team that was born in this year, because now it seems like a juggernaut that has gotten better and better year after year, game after game. Houston will be a force to be reckon with in the 2024 finals.
they tried to run out the clock when they didn't have a lead big enough to run that type of offense... XD
They were up 8 an alley oop to go up 10 missed the dunk. With 4 to play
@@mvpfocus geo baker made a layup and then missed one(maybe got fouled on it) they weren't just running the time clock out completely
@@mvpfocus you act like they didn't run offense the last 4 minutes. You're full of it
@@michaelsuzio4364 exactly
@@bnegs521 I stopped watching the tournament after the Rutgers loss...a syracuse/Rutgers game would have been really exciting...with florida/iowa also both losing there's no team left that I like watching
The missed alley oop by Rutgers would have been the dagger.
I agree. That 5 point swing with the 3 point shot by Rutgers was the momentum changer!
The game did seem to turn there.
@@jamesmartin9401 Rutgers also acted like they were up 20 with the wasting clock only being up 9 with 4 minutes to go. Completely abandoned the style to why they were winning.
Houston was always on my dreaded list of teams to play against in acc
So proud of this squad !!!
If Rutgers won we would have been guaranteed an 8 or higher seed in the final four (Loyola, Syracuse, and Oregon st)
Yeah I really wanted Rutgers to win so there would for sure be a Cinderella in the final 4
@@frail478 that could easily still happen. Syracuse is playing insane right now
Houston came up clutch for me nice job and they probaky will make elite eight but who knows Syracuse underrated
Houston’s offense tends to sputter and have to rely on defense and offensive rebounding but they are unbeatable when both Grimes and Sasser are hitting threes.
@@picklerix6162 Hopefully Sasser doesn’t play like he did today he’s usually a bucket but I guess tournament jitters
Jearreau didn’t want to be taken out towards the end. Great heart on the kid.
Houston...I see you Justin Gorham!!!!!
Go COOGS 🏀
The name of the game: survive and advance
Having Houston winning it all made this the most stressful 15 minutes of my life
Sameeee
I refused to watch any of the game and watched the highlights when the game was over. My nerves wouldn’t handle it. Signed a former UH cheerleader.
This one hurt big time
Go coogs!
Heartbreaking for Rutgers up 9 with under 5 to play.
Leading and missing point blank range shot plus those turnovers did it all for ruthgers...while Houston keep being aggressive and making excellent decision to be chop those lead and be back in the ball game...poise under pressure..congrats to both teams
Close game
At least one Texas team is still here

Go Coogs!!!
If Rutgers played it out right, they’d be still on tv
Epic collapse. Rutgers Ridiculous
Crazy
Trying to scout Houston, does any Houston fans know if anybody in the AAC "zoned" the Coogs this year??? And how did they do against it? Much respect -Cuse.
Houston thrives in the the zone. They always make the extra pass. It's when they're getting played press which is what Rutgers did is when they struggle
I’ve watched houston all year and this team can play well against the zone. They’re unselfish and you will always see an extra pass on a drive rather than just chucking up a contested layup. The thing that worries me is if we can hit those open shots from the extra pass. We are a streaky shooting team...
@@jeffbezos6748 Thank you very much.
@@Eli.M Thank You good luck.
How hard is it to box them out in a zone
GO COOGS!!!
New Jersey team shot it's load too early. It's a Turnpike thing. BadaBing!!
cougar was really lucky. They should pratice more on free throw.
Houston is tough. But this doesn’t dismiss the fact that Rutgers straight up choked.

@@DeathNote_96 It’s still a heartbreaking loss tho.
Wouldv'e been nice to see another upset

Big Man Johnson must still think its surreal...so many things he could have done if he was just a little bit more focused and less "Highlight Hungry" !!

That's funny
One of those worst chokes I’ve watched
So are we still pretending the officiating wasn't completely one sided down the stretch?
All respect to Houston but Rutgers was horribly coached those last 5 minutes. No idea why Mulcahy sat during that stretch.
Thank GOD for Houston otherwise the Midwest region would have been a completely awful regional
What do you mean awful?? Just because the one seed and two seed loses means it’s automatically awful?
@@augmatt1399 too many early upsets can dilute the later rounds
@Williford Bustin more upsets = diluted tournament
When you ask yourself how Rutgers didn't make the tournament for 30 years... just refer to this epic choke. They literally chose to lose too.
Oh ok. So it was this roster playing for 30 years. Makes sense
2 pts in the last 5 minutes. That won't win many games.
Rutgers wasted a lot, a lot of time initiating offense.
