    Which pencils are these?

      Hi, the color pencils that we use in class are Color Soft by Derwent. These are wax-based color pencils and what we can obtain in Singapore. If you are elsewhere, another very good brand is Sanford who produces a a type called Prismacolor which are equally good.

      Hello Mahi! It's wonderful to hear about your interest in pursuing a career in jewellery design. Since you're in India and just starting out, here are some steps you can take to explore and build a career in this fascinating field:
      1. Research and Self-Study: Start by learning as much as you can about jewellery design. There are numerous free resources available online, including TH-cam tutorials, design blogs, and articles. Look into the basics of design principles, different types of jewellery, and the history of jewellery making.
      2. Local Workshops and Classes: Check for local workshops or short-term courses in jewellery design. Many cities have community centers or local artisans who offer classes. These can provide hands-on experience and introduce you to basic techniques and tools.
      3. Visit Museums and Exhibitions: Spend time visiting museums or exhibitions that feature jewellery. Observing historical and contemporary pieces can inspire and provide insight into different styles and techniques.
      4. Networking: Join online forums and social media groups related to jewellery design. Engaging with others who share your interest can lead to valuable advice, mentorship opportunities, and insights into the industry.
      5. Internships and Apprenticeships: Consider reaching out to local jewellers or designers to inquire about internship or apprenticeship opportunities. Working under experienced professionals can provide practical skills and industry knowledge.
      6. Portfolio Development: As you learn and create, start building a portfolio of your work. This will be crucial when applying for further studies or jobs in the future. Include sketches, designs, and any completed pieces.
      7. Further Education: Once you've explored the basics, think about pursuing formal education in jewellery design. Indian institutes like the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewellery (IIGJ) offer specialized courses.
      Remember, every great designer started somewhere, and your passion and dedication will guide you on this exciting journey. Good luck, and let your creativity shine!

    THIS is not for designers, too detailed!

    • @JdmisEduSg
      @JdmisEduSg  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's an interesting comment. It depends on the designer and and their intended purpose.
      If you're working in a jewellery company making designs for a product manager to approve you may never do this type of colour rendering. If you are doing a bespoke design for a customer, especially one with some very significant high value gemstones, then having a professional colour rendering can help to close the deal and provide a valueable element for the customer to keep to remember their experience with you as a designer. Even today with computer-aided design we see a lot of high-end bespoke jewellers incorporating traditional hand drawing techniques into their sales process because of the unique value this adds.
