A lot of people don't realize how much work goes into these job's you do let alone putting them out on video ... Much appreciated and thx Super Dave for all the effort ...
I’m sure your videos just get better and better Dave, this one must rank as one of the best, gas comparison, autopsy on the txv, improving ventilation in the loft space and tidying the vangina all in one video!! 👍👍
He's a Super Tech. Man I love to see you making that BendaDooski on the Pipeadooski for that TXVabooski. With a nice radius too. I could do it but it might have had a kink or two. And the Kinks I mean are not the old school Band.
I have cleaned up a TXV with carb cleaner and pipe cleaners. It was not as bad as that one but it cleaned up nicely and is working better than before. Great job.
Hey brother. I been following you for a while. I been in the trade since 2014 and watching your videos has helped me a lot. I’m a service tech in SoCal and i have to admit I’ve never seen flux be used to remove components, I’m going to try it out thanks for the tip
I have been watching some of your videos for about a year now, I havnt seen all of them but I like to see someone else with similar opinions and service procedures, real world conditions are far different than what we learned in class decades ago. There are technicians that just stick to the HVAC and some that just do commercial refrigeration, I think I migrate to watching your vids because like myself I see you working on a variety of equipment . I never know from day to day what calls I may get. I might start out working on an ice maker and the next day it may be a fryer or stove. Its great to see another brother dealing with similar repairs, although I think you might have better scenery to brows from job to job in your part of the country. I hope you continue to make more videos because when I thought I have seen it all, I can turn on one of your videos and see that you've got one up on me. Keep up the good work....cheers and beers from the midwest.
Great job Dave! Man I always learn something. I do like dedicated vacuum hoses I think they let me pull deeper but sometimes you can't get em on. So I put a core tool on the center port and pull through a larger hose to the manifold and I can blank off with the ball valve. Seems to work well if I trust the built in micron gauge.
Love the box fan additional air...used some recycled evap fans from a changeout similar....you've got me thinking re 448...old facility still have some old R22 as well as R404s
I'm switching systems to R449A where possible, old R22 stuff, stuff I converted previously to R407F. R404A is banned here for new installs, plus you can only use recycled R404A to service older systems when the charge is over 20lbs, so you end up having to have two tanks of R404A, madness!
HFC here are getting 10% price increases then another 40% in 2024 so 600$ by then. But the US will still have them. New installs or 50% equipment replacement in California R448a or R449a required.
You're living dangerously with those pens! I suppose those dedicated purpose vacuum hoses have some advantage, but I'd be worried about giving the vacuum extra opportunities to slip away with all that extra diddling around.
I’m coming to the conclusion that a 4 way manifold might be the way to go. The core tools and didiling around just contaminate all the vacuuming. Who knows
@@NorCal-refrigeration My regular manifold is an Imperial/Stride four way set. It came with a larger hose for the vacuum pump connection. It works well, but you have to be careful, or you might use your nitrogen to blow all the oil out of your vacuum pump. Not that I've ever done that. :-P
448a for freezer with hermetic compressors will not work, because of the discharge temp. Also drop in capacity. For scroll with liquid injection no problem. Medium temp is fine replacement.
@@NorCal-refrigeration 449a is almost the same as 448a, different brand Just like 404a vs 507a. In europe we use r452a for freezers. Dont know about availability wereld youre at.
My question about 448a/449a is do they fractionate like 410a? 404a resists fractionation like a champ. The after hours/midnight gas it up and return during the day doesn't work when they fractionate. 410a fractionates like crazy and I despise it. You always need to pull the charge and weigh in fresh before you troubleshoot and it's horrible :(
Have you had any issues with 448A with high discharge temps? My new Copland scrolls are tripping on high discharge temp with the Emerson digital controller 2 water cooled condensers no liquid injection, long line set. One has electronic expansion valve and it only trips the condenser when it modulates really low. Any thoughts??
Good repair Súper Dave . I always use a single strap on my expansion valves 😬, not like the damn bulb is going to fly away 😄. What kind of striker is that ?
I pay $350 for 407f, $295 for r407a, $290 for r404a, and $307 for r448a. I was paying under $100 for r404a last year. It seems like prices are going up by the minute.
How did you pull a vacuum before all the super-duper evacuation crap came out??? IMO It's the placement of the micron gauge more than super size hoses and all the rest of the vacuum queen instructions. Thanks for the video! 🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🍿🎯 Stay safe. Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses!
30 min. Go to lunch with gauges is how the old timers taught us. I have 3/8” hoses for units with service valves that works fine. Units with only schrader valves I was using the core tools but I’m going back to just using my gauges. I gave away the Smurf boner hose. It didn’t fit on smaller stuff.

Thanks for doing a thorough TXV replacement video, excellent tubing bending job! I gonna try your Flux trick next time I get a chance.
It works. An old timer showed me that in the 80’s.
I’ve replaced a TXV on a Pro3 heatcraft package unit before. Very easy, thanks for the tip on 448A, great vid as always dave

I like it! Only thing I would have done different is put a fire extinguisher up in that hole with the other tools. Don't ask me how I know.
I had a bus tub with water up there and a spray bottle. But your right I forgot the fire 🔥 extinguisher 🧯

A good friend who does this like r507 replacement for r404. No glide, same TXV. I have not checked on the pricing.

its nice to see i am not the only one using flux to desolder.
I always have a squirt bottle full of water handy when using my torch. Fire extinguisher usually not needed
Can confirm I have retrofitted 404 to 448.
Slight valve adjust and that was it
I have a video of installing 2 evap coils at the beach 🏖 parts house gave 404a txv’s and I set SH in video.
Pushrods usually fall out on their own-nice job-peace...............
I've tried your Flux trick after your videos I got to admit it's pretty cool
⚡️⚡️ Kenny More showed me that in 1987.

Sweet video! What kind of flux do you put on before you sweat out components?
Harris brand stay-silv flux for silver solder

What do you think about stay brite 8 and stay clean to take the place of brazing?
Do you not sand the braze joints because you use the flux?
Professional work you make me want to learn from you or come work for you Dave 😉
Bueno PerfectDewskit job. !!
Gotta look into that 448a interesting 👍🏻
Whats your opinion on that stay-brite #8 silver bearing solder with flux.
Never used it. But seen a ton on TH-cam and seems to work just fine.

Would you change filter drier later after this install since the expansion valve was so dirty??
He did change it?
Yes system has been opened

The Emerson EK filter/drier will do a better job of filtering out the particulate matter.
I changed it out.
Do you not have shirts for sale? Would love to rock a nor-cal reefer shirt…..
Not yet but looking into a shirt and coffee travel cup.
Any reason you didn't just take a 90 into that TXV instead of making that loopadooski? Just curious.
No not really
Those box fans have turned into my duct tape for moving air

One strap is fine just not the bottom of the suction line.

It’s going up 50% by 2024 EPA phase down. I just saw Traulsen is using R450a it’s a 134a replacement 60% less GWP NON flammable
ive been running with Bluon r458a it works good, but ive yet to use it on walk-ins. any thoughts??
I’m going with 448 or 449 for refrigeration gear. The price is now less. And it’s mandated
