    For every comment about him repeating his story over and over I want to say this. If you listen to any public speaker like for example Gary Vaynerchuck or Anthony Robbins or Grant Cardone, you will find that they have told the story so many times that they’ve actually mastered the ability to get their point across. I believe I’ve heard his story more than 10 different times but for some people they are so great at telling their stories that I actually just enjoy hearing it and in some weird way I get a kick out of hearing the same versus over and over. For those of you looking for him to say something new, would be assuming that he would just go and tell stories about other people because he is living his life now for the service of other people. He does it once in a while tell him his position in life right now but he is on a mission and most missionaries repeat their script. I have no idea who this guy is in the world of jackass or Bam even though I know about them. I was never a skater and I never watched any of that stuff but I am fascinated by the grip of addiction and how people can change. You watch people who lose drastic weight or who go from rags to riches but I think this particular recovery story and others like that seem far more difficult to overcome and for some weird reason it inspires me to be a better person. I hope one day to meet him.

However it's likely that he says the same stuff over and over as its the truth and by saying it out loud he confirms to himself why he needs to stay clean.

    My man Novak is using pre-scripted, memorized lines and that's ok. Some folks need to go through the motions. If that helps him stay sober, dude, that's all that matters. He's just trying to spread knowledge. That's some heavy shit.

      I'd say is more of he says the exact same quotes. Even Raab and Steve O pointed it out on their most recent podcast. Steve O said it's not particularly healthy to only think and talk about your sobriety and past addiction all day everyday. In his testimony it makes sense to say the story the same way. That's what a testimony is.... but even when he was on Joe Frantzs' podcast where they were speaking aboit Bams addiction, Novak brought up the same deodorant stick pillow speech and it wasn't even necessary. Steve O said you can't treat your sobriety like that.

    • @bendavis2234
      @bendavis2234 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @RcUniverseGuy I agree that he shouldn't be using the same words and be obsessive over it. However, it still is something that he has to live with forever. A heroin addict can't simply 'forget' and go on. He'll forever remember the feeling of heroin because his brain has been rewired to constantly be thinking about it, so talking about treatment constantly is the only way he's able to cope with these thoughts. If he wasn't so obsessive about his recovery, I guarantee he'd just go back to using because these thoughts don't just simply disappear.

      @@KCOBAINZ67 He doesn't need to bring up the"3 scarves, stick of deodorant" speech every time. He doesn't need to be so overly calculated in every interview. Listen to Steve O's interviews with Graham vs any sobriety video Novak is ever in. Steve O speaks like an independent person where the words come out naturally. Novak speaks like one big slogan. As if everything is coming from his recovery books and AA meetings. Novak never talks about any different experiences he has gone through.

    Holy shit I've never heard it said it that way. I'm 26, 5 years heroin free, but I became an alcoholic, then I couldn't drink enough to escape.... I was the addict that wanted to be dead, but I was too much of a pussy for suicide and being totally out of it and nodding out was the next best thing. Desperation was essential for me. My last relapse on alcohol the only holes blood wasnt coming out of was my eyes and ears. Liver/kidney was shot, I was yellow as a banana, and I literally thought I was going to die during my detox. I did it at home bc I dont have $ for rehab. It was so scary bleeding on my insides having seizures and getting really dizzy with no medical help. The only reason I survived was because of Jesus, no joke, I didn't grow up going to church but Jesus found me and I cant deny Him. But he needed me to stay alive because my mother's dead, and I'm my father's caretaker and I'm the only family he has left. THROW AWAY D.A R.E. AND JUST PLAY THIS PODCAST AND TOMORROW WILL BE DIFFERENT. I bet it would have a much better impact on drug prevention

      Hey congratulations! I hope you have been maintaining well since this comment. I completely threw away my 20’s because of a similar level of alcoholism (bleeding when using the bathroom, unable to lay down comfortably because my liver was so bloated). And got started on opiates at 20 years old, stayed on them till 28. I have to keep a vigilant mind Every, Single, Day. That’s so awesome to hear you found God like you did, I did too. Completely changed me as a person, keep up the good work!

    On a sidenote, it sucks Vito is gone, cause it would be awesome to of had his input on the podcast.

  • @marksantory4405
    @marksantory4405 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Damn man a lot of people hating on Novak for saying the same story, but that's his life story. He is just passionate about recovery now and is on fire right now in his sobriety. It's just how a lot of people talk when asked shit because you figure they tell their life story so many times that it does become a scripted type of thing. It's kinda funny bc you can tell which comments are from people in recovery and understand his same story again seeming scripted, and which comments are from people who are just not alcoholics and are pissed about his same story. Be happy you're pissed about hearing the same story again bc it probably means you have a decent life and will never have to struggle with the horrible hell of alcoholism.

    "Even in my bad times, my life was still better than....." I've been there too, taking the positive stock in one's own life, comparing it to the lives of others, and you feel as if thou you've accomplished something, remaining sober. It's NOT JUST SOMETHING, but everything to the one that has decided to "go sober", which really, isn't that "dirty of a word" if you've ever been down that low. The ability and ableness (not that that's a word, lol) of one after conquering one's addiction, is that of intoxication. Feeling that one's sobriety is more important than that of another's, is folly. One can think oneself to be superior due to this or that, but whence one initiates such an endeavor, such has realized such folle of one's endeavor.
