    I'm the guy who bought this bike. It's a beautiful machine. I have had it almost a year now and it's the best money I've ever spent on a vehicle. The man you hear talking here is a Class Act! He put a lot of time and money into this machine. I don't think he wanted to part with it. While the ride is nice, the comments people make are even cooler. "What is it?" is the most common question. Bandit, if you are reading this, Thank You very much Sir! I hope all is good in your world!
    Peace brother

    That's it.
    My father and I have always been prejudiced against old school cruisers since we like the bikes that can race up the twisties, but I was always curious as to what they'd be like.
    Seeing this bike has now officially converted me, cause that bad mutha is just awesome.

    First I apologize for not responding to everyone sooner, frankly I lost access to the account until recently. Aging sucks....and I'll just leave it at that. I'd also like to say thank you to everyone who took the time to view the video and offer their thoughts. Really cool and I never expected it. As for some of the issues, I have to admit you guys really did a great job of critiquing it. TH-cam videos have come a long way since I made this. Folks are absolutely professional when it comes to reviewing products or offering insight or how to videos. Here's how this video came about. I was a little bummed out that the bike was up for sale but I needed the cash and decided to shoot the TH-cam video as a link for the Craigslist ad. No script, just trying to share things I thought a buyer might be interested in. I've been told the gas mileage estimate is way too high but when we fueled it and did the math calculation that was the number we got. Could I have screwed that up...sure. I probably should have done a couple of em just to be sure. As for the "girls" bike comment...I wasn't trying to offend women but I was addressing the mindset of too many male riders that smaller displacement bikes, especially metric ones, are best suited to new or smaller stature riders (often ladies). In hindsight I see Rina's point and probably could have said that better. As for the many questions about specific parts of the bike...I'll try to go to each comment and post an answer. I no longer have the receipts or records but I'll do my best. Everything was purchased online and most of the parts were identified by name in the video. Some of the smaller items like the turn signals were from J&P and modified to fit the bike. Thanks again to everyone for the feedback....It's been a blast. Ride Safe - BP

    this bike looks sweet but i think would look better in matt black with a dark grey and blood red detail to the matt black which is what i will be doing to mine when i get it

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Batty251. I admit to being a black guy myself most of the time. I've stayed away from satin or flat paint due to the problems with fingerprints and some petroleum products that have been known to leave marks. In this case the cost of a custom repaint just wouldn't make financial sense given the value of the bike. As it was I lost about $1K on the deal but had a great time and that made it worthwhile.

    I love those bars what is the part number of the bars I want a set for my 08 v-star. Also love the license plate holder where can I get one of those that looks awesome.

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Steve. Both came from Barron Custom Parts. These are the bars: www.phatperformanceparts.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BA-7304-03&click=37735&gclid=CLHCxNXanNACFdgagQodAGoDBA. The license plate/tail light combo was for the 1100 V-Star and modified to fit the 750 which has a slightly smaller fender opening.

    Just one question, the V star 650 Classic and Custom both use clockwork carburettors instead of electronically controlled injection. Does anyone know if this adversely affects the throttle response or anything like that?

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      launch4, I'm no engineering wizard but I suspect the price point on these bikes wouldn't allow for electronic injection at least at the time this one was built. The fuel rings I described in the video did provide a positive improvement in performance when cranking the throttle and fuel mileage in routine operation.

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Killer, the rear tail lights are actually marker light by Arrow (see my reply to JJeyJackson above) and you can get them from J&P here: www.jpcycles.com/product/3300670. The mirrors are Kuryakyn Chrome Ellipse designed for a Harley. You can get an adapter to fit them to the Yamaha. Here's a link: www.jpcycles.com/product/750-447

    The rear chrome license plate mount you got on looks great but Baron customs website has that for 1100 vstar custom only... Would they be the same fitting??

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that's the same one. You'll have to do some grinding to make it fit the 650 fender opening but it works.

  • @jjeyjackson
    @jjeyjackson 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Please post where you got those rear signals. Have 2013 650 custom and love it.

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey JJey, sorry for the delay but I know I answered someone on this before. I got those from J&P Cycles in Daytona. I believe they are called marker lights and were made by "Arrow" if I remember right. It did require some modification of the chrome fender rails by drilling a second hole to feed the wiring. Found them here: www.jpcycles.com/product/3300670

    Thxs for info. One mounting bolt located at the front.. Did owner have to drill at all to get fit?

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're asking about the rear passenger pegs mounted to the forward frame, no the Yamaha had two existing bolt holes that were probably for an engine guard bar. It just worked out that I wanted to remove the passenger pegs for a clean look and they fit up there on the frame. A little bit high and tight but at least it kept them on the bike if I decided to take a passenger with a fender pad. Just pop them off and back on the rear swing arm. It would require removing the side bag however so it really wasn't practical to have passengers.

    I have a 2009 vstar 650 custom and i can't find that swingarm bag anywhere. any help would be appreciated. also, don't let the negative comments about you saying "girls bike" keep you up at night. people can be overly sensitive in todays P.C. world. I'm sure Most of us know what you meant.

      Thanks Elijah, will do. As for the bag it came from J&P Cycles and here's a link: www.jpcycles.com/product/831-384 Apparently it's still available. They also have a large selection of similar bags to pick from. Good Luck!

      Hi Rina, you are absolutely right. I certainly could have done a better job of trying to confront the stereotypical attitude that smaller displacement bikes lack the power and stature to be considered a serious option for a male rider. This bike was up to the task of being a fun ride for anyone, male or female who had an interest in it. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. -BP

    65 mpg?

    • @daytonabandit01
      @daytonabandit01  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Larry. Yeah, in hindsight I probably should have checked the math on that one. My 03 Harley Road Glide was averaging about 36 mpg at the time and this bike always used about half as much fuel over the same distance. I'm confident it was over 50 mpg but 65 might be optimistic.
