Build a bank is so cute❤ 😊 I use 3 banks currently and I'm trying to decide if I should open another bank account. True story- I learned from a banker on Saturday what a money market account is and I'm beating myself because had I KNOWN😮 I would have had one this whole time. You mean there an account that has higher interest rates than a CD and its not tieing up your money and the interest is guaranteed!!! Ugh. Yes so I'm trying to decide if I'm going to liquidate my HYSA in favor of that money market since interest rate is higher.
Now there HAS to be a catch? Is it that you have less withdrawals allowed and it has to stay at a certain balance for 30 days in order to get the interest? I have a Flexible Savings account but the interest rate keeps changing based on the market so it is never constant. Is Money Market Accounts constant/guaranteed interest rates ? Cause I need one too!
@IncomeBabes so according to the banker, cause I asked about the catch, he said No fees, you do need a minimum balance. But it was not bad. $3000. The money market is a brokerage account run by the bank. They apparently buy bonds from the treasury department so the interest is guaranteed. There is no risk associated with your money being invested in the stock market. Only if the government goes belly up would you loose off your interest! Which is highly unlikely. I was flabbergasted! You get a deposit monthly into your account with interest just like a HYSA. And the rate is higher than even the HYSA and CD the same bank would offer. He quoted 4.3% om the MM vs 3.2% om the CD. This was Chase Bank. If they have a version of this in Ireland I would recommend you investigate it!
