what is being used for the motion response, kinect? or i would think some higher-resolution custom setup? i ask because in this and mortal engine, kinect would lose tracking on the dark parts... just curious what alternatives there are
Mr Weiss utilises infer red motion tracking I believe. The image is calculated through difference in a sample frame. There will also be a source of infer red light illuminating the stage. IR cannon of some kind. He codes the visuals form scratch. Incidentally, I don't think the Kinect would have difficulty in the dark as it is a depth sensor... At least in my work it's not been a problem. Draw back is the range and the quality of the image if you chose to utilise it in visual design.
Huge Fan of your work!!! hope to be as good as you one day
