I really appreciate how much you know about the Filipino cuisine and culture. It goes to show how much you love your wife's family. You learned so much through the years and make sure that the girls will not forget about them. Mabuhay, Benjie!
Leah is such a joy to watch, she's very nurturing like a lil mama, lol. Benji I learn so much about different foods on this channel, some people only cook every video its nice you mix it up and take us with you, so fun. I miss mama too, wait until Leah starts to watch videos she did with her again, but maybe later on when she really understands.
Leah with the skyflakes box 😂 so cuuute!! also, the snacks she first picked I bet are what she always have at mama’s house especially the mogu mogu, you can’t really resist but to spoil them with the things that remind them of mama because that’s what keeps her alive in their hearts and memories ❤
Leah & Mama's bond was so special!! She really loves her Mama❤..... interesting vlog maybe my next visit to Washington we'll hit up that Filipino store!
Thank you Benjie for always introducing Pinoy or Filipino Foods to the world! We really appreciate it... thank you Leah for remembering mama always.... God bless!
It’s like watching JB and the twins all over again. ❤ you have some very smart and kind little girls! Bella is so blessed to have her bigger sisters. They also have the best parents. ❤
Love that Benji does not pretend to understand Leah....I think Judy takes it personally that Leah is not speaking as well as Bella. Benji just tries and muddles through it. He loves his girls.
So glad I found your channel. I am part Filipino and learned to cook some dishes from my father. I miss him so much so I can understand how Leah feels about her Grandmother.🥰 I am also part Japanese and did learn to cook Japanese foods. You have a beautiful family. Blessings from Hawaii. 🌺🙏🌺
Love how you and Judy sometimes “take turns” with “The Littles”…❤ Love how you have “Daddy/Daughter Day” with each beautiful daughter.❤ Love how Judy goes ‘thrifting’ … and how the girls love to go as well… I LOVE-LOVE how you BOTH encourage each daughter to have their own tastes and minds-and talk things out, even with little precious Bella-whose explanations of why she wants something are priceless!!!❤❤❤
You should try making Vietnamese stuffed bitter melon soup, canh khố qua! It was my grandmas favorite, and we grew up eating it a lot, but never truly appreciated it until my she passed away. Watching Leah remember Mama makes me miss my Ba Noi so much!
We love a local Filipino store 🩷🩷!! I remember going with my mom as a kid and getting to use the small shopping carts. So nostalgic. Also side note…why did I not know there was a difference between regular panko and Japanese Panko?! I used Japanese Panko to make Katsu tonight because y’all talked about it on one of the vlogs and it’s was so much better!!
Ooo I Love Filipino Avocado ice cream. TH-cam it is so easy to make! With condensed milk mmm A friend of mine taught me how to make the pops. Just would love them. Somehow I believe Juliana would too! Benji I love to see you hanging out with Leah. She is so Happy shopping with you. Awe give Leah a Big hug from me to her please.
Hello benji. And leah🤗 leah is such a cutie she is s little mamma ❤️. Thankyou Benji fir shoeing around the phillipino store im going to check out if we have any local stores were i live 🇬🇧 it woll be interesting to try some foods from there. Thankyou. again 👍🇬🇧🤗
Hey :) i love all your cooking videos..I've watched every single one. so happy your posting everyday.. i have a food request if possible.. Parmesan truffle fries please :) thank you and keep up the great work
Filipino store is everywhere, here in Vancouver we have a lot, lucky that we can even buy fresh asian fruits like mango, jackfruit, lansones, etc..ty Benji for showing what the inside of a Filipino store looks like, tc always, you have such a wonderful family….
Also, should get regular IndoMie MiGoreng (similar to yakisoba, but diff altogether and from Indonesia/Malaysia, SG), then top with a sunny side up, and drizzle with red wine vinegar. Soooo good!
Hi Benji, thanks for sharing filipino food items. My husband loves to cook too. He also shares some of his recipes online. I would love for you to try cooking Dinuguan. 😄
Mama and Leah’s relationship was like my grandma (Nanay) and I. We would walk to the grocery store by my house every week and she would buy me the same groceries like Leah would. Also the rice balls were called bilo bilo.
@@BenjiManTV she’s gonna savor that memory of her always. Your girls are so lucky to have that time with her. I miss my grandma so much. So I know how that feeling is with the kids.
bitter melon, season ground pork: salt black pepper ginger and garlic powder. wash and prep bitter melon stuff w ground pork mixture. cut into 1 to 1.5 inch slices. ur going to make a broth to cook this in, stock pot half full water, 2 box containers of chicken stock, 5 tbsp of fish sauce and some salt. skim the top as its boils 20 min. voila. add glass noodles if u want to the broth. chili oil to ur bowl if u want spicy. ❤🎉
Benji, since you bought a lumpia wrapper, can I suggest Turon? Sliced bananas with a little sugar then wrapped them in a lumpia wrapper. Then deep fried them. It's like lumpia but banana inside. Very easy Filipino Merienda. 👌🏻
Benji, you should have gotten that Spiced Vinegar from Datu Puti! So good! Especially with lumpiang shanghai! Also, I hope they bring in the Clara Ole brand of sauces. Definitely better!
The sweet glutinous rice balls are for a sweet soup-like dessert called “tong yoon” (Cantonese) or “tuan yuan” (Mandarin) or commonly known in English as “tang yuan”. The sweet soup base often consists of water, ginger slices, sweetened with rock sugar. Other popular sweet soup bases are: red bean soup, black sesame soup, and fermented glutinous rice/sweet osmanthus/rock sugar. The balls with fillings are pretty easy to make from scratch, but most people tend to make the soup from scratch and add in the store bought frozen balls for convenience. I call it “tong yoon” bc my 2nd language is Cantonese and it originated in Southern China. It is typically filled with sweet black sesame paste or a variety of other flavours. There’s also a savoury version of this, also called by the same name.
We normally use kangkong, not bok choy, in sinigang. Also, when you cook adobo, you can leave the sauce and cook the kangkong in it. Adobong kangkong is delish.
If it interests you, making tocino and longanisa is pretty simple. Lots of recipes online. You can use your own ingredients and avoid preservatives and food coloring. I bet it would be cheaper too and you could make and freeze a large batch.
Benji, those Ube pancakes are SO bomb!! I've made it as cupcakes too and it was better in my opinion. The recipe is on the back of the box. I highly recommend it! When you guys come back down to San Diego, you should film videos trying Filipino foods here! and a grocery store vlog at Seafood City! :)
I relate to Leah. I miss my grandma’s cooking. Don’t get me wrong, my mom’s an excellent cook, but something is so nostalgic about my grandma’s version of the dishes …
get 7 packs of thar MAMA ramen noodles. cook 3 seasoning packs and oils Drain. 1lb of ground pork or beef. add 2 seasonings n 2 oils from ramen packets. add 1 tablespoon sugar and oyster sauce , green onion, cabbage to meat after cooked. …pretty much ramen stir fry. don’t forget pasta water, 1 scoop separate pan asian omelette 5 eggs, teaspoon of fish sauce. teaspoon of sugar. mix eggs w that fry like an omelette. cut in bite size pieces topped on ramen stir fry garnish w green onions or chives. siracha or chili oil for ur spice taste if you want. cheers
How you pronounced milo, as an Aussie, was so strange. We say my-low and use multiple table spoons. The best. Popular in other SE Asia countries too. Also, indo mie and mama noodles are so good. Loving these grocery vlogs
Omg all this time when you said Arroz caldo I always wondered what is was. LOL!! It’s pronounced Ah-roz that’s Spanish for rice! And caldo is soup! 😂. Now you need to teach us how to make it, I’m dying to see how you like it! Also, just saw the video of you and Matt at Sur la table and I bought an All clad set! Can’t wait to get it!😁
That wok is aluminum that's why its so light. Asian countries have a lot in common with one another. That indomie hot and spicy ramen is so good it has a sweet soy glaze got me hooked on it!❤🎉 u would like it!
Benji, you gotta try the mi goreng (indo dry instant noodle you picked up - but try the normal flavour) if you haven’t yet!! You drain the noodles and add all the seasoning after and it’s the best!
Benji try bitter melon slice thin with slice beef,Chinese black bean & garlic and some oyster sauce add a little sugar to take out the bitterness. Yummy. 😊
beer w ice normal but is also preferential! in manila most establishments do serve beer cold AND with a bucket of ice on the side, so you do have that option :) but as you said, maybe some areas dont have refrigeration so ice is definitely a must :) also, there are many different types of bagoong! much like your salts they also have different tastes and textures lol but generally the same salty fishy umami (and sometimes sweet and/or spicy!) flavor profile. You and Judy should try stir frying with it!
You can slice bittermelon into thin slices, then sauté garlic, onions, tomatoes, add bittermelon and 2-3 eggs. Ampala-yum! You can search for ginisang ampalaya with egg recipe. To prep, wash the sliced bittermelon, sprinkle salt, rinse and squeeze. So it isn’t too bitter. I eat the dish with calamansi. Hehehe. Good for breakfast with rice!
She’s such a sweetie 🥹
Leah IS Mama’s girl…she’s got Mama’s cuteness
Mama will always & forever be in Leah’s heart ❤

The indome hot and spicy noodle that Leah picked is sooooooo good! Must try.
You should try making Vietnamese stuffed bitter melon soup, canh khố qua! It was my grandmas favorite, and we grew up eating it a lot, but never truly appreciated it until my she passed away. Watching Leah remember Mama makes me miss my Ba Noi so much!
I love seeing how Pilipino and Mexican foods are so similar.
We love a local Filipino store 🩷🩷!! I remember going with my mom as a kid and getting to use the small shopping carts. So nostalgic. Also side note…why did I not know there was a difference between regular panko and Japanese Panko?! You are on point with that Aloha Shoyu and the Hinode Rice ,Hawaiian salt shrimp ch. Spam. Definitely Hawaii raised.

Skyflakes condensada is good for kids, Datuputi is the Pinoy soysauce that Mama is using I think. You skip it
We use the mini rice balls in GINATAAN. Famous pinoy snack. :)
OK! Imma grab one!
Thanks Benji - learn some Filipino foods 😊 Interesting about Filipino food grocery store😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The shrimp chips Leah picked out are my fav 😋
Wow! Those prices are high. I'm from Hawaii I thought ours are high.

The song Isang Linggong Pag-ibig (a-week-old love) by KZ Tandingan is playing in the background.
