I got a 4K TV about a year ago I don't really see that much 8K content anywhere aside from TH-cam. I don't think you can stream 8K and I'm pretty sure you can't buy physical media like blockbuster movies at 8K ?

Where have you tried watching it? If you aren't on a PC or on a 8K TV, most likely the TH-cam App caps the Resolution to the displays native resolution or to an even lower one. There are some 4K TVs out there with an old Version of TH-cam that doesn't support even 4K
I shoot videos on 12k sensor, uploading it in 8k resolution, so I can compare TH-cam’s level of detail between original footage. Also TH-cam does support 8k @60fps. There is not much 8k monitors but there is a lot of 8k TVs and if you don’t have one, it doesn’t mean than no-one does.
Why do you think that? It would be way easier to just buy a few buckets of paint and shoot it for real, rather than waiting 4000h to render a fluid sim of that scale in 8K
