    probably it can be said that the Static general step is the most famous and practical step of Abaqus. it is one of the available steps of Abaqus/Standard solver. it is developed for simulating linear and nonlinear static and quasi static problems.
    This step does not take the inertial effects into account. Therefor you cannot use it for simulation of dynamic problems because inertial effects play an important role in dynamic problems.

    Hi
    would you be able to tell me how to include static general step in keywords please.

    • @FemexIran
      @FemexIran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi.
      There is no need to include it from the keywords because it can be defined easily from the Abaqus/CAE.
      We edit keywords to add commands which can not be defined from the Abaqus/CAE.

    I have dealed with two loads types one is concentrated on column and the other is cyclic on beam and I want to ask how represent them shall I define them for two deferent steps and if i do that what the time shall be given to the column gravity load or combine the two load types in on step?

    • @FemexIran
      @FemexIran  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi.
      According to your explanations, I guess you are modeling a beam-to-column connection.
      Here are the answers to your questions:
      1) If the parts are made of steel, there is no need to define gravity load. But if they are made of concrete, you must define the gravity load.
      I suppose that they are made of steel:
      2) you must define two steps:
      step 1: applying the concentrated force as preload.
      step 2: applying the cyclic load.
      3) time period of step 1 must be 1 second and you can suppose that the time period of each cycle is 1 second so the time period of step 2 will be equal to the number of cycles.

      @@shadymostafa9375 You are welcome.
      So you must define three steps. Step 1 must be defined to apply the gravity. Its time period can be set to one.
      In step 2, the concentrated force must be applied.
      In step 3, The cyclic load must be applied.

    would you rather to model a three point bending with 3D elements and damage behaviors WITH #DynamicExplicit or #StaticGeneral ??

    • @FemexIran
      @FemexIran  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi. multi-point bending test is a popular test in engineering and it is a good idea to model this test. we will do this in the next videos. thank you so much for your suggestion.

      @@FemexIran can you may also consider a 4 point bending test in rcc beam with concrete damaged plasticity so that vertical crack propagation and diagonal crack propagations can be simulated at the end of the analysis with static general step.

    I am trying to simulate a test for 100 sec and the crack fully propagates in 0.1 sec. I tried the dynamic step and still having the same problem. Any suggestions?

    • @FemexIran
      @FemexIran  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi. it seems that the mechanical behavior is not defined correctly. because before the enough increase in the load, the crack propagates rapidly. I think you must check the units and values of defined material.
