  • This documentary film is based on a comprehensive study by a team of ORF researchers on the shocking mismanagement of the Mithi by the authorities and her abuse by Mumbaikars over the years. Its narrative combines facts with compelling visual evidence to show how the Mithi became a sewer -- and offers recommendations on how it can be turned into a pristine river again. With key lessons from the best practices on river restoration and waterfront development from around the world and in India, this study presents a grand vision for the Mithi of tomorrow as the centrepiece of Mumbai's own urban renewal.
A film by Riddhi J Chokhawala, Gautam Kirtane and Dhaval Desai

I'm am an architecture student and a resident of Mumbai. I came across this video in my search for information about the mithi river. And I'm blown away.
The shear facts and dreadful scenes shown here should be enough wake up any civil person into working towards the betterment of the mithi. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case. We students have been given a project of develop a module for riverfront development projects which can be used effectively in an Indian context and get back our rivers again. I hope to work on this particular problem which we ourselves have created due to our negligence and arrogance and try to come up with a suitable solution.
Thank you the information and the wake up call.

The whole of India needs to watch this and regain pride in their rivers and natural environment. This needs to be translated into all the local indian languages and broadcast all over the country, A basic grass roots movement needs to take place for people to realize the importance of the environment, not just for environmentalists. Sad to see so few views on this video. A pathbreaking research about a topic that should be close to every Mumbaikars heart and yet, the public apathy to this topic continues...

I live in Helix Oregon USA and I have read of this river and how polluted it is. I wish it is cleaned up too and people quit trashing it after that. I have a friend that lives in Mahim, and he deserves a clean river, as well has the rest of the people there.

Nine years after your comment the reality on the ground is not much different, local municipal body, blinded by greed, is probably the most corrupt organization in the whole of India. People still keep voting for these buffoons hopefully in the upcoming local elections they will be thrown out.

Write an email to them or to any of its members and see where that goes, the TH-cam channel does not see any activity your best bet is mailing them.

I would like to work for the rejuvenation of Methi river! I just don't know how to yet! The biggest reason being the opaque way and order of the MMRDA. Mumbai is the richest in terms of it's tax collection money. I wonder where it is all going.
