Shin Megami Tensei 4 Boss Sanat [MASTER]
First time playing through SMT4 series.
This game has been recommended to me multiple times.
I've decided to exclude the additional choices from the main story and just keep it full top screen (Beside in Boss fights). Every option I choose are CHAOS answers.
Pre-ordered a 3ds built in capture card a while ago 2016 (February) from Keity, but it takes around 5 months for them to make/ship it (I received it July 8th). Originally I had a 3ds XL just for this game, but the screen on a handheld device was just way too annoying to play on, and I'm not a fan of that but now I can play 3ds games on a monitor/tv with a lot bigger screen and it's a lot better now.

Imagine this pile of flesh going up to you on just one meaty wheel.
Half the crap in SMT would scare me to bits but this would absolutely make me lose my sanity. I would be begging for the Ancient of Days.
I think the wheel is meant to represent the cycle of suffering as living beings eat each other.
According to his description, Sanat was an old god that got conflated with and absorbed into Lucifer in the Abrahamic traditions, and one of his godly epithets was 'Ancient of Days'.
That hints that Sanat is an aspect of Lucifer in the same way that Ancient of Days was an aspect of YHVH. It would make sense too, since the actual Lucifer is somehow absent from the SMT IV world, as the one in these games was just half of Satan according to Apocalypse. And Sanat behaves a lot more like the Lucifer from other games.
Lucifer is a boss fight though. He isn't absent
@@TheKarui In Apocalypse, though, we learn that the Lucifer in IV and IVA was half of Satan. Meaning that it was controlled opposition, YHVH was using it as a puppet to divide humans and maintain its rule. So it's not clear if the Lucifer in IV and IVA is actually the Lucifer we see in other games.

@xid He's still not the full blown chaosgang Lucifer we know and love though, since he's a YHVH "sleeper agent" and stuff. Sanat seems to fill the role of the usual Lucifer shenanigans here and it could even be assumed that he had something to do with Kenji being a chaos alignment rep or something in IV's pre game lore, especially with his dialogue about "planting the seed of chaos" and stuff.
@xid he isn't the classic Lucifer at all, and that should be very obvious from how he's shown in IV. In other games (let's take strange journey for example), he is an omnipotent being that alone usually equals yvhv or his equivalent in the concurring game. Guiding humanity or manipulating it behind the scenes to work against yhvh the same way yhvh would do. In IV, not only is he clearly significantly weaker than any of the incarnations he's been shown in (strange journey, raidou 2, III, DeSu, etc.), but he doesn't act like the manipulator we all know and love.
So in Theosophy, Lord Sanat Kumara is an "Advanced Being" at the Ninth level of initiation who is regarded as the "Lord" or "Regent" of Earth and of humanity.
At first I thought they tried to play around with the Satan name. Guess not.
Theosophy seems to try and combine the religions of Hinduism and Christianity from what I'm reading though, or possibly demonize Hinduism. Sanat is usually equated/bastardized into being Lucifer and stuff. I don't really understand it properly but it's at least something to go off of.
honestly, Sanat's description almost matches Satan/Lucifer's perfectly, with both beings being considered "lord of the Earth" and technically "master of humanity" as well due to the Devil having a stranglehold on the entire human race due to the Original Sin.
at least you didnt fight him with his weakness to gun/pierce, then the gaea rage stuff would've happened a lot sooner (made that mistake my first time fighting him)
Ya know I was wondering why he wasn’t spamming almighty moves like he does for me. Holy hell I refuse to grind holy wrath for this fight. Megidola hopefully should suffice
@@oomsou5018 if you have concentrate and party buff skills you should be fine. its primarily hp and mp management and prepping for that gaea rage usage he has thats inevitable once he drop sot a certain hp threshold. when he gets close to death thats when I feel most comfortable doing power charge into strong gun/pierce moves, but everyone has their different approaches to bosses so at the end of the day do what works for you best.
@@CasterOfHope tbh i won cuz of his weakness since i used aeshma gun skill 3 times in the end when i only had the mc and aeshma alive plus aeshma after mc got killed dodged 2 gaea rage then used the gun skill 2 times to win by pure luck
@@oomsou5018 i managed with a lot of buffs and delibitates and my mc had megidolaon and and had some demosn with holy wrath and ended winning with gun weakness since tbh he was already almost dead and spamming gaea rage without me exploiting his weakness
I usually wait until he starts to spam Gaea Rage, then start unloading on him.

Yes this design is pretty flawed, but in motion it does look pretty unnverving, like this giant fleshy thing is just cruising around and hitinf the earth with Gaea rage is pretty dope
I find interesting that this game has the more threatening theme in the divine battle than in the demonic one.
Sanat seems pretty chill compared to Ancient of Days

@@zaqareemalcolm one thing that I found was that one of Sanat's titles is "The ancient of days" that means both universes you fight Sanat but one is his Chaos interpretation and the other is his Law interpretation
@@GabrielRodrigues-ts3kp it's because SMTIV kind of implies that Law and Chaos mirror each other rather than be complete opposites, and it might've also been foreshadowing the revelation about the two alignments in SMTIV:A

He kinda ressembles the archangel designs, except meaty instead of robotic.
Man, SMT IV has some of the craziest & insane demon designs in this series... Too bad the new demons from IV Apocalypse look generic in comparison, specially YHVH's second form.
Though the new changes to some designs were well needed. Like Lucifer, merkabah, odin, and medusa’s new designs looked way better

My crazy conspiracy theory is that Sanat is actually Demi-fiend, and that the battle after the True Demon Ending forced Lucifer and Demi-fiend to become one in order to survive.
I mean, almost all of Sanat's skills are Magatama skills, he's part of the Chaos race, he fills the role Lucifer usually takes up, and he references previous humanities.

What does he mean when he says 5th humanity?
Sometimes, God and the angels/Law alignment wipe out humanity if they deem it suitable, i.e. if humans act as filth/unholy/disorderly, etc.
After which, they start anew, again and again as many times as they see fit; hence, the current batch of humans isn’t necessary the first and only.
According to Theosophy humanity is currently in its fifth root race stage. Considering that this particular side quest (and more) in SMT4 is based on Theosophy, I suppose the 5th humanity is referring to the fifth root race.
@@DengueBurger honestly, the logic behind that is pretty flawed, since the "2nd", "3rd", "4th", and "5th" humanities were chosen from members of the "previous" humanity, so technically the human race is still on version one.
Because this is the 5th main line game (yeah, strange journey is a main line game)
I think this is not on master, i'm at 10 minutes of video and didn't see he using 2 op skills that are one shoting my whole party, this or the boss hass some trigger mechanic that i'm doind that makes he so op

honestly... where is sanat from? Seriously, his appearance feels a little forced and out of place. The ancient of days is more organic, I mean it is an avatar of YHVH but, sanat, what exactly is Lucifer? If it is obviously related to this or it is just an ultra powerful demon that came out of nowhere and that's it.
I think he is from theosophy, basically either a demonized version of satan from the old testament or an advanced being that watches over us so that we evolve and stuff

Although interesting enough sanat here is a bit similar to Demi-Fiend what with having skills borrowed from him and complete with the chaos race.

That's why the fight would take place in Amala Network. I'm pretty sure most of Demi-Fiend hard hitting attack would destroy a continent or something along the lines...

@@someguyparagon5273 Continent? End of Nocturne demi-fiend withstands a blast from Kagutsuchi that must have been universe/multiverse tier. Not to mention Kagutsuchi's infinite light that he uses throughout the battle. I'd imagine that the whole multiverse would be at risk in a serious battle involving demi-fiend.

@@sock312 the Ancient of Days was portrayed as wanting to kill everyone, while Sanat was portrayed as just testing the people of Infernal Tokyo.

It kinda makes sense; King of Chaos has a completely chaotic design. ...Though, most of IV's new demons and old redesigned demons have just as chaotic forms. I like Kaneko's demon designs better because his are simple, straight-forward, and memorable. Ishida's demons all look like meshed monsters, but I guess it fits IV's universe.
They all look like Eldritch horror abominations and I love that.
