To me he's the mid matchup king. You don't get good at heroes unless you are willing to play them into whatever the enemy picks over and over and over again. When QoP arcana came out and Topson had showed what he was really capable of, I had always wanted to play Riki mid and started to because you could dodge most of the dagger throws with tricks and had high base regen to survive the lane with. Then I just started picking it into anything, Viper or Sniper mid matchup be damned. I'm convinced it's the only real way to get good at the game. If you play every single game afraid of last pick Huskar, Spirits, SF whatever you will never get good enough to win against it and you will just rage and blame the developers. You should embrace the challenge and focus on your heroes strengths, itemization options, look for pickoff opportunities against what you can kill, be mindful of who can kill you and when, etc. You will become a god with whatever you spam if you do this. FotM mid hero pickers always rubber band their MMR unless they dedicate their entire life to grinding MMR like a degenerate then it gets nerfed next patch 80% of the time anyways. I went from like 54% winrate safelane Riki to 61% mid Riki almost never buying the sleep dart shard when it existed because I played for pace and my own impact.
