I think that the people who feel like they did better on paper 2 are those who revise the more difficult content in detail and focus less on the easier parts bc it means that you overthink and overcomplicate the easier stuff. (At least I’ve realised that this is my situation)

I like that paper 2 was more application to the knowledge but paper 1 just felt like recalling in a sense (if that makes any sense lol)
Yeh cuz I did AQA course material from 2010 from open study college and then there's always topics I just was never taught that aren't too hard but I was just never introduced to. For physics for example I never saw anything in my material about upthrust and viscosity until I started doing past papers and had to do last minute revision on it. So if there's retakes I cam pass with high grades I just keep encountering shit that they never put in my watered down course material
I think I’m part of the few people who found paper 2 easier than paper 1. I actually finished in good time.
I literally missed the whole log modelling question in p1 💀 but with this one I managed to answer everything so let's go

I really struggled on paper 2 :( I kept messing up the Ln/Logs-related questions

I’m actually relieved there are mixed reviews lol hopefully more people can get the grades they deserve
But the reviews are not rlly reliable though... cuz we don't actually know what they mean by hard. Some people call it 'hard' even though they managed to answer every question. Some people may call the paper 'alright' even though they missed 20 markers question.

I found it a lot better than paper 1, the only questions I struggled with were the Q14 trigonometry and part C of the binomial integration
Part c) of Q14 could be done by parts or u sub

I really liked this paper. however timing was tight imo. I gave it everything! Q14 was interesing. I included (1+tan^2 theta)= sec^2 theta in my workings so hopefully that gives me a mark
After this you multiple everything by cos^2x, convert all the sinxcosx's into 0.5sin2x and factor sin2x from everything, since you had the right start youll hopefully get a mark yeah
@@dd-6497 i did that but factoring it i just didnt see it so hopefully i get 2 marks, but me messing up that easy factor just cost me the other question cuz i just gave up after that
Timing was definitely put to the test for sure… I ended up spending over half the time on the first half and having to rush the last few questions a bit but I still just about made it lol

@@pinkiepiek1d808 for statistics- have a good set of notes maybe like a page that you can constantly refer to when doing exam questions, for mechanics don’t underestimate the importance of drawing diagrams first. This applies to both, don’t neglect questions u get wrong, save them or make a note of them and redo them until u get them right. Also try and do the exam style papers from the textbook + the last 3/4 questions from each mixed exercise. Hope this helps!

Paper 1 was a simple exam but i think i was caught by how simplistic the questions were and was rushed for time. Paper 2 being more complex, but that type of difficulty is what i prepared for. Some questions did cause me to stumble a bit (trig and parametrics was a bit of a flop) but i think i did well on what is harder paper which is ideal. Hopefully 55-65 on average for both papers will be an A

@@doofusboy7054 Harmonic identity is the Rsin(θ+x), Rcos(θ+x) etc. And in this paper it was mixed with arithmetic series

I MUCH preferred paper 2 to paper 1. Those questions are the kind of ones I can actually do well, even though I didn’t get to finish, I hope I’ve bagged the marks I need.
Same I couldn’t finish I had no time for question 15 and could barely think straight for question 14 because I was running out of time
@@yas.8wow I had such a similar experience lol, like I spent slightly longer on the first half to get as many marks as I could but then had to rush the last few questions, but still did alright I think. I skipped 15 anyway I’m terrible at proof 😂

I wouldn’t should I struggled on Paper 1 but paper 2 wasn’t all that bad in my opinion.
It definitely felt better than p1 but i think it was way harder lol, it was like 50% calculus
same i finished with 30 mins to spare but for p1 i finished bang on time

@@omrdark3357 yeah paper 2 was generally harder for sure but maybe that proves it’s more about the topics each of us are more confident at personally than whether they’re ‘easier’ or not. I felt like I achieved more in paper 2 than paper 1 even though paper 1 did have content people generally consider easier.
i liked paper 2 much more - it had a lot more of the sections i'm stronger in. i found the trig question awful but it was worth less than some of the others so i'm not beating myself up over it too much.

This one was so frustrating to me. I just ended up panicking cos of time, and didn't finish any of the questions past 9. I knew how to do them, I just rushed them, and ended up missing stupid things, it was so irritating afterwards realising how many marks I could've had if I'd just slowed down and focused on the question in front of me. I hate exams so much, like I understand the maths, I just can't do it under so much pressure.
I get that. It's so annoying knowing that it could've gone better. I struggled for time with this paper too. But we got one more paper left. Let's put our best foot forward for paper 3 :)
You still gave every question a go and trust me, you’re not the only one who panics under exam pressure, so the grades across the country will reflect that a little bit. I’m sure you did better than you think as well especially if you still attempted everything. All the best!

Paper 1 was a god send, first 10 questions on paper 2 were really nice, and then it just went downhill really quickly, apart from the trig identities question (q14)
Fair, I ended up spending too long on the first half of the paper so I had to rush the last few questions anyway, but I think I’ll get loads of marks for those earlier ones so not really a problem. I glanced at q15 but completely skipped it cause I’m terrible at proof and didn’t wanna waste time in the last 5 minutes lol
9 and 10 were 100% the hardest questions on that paper...
Worst paper I've ever done for math. Period. Usually I get B or A but I doubt I even did half the of the paper this time. Everyone was saying it was easy but I'm so so crushed and upset.

Usually i finish with time spare so i left alot of part b and cs to go back on. I didnt have anytime to go back so easily lost 10+ marks. Paper1 was much better imo.

It was a bit odd where they changed the number of significant figures that they wanted the answer to halfway through Q8. Part a said 3dp, but later it went back to the 3sf specified on the instructions on the front of the paper.
omg in the last minute realised they went twice round the track literally saved that mark by the skin on my teeth
I found this paper better than paper 1, and timing wise it was much better in my opinion.

It was actually other way round for me. I made up the marks I lost in paper 1 today in paper 2
same i missed out so many easy marks in paper1 but i was cruising through the beginning of paper 2 so hopefully it all adds up

There were a LOT of small markers for questions which I felt like were worth a few more marks like the proof question at the end
There wasn't any integration for areas which shocked me

Answered 7/15 questions. Absolutely bottled it, lovely paper but was very distracted. Really loud, annoying noise outside our exam hall for about an hour. I'm not someone who can filter that sorta thing out.
Is it possible to email one of your teachers to put you into a separate room for the rest of your exams? These are big exams and you should be placed in the best possible environment for you to perform

Let the exams officer know immediately after or during the exam let the invigilators know - they will try to do something to help you, if not take it to the exams officer so that they can make a note of it and maybe give some compensation?
I have good news.
I emailed after the exam occured and I think a few students complained.
As a result I got an email back today saying the college is looking into special circumstances.
They were aware of it at the time but it wasn't happening on the college premises so they couldn't do anything to stop it. I'm very greatful as they haven't taken the issue lightly and they've said that they are going to ensure it doesn't happen again by keeping the local estate in the loop of exam months. So hopefully future students aren't affected!
I actually much preferred paper 2, Definitely played into my strengths. Hoping that I got around 70% or so. Q14 was the only one that I left pretty much blank, maybe a mark for attempting the first part.
Honestly, I acc want everyone to do very well and get the grades u lot want. Everyone smash paper 3 come on!!!!

nahh i loved this paper more idk why i struggled on paper 1, think the nerves got to me more the first time. the ones at the end took me a while but got there eventually. hope paper 3 is ok

I found this way harder than paper 1, unofficial mark scheme got me like 90 marks in paper 1 but this paper I prob got around 70 cause of the amount of dumb mistakes I made

If you mean the show that where A and B are constants to be found question, I just differentiated the final thing, got to the start then put the steps in reverse order.
It was tight on time for me, didn’t have any extra time to double check over answers :(

I think prob around 78% based of the first two, not gonna be much higher than 2019

@@farokhvali5630 Easier papers and they wanna reduce the proportion of ppl getting A*s in our year I’d say in between 75% and 78% for an A* but I would aim for a high percentage ofc just to make sure I get an A* for my firm

Paper 2 took me the entire 2 hours to read and write every 15 questions, which wasn't just okay to complete them on time.

If A were to be around 61% what would A* typically be around if anyone has any idea would be v appreciated
I would say anything from 72-78 percent x

I would say absolutely MAXIMUM 80% but the highest its ever been for an A* is 76% in 2018 so I highly doubt it would go above that (especially as people either found paper 1 or paper 2 really hard which mitigates the high grade boundaries - I think there are very few people who found both easy)

I just hope this comment section (myself included) are all on the higher end of the distribution because we've found it easier than p1 when in reality it definitely had the "harder" questions cos otherwise grade boundaries r not looking good 💀
i think generally people found this paper harder than paper 1. I think a lot of people here prepared for difficult questions that didn't show up in paper 1 but did in paper, whence why they prefer it. I hold similar sentiment but i think that paper 2 will catch loads of people out
Noo I literally didn’t do the proof by contradiction (3 marks) and the cartesian form (3 marks). I don’t understand why was there no hard integration or like parametric . I did the trig question in the end but was it worth it?

A* is always pretty consistent even when the cohort was j further maths students in 2018. Wont really be higher than 220, but aim for 225 to be safe id say.
Im barely coasting through on IQ i feel like i havent actually studied because i didnt practiced the level at which they combine different topics. Like in IB ur asked simple things like u have a ball of mass 20kg going at 10m/s whats it momentum (5points) but here its like combine ur knowledge on implicit parametric and partial fractions to integrate {[8ln(x^5)+e^4t]/(cos²θ-tanθ)}×x²yt (1 point)

i somehow got the sum on question wrong and got something around 851, i somehow got 0 on the final part on the question integrating between 0.4 and 0.2, i forgot that on one of the integration questions that its the modulus in the ln and because i got a negative value I just gave up, forgot the plus C on the rates of change and didnt answer the trig Q. Other than that, everything else was fine i think, much harder than p1 but then again, the first 10 Qs were fine and the last few were the most difficult.

Hi Mr Bicen for revision would it be alright to do edexcel further maths practice questions? I do AQA but there seem to be loads of resources and Questions for Edexcel compared to AQA online. Do both exam boards cover the same content?
Yes, they do - there's huge overlap, I have been running study sessions for FM and lots of students weren't from Edexcel and said they found it all really useful, which tells me the content overlaps loads. I need to look into it myself in more detail!

Assuming you’ve got 75 so far - and that you get 45 on Paper 3 - that’s 120/300 which is a C
You could get 100% on Paper 3 though which could push you up to a high B / low A

how to do the modulus range one?
for the vectors one. i made up values for the distance then i calculated the average speed from the made up distances. will i get any marks for using them correctly even if they were wrong?
maybe a method mark?

but isn't the total distance of 1 lap just the sum of the magnitudes of the vectors? then just do average speed=total distance/time?
