Drove an IMCA modified for a few years and a friend put me in his late model one night and I was shocked at how hard you can drive it into the turn and it sticks.
In my personal experience I started in drifting then I bought a ump modified and ran it 2 seasons and I had fun but it just didn’t fit my driving style and my buddy that had a late model had been wanting to try drifting so I let him drive my drift car during a couple sessions one day and he said it is the closest he’s ever gotten to driving a late model in terms of how they handle in turns and he knew I didn’t really like the modified driving style so he offered to let me run his late model and I ran his late model one night then the next day my modified was listed on market place and I bought a 2018 Swartz by Boggs late model about a month later after the modified sold and I haven’t looked back since
