The voice actress for Ashley did such a good job for this section i felt terrified with her especially when you run to the elevator to escape the knights
You know, I think this small section where you play as Ashley really helps put into perspective the absolute shitshow nightmare she's in. I've heard people say that Ashley is annoying and doesn't do anything useful( At least in the original) but I think that's sorta the point. She's not some specially trained soldier like Leon or tough as nails girl like Claire who can adapt on the fly, she's just a young girl in a scary as hell situation and is just trying to do her best to make it out of it alive.
Exactly, personally, I never found her annoying, I figured out how to keep her safe and from being grabbed and kept adapting since I first played it. Whenever she was grabbed i understood her yelling Leon help, who wouldn't if they were in her situation? Not to mention it helps me find her on the fly
Have to say completely agree with this comment, also makes you care for her more this game. Her small dialogue moments remind me of Ellie from last of us.
This part was fucking nerve racking. I just got through it, and my hands tensed up the whole time, and I think my heart skipped a few beats on occasion, and my pulse was racing.
This part is absolutely terrifying. Now I fully understand the absolute nightmare she is going through. At least Leon can shoot and stab his enemies. Ashley is far more vulnerable though.
yup just looked this up to see what i would have to deal with bc im like how am i supposed to do this with no weapons....you learn something new everyday i guess🤣
I love this section. It really grounds you again to the reality of the situation, and how truly terrifying this would be to someone who is just a normal person, not used to this madness like Leon, Claire and the like. Plus by this point in the game you have killed so many monsters you become desensitized to it in a way, and i think this was a nice change of pace to bring everything back down.
I do appreciate the fact that she's not completely helpless against the enemies and can use the lantern to freeze them even if it's only for a few seconds. Or run away from them. If they made it where if the enemies spotted you the game was over that would have made this section so frustrating. I HATE HATE HATE insta fail stealth sections.
The Sherry part of re2remake was one of those insta fail stealth missions and boy I hated that shit. It was the worst part of a great game for me. Though I will say this section in re4remake also kind of sucked after Ashley leaves the latern because you can't see jack shit to figure out where you are unless you constantly consult the map.
This was a great Remake compared to RE2. This is like playing back in 2005 again... I already got the Infinite Launcher, Sweeper and Handcannon and i'm glad they got rid of that stupid giant target when aiming using the Rocket Launcher.
I'm literally shaking doing this part I keep having to tell myself I'm not Ashley and that I'm okay but shit, this section really showed us how terrifying it must be to actually be there😭
Big heads up here. If you go to the mausoleum and get the Salazar emblem BEFORE getting the bunch of keys. You will not be able to go back and retrieve the lamp. Effectively preventing you from advancing. The only fix is to reload a previous save
I thought it was a bug at first because I already knew the clock settings, so when I got back to the library I couldn't remember where to put the Salazar emblem, so I thought I was stuck there and I had to reload a previous save. Good thing I found the door to use the emblem before I f*cked up. You can advance with the game, but as you said, you can't get the chests after with Leon.
This remake is awesome, so much more puzzles and effort needed in order to progress, the other two remakes were so straight forward and simple I could beat them both back to back multiple times before I could finish this one
You're forgetting about the replay aspect which adds up, the tofu and hunk section on 2, not to mention the originals themselves were also short games. Re2 was a great remake regardless of the nonsense time argument, and this game was always a longer game and one of the longer games when it comes to re franchise. It's just tiring hearing the same old bs with how short they are when they've always been short it makes absolutely no sense. Re3 was a shitty remake, but all in all a decent game that could've been so much better. Based off originals you can't even compare them because they're from different times and upgraded to different systems
@@jamieeberhardt5552 don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed both 2 and 3… but just because the original source material was short doesn’t mean the remakes needed to be as well, they could have thrown in some extra bits to make elevate the games past their older counterparts, that’s what RE4 is doing, they’re adding in new aspects to the game while keeping a lot of the old stuff that make it great, adapt, but also improve, also RE3 remake feeling like they just threw it together real quick as almost an add on to the RE2 remake which was loads better… even some of the combat in RE3 felt slightly clunky compared to RE2.

Would’ve been cool if in the beginning of the game, we got to play as Ashley trying to run away from Chief Méndez. Sort of like RE7’s kitchen demo in a way where it acts like a prelude to RE7. Ashley will of course be highly underpowered so you have to rely on stealth and wits to get by. At the end of the segment, she could be on the path leading away from the hunter’s lodge only to be recaptured and then the game starts from there.
Playing this on professional and after Leon gets captured and Ashley is trying to free him (meaning you have to play at least the last head for the statue again) Ashley keeps getting bludgeoned at the end of this section when she has no light......Just tried my third attempt and killed at exactly the same spot.....Just threw a PS5 controller across the floor in frustation.
This is seriously the scariest section of the game. How do you make a game where you stab, shoot, kick, and suplex monsters scarier, switch you to a character who’s only defense is stunning enemies, has no health bar and therefore dies in one hit, and overall isn’t as capable as the player is used to. Ashley’s tons of fun to play as just because her sections so tense in such a different way that Leon and Ada’s are.
I really enjoyed this part! It's much more fleshed out than the Ashley part in the original. Gotta admit it's somewhat remniscent of the Beneviento House in Village though.

I went all the way down to get the Salazar Insignia before getting the keys because I knew the correct time for the clock from the 1st playthrough... well, turns out if you do that you break the game because there's no way to get the keys (you can't interact with the thing that opens the secret stairway). What an annoying glitch. Also, you get autosaves of course which means you can basically replay from your last regular save.

I couldn’t get the lantern back because there were about 30 iron armor guards in that area.
I think the game locks the lantern after u get the salazar emblem on purpose, so even if there were not any knights you wouldn’t be able to get the lantern back.
Is it possible to lose that blue lantern? I had it up to some point but somehow lost it in chaotic situation and now i dont have it... Could someone please answer?
It never runs out until you reach the end of the bottom part. You will need to place em till you get the emblem and sadly you need to run without light.

I got fucking stuck in the Ashley section because I couldn't do anything with the elevator. That was fun. Hey, if you do that, too, and go to the mausoleum BEFORE riding the elevator up for whatever reason, a door opens on the opposite wall to where you enter the library and you can just bypass it.
F that elevator got me killed several times cause the map SAID to go there, not the side door to right that opened up, Also they need to drop WAY more small resources so you can make more bullets and shells ffs.
Wish i saw this earlier. I died two times not knowing where to go after unlocking the elevator. I thought my game bugged and couldn't progress any further. Didn't see that there was a path that opened up in the library
I don't get how people are getting locked out of progressing. I've literally done 4 straight playthroughs and skipped the keys and I've never had a progression issue.
There is a clock right next to the big one which tells you the time to input. I did this first and somehow ended up back in the library with no lantern. Not sure I can even progress now.
I tried to complete this section without the clock door skip, it never once prompted me to place the torch down onto these switches. Pretty sure this is some kind of glitch

Pray for me everyone I’m playing this on VR
Bro good luck, this part must be terrifying, and in VR... just try not shitting your pants for this part ok? Good luck and sending prayers
Ngl this moment pissed me off I didn’t know where to go and kept running in to the knights
Daniel from amnesia: First time uh?
Nighty-night... Knights.
Thanks bro. I've always despised this since the original
Yeah I would have to play to understand the fear. this person rush through it all so I couldn’t really get the fear rush like everyone else did. even if I have played it and know what’s coming I at least want the viewers who hasn’t seen it get to feel the tension and fear of what’s coming. He plowed right through it all anyway I think Leon going up against the regenerators is more scary then this
Yeah I was the same way with outlast until I played it
This is a bit like being chased by the giant mutant baby from Resident Evil Village.
