When 17th gets cleared, the residents all move to Springwater/82nd.
When Springwater/82nd gets cleared, the residents all move to the woods near NE Airport Way/138th.
When the woods near NE Airport Way/138th get cleared, the residents all move to Rocky Butte.
When Rocky Butte gets cleared, the residents all move to Marine Drive.
When Marine Drive gets cleared, the residents all move back to NE 33rd.
This shell game costs a lot of money, lets the city say something is happening, and doesn't accomplish anything.

Exactly. 100 million dollars to steal the homeless people's only shelter, so they can start all over in a free tent. Yay! I'm so sad for all of us. I avoided the tow trucks, but now I just drive around, alone, scared, without any resources. I have contacted everyone, even Blair Best, but I got nothing in return. Because I don't have kids and I'm already in a program there is nothing available for me. I guess you gotta trade your kids for a tiny home.

First off, I'm not a vagrant. I'm a single female, without children and I'm homeless. Women are being turned out on the streets and nobody cares. There are more women then men out here. Not all of them are strung out junkies, some of them have a chance, but Portland won't help us.

I don't think charging someone without a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of would work .Work camps would be much better they get shelter and food in return for working on public works projects like cleaning up bum camps and parks, scrubbing graffiti cleaning sidewalks....If they don't like it they can have a bus ticket out. The homeless problem would be self correcting as this would no longer be the homeless destination .

As one of the few conservatives still living in the Portland area I’m so frustrated all I can do is laugh. A smart person can learn from other peoples mistakes, a stupid person has to learn from their own, I am seriously starting to wonder about liberals ability to learn at all.

The current system is clearly ineffective. The homeless camps persist, they just change locations when cleared.
Every time they clear the homeless camp by my house, a new one shows up, bunch of RVs mostly from Texas and Arizona. The city has to fix their situation that they put themselves into. We keep paying the debt that else levied onto us.
Homeless people need warm, dry, safe places. They need food and showers. A jail cell provides all of this humanely.
Or we let them live like animals and complain about it.
The new road they're using already looks like a dump. Get on it fast and don't let that sh....t happen. And keep the RV's away form the big truck exits.

With no lifetime in housing medical facilities some individuals are unable to receive housing after losing it before unable to keep it from harding, sad.

@@Chemically_Induced I lived in a high work available city in Canada, and couldn't/wouldn't live in the Salvation Army or other shelters because the client base was focused on AnYTHING other than work: snoring, cigarettes, up and outside all hours, and I needed to be at work at 6 a.m.and well restested for a tent hour day. I lived in my truck, bought a city pool membership for clean up, and was better dressed than in an apt. as i had to PLAN my day!! I'd park in parks just outside of town, or long haul truck areas, or industrial parks with little night time activity.

The solution isn't hard. Build absolute minimum shelter (like cots in an abandoned building) ... separate for men and women (you have to know what a man is and a woman is for this.... ask a 5 year old if you have trouble). Force all homeless into shelter at night.... Search and confiscated all drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons before admitting entry.... and anyone refusing to go to shelter is arrested for loitering etc and jailed for about a week (long enough to go through withdrawal).
98% of the homeless problem will disappear in 3 days.

these people are fellow American brothers and sisters and veterans if they can not afford 2,000 3,000 a month to rent a place witch I am sure no one would rent them a place anyway they have to stay somewhere the unknown migrants took up all the free housing and are government will not build housing for the homeless where on earth else can they stay. we as fellow Americans should be treating them just as much if not better than some unknown migrant. they are not bothering no one and if the city would be kind enough to put out a garbage ben there would not be garbage laying all over the place we should be helping these people out not putting them down. big deal if they park on the side of a street just don't look at them if you do not like it. most of these people are good people that just need help and would most likely give you their last dime if you were hungry so what if we have to pay a little more in taxes to help them live in a home no American should be without a place to call home. we are sending billions to other countries for they can live the good life while our own people live on the streets shame on us.

I you are homeless why is it you come to one of the most expensive places to live ? I they truly wanted affordable housing wouldn't one move to one of the more affordable parts of the country instead of living in busted camper on the street? Or is it the fact that they come because the red carpet is big ,lax drug laws, Oregon health plan the bottle bill . All things that draw them in.Maybe we start something like Habitat for the Homeless with some of the billions wasted on foreign aide. Places like Detroit have entire neighborhoods that are abandoned send the homeless their sell them the property for a dollar and in turn they have to work on their homes and neighbors homes to build a community ? Instead of just handing outs it is hand up and they have to work for it.
