It was a battle of legends in quarterfinals, which saw Norway’s Torstein Horgmo up against hometown hero Travis Rice. The two legends went toe-to-toe in the quarters, but it was Torstein Horgmo who eliminated Travis Rice and advanced on to the semifinals to face-off with Jared Elston.

Style and balls! I’m sick of the normal slope style comps these days. Not taking away from those guy’s because those rotations are ridiculous but it’s just the same thing, who can add one more rotation. This back country contest’s are dope as eff!
Once you get Torstein in a backcountry/side country event, you’re seeing another level of competition

I'm just so blown away by the way these guys navigate the trees... The jumps are incredible... but the skill it takes to hit this run at those speeds blows me away.

Awesome competition and it’s hard to see on the video how hard it actually is to blast huge air and then still control your speed on the landings.
the snow conditions look pretty tough. Looks like just a bit of powder on a pretty firm base (dust on crust as we say). I think that's why they're finding it so hard to control the landings. They're washing out when they go to speed check.
These 2 both added far more to snowboarding progression than anyone in the last 15 years.

Love this style of comp.. made them interesting to watch again! Although I gotta say, the shameless product plugs/selling is really sad and ruins it.
@@BobbySKeight for sure they do.. but some do it in a way that isn't as blatant. Product placement and suttle, well crafted, plugs don't disrupt the flow as much as this did.

is torsken riding the capita super doa? i think people see here why its problematic, its too quick. you have to break unaturally close to a jump. its too slippery

They’re riding obviously out of control because whilst on toe edge, their downhill shoulder is outside the nose of the board. They are quarking.

i remember watching these two head to head in xgames 2009 when i was a kid
At this time the judge's have seen all the trick's that rider's do in their run's. While it is true the cleaner you pull and land a trick the better. Now in these run's I am seeing something new that the rider's can put into their run's it might be time to start tail tapping tree's, or if the rider has enough courage and skill try a redirect off a tree.
