The colour of the voice is incredibly beautiful , the coloratura technic is perfect, the expression very pleasant. I only would appreciate a more developed low register (very important in this aria where Rossini plays with the contrasts between head- and chest voice with jumps of two octaves).

Julia Lethneva ist nach wie vor das größte Talent in Sachen gesanglicher Kunstrichtung in den nächsten Jahren. Deshalb sollte sie aber auch sehr darauf bedacht sein, dass ihr Umfeld instrumentaler Begleitung - wie hier durch das Tchaikowsky Sinfonie Orchestra zur Seite steht, das ihr auch den zustehenden Rahmen bietet, den sie verdient!!
The timbre itself reminds me of a mix between Tetrazzini and Callas in very lyrical roles. And she tends to have the same 'problems as Callas - I dont' mean the top notes, rather some 'settling' into pitch at times. This is possibly the most lucid, beautiful rendition of this disastrously difficult aria. When people sing it at all (No, Joyce doesnt really sing it) it tedns to sound technical. Here you have sheer beauty and magnetism.
Why do you think Joyce DiDonato "doesn't really sing" this aria? So what does she do instead when she performs it? Would be grateful for your explanation, cause it seems to me that in her performance cited at: K3JAmupMV68 she reaches absolute perfection (brought me to tears) though I can agree that Julia Lezhneva sings this aria much more "naturally" - it's a breathtaking, , ravishing, nightingale's singing - while Joyce DiDonato makes an incredible artistic creation of it. I love both renditions, they both are gorgeous!
listen carefully to the coloraturas and the scales - she manourvres them instead of singing through them. It all sound heavy and she uses extra musical phrasing to disguise the fact that its simply too heavy and demanding for her. And I love JDD
Well, I agree with you, I have the same impression - i.e. that those extremely fine and brilliant coloraturas are simply difficult for JDD. But - I shall express this thought once again - in a very intelligent way she makes a real piece of art ("artificial" comes from "art...") of what apparently is her weaker point... Great artist! And what concerns Julia Lezhneva - read my comment under the same video delivered by Alejandro Frutos on YT written after I had I listened to this rendition for the first time - I was completely bedazzled and ravished!
Anderson is admittedly the best of a miserbale lot - but it is rather workmanlike and lacks Lezhnevas line and articulative freedom. Plus, Anderson is almost always below or under the pitch
She is wonderful but she is also an example of the fact that most people don’t get Italian bel canto there is a reason the Milanese booed Fleming at her debut in Lucretia Borgia. This is so anemic and passionless it astounds.

June Anderson's beautiful rendition is worth a listen. She sings the aria with great sensitivity and a flawless sense of line
