    Isn't Amass the original creator and sole manufacturer of true XT150 connectors? I'm pretty sure the ones sold at Hobby stores are from Amass themselves. Did you mean the crappy Amazon ones are from a different vendor/manufacturer besides Amass?

  • @ljtvanman1
    @ljtvanman1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I'm confused. If you go to the HobbyKing website, it says that their XT150 are not cheap imitations. They are manufactured by AMASS.

      The ones on Amazon are probably knockoffs claiming to be Amass. Amass is the original mfg of the good nylon body XT series connectors.

    Should we be using any flux to help with the solder?

    soldering these xt150s took a while and wasn’t the tidiest and I couldn’t use the both cases to connect the male and female so they share one case each. I’ve 3 phaze wire setup with one casing on each not 2. It helped to push bullets together easier. Will this be ok to do. Seems to run ok but im a little anxious. Ahah

    Thanks for all the useful information. I bought some xt150 connectors to use between my motorcycle stator and rectifier. The stator produces 80V at 6.000rpm . You think these connectors will hold up? Thanks!

    Heating up the XT150 (or anything else) takes much longer with a dry iron. You should always have thin layer of solder on it to transfer heat more effectively.

    Hey there, I am making the switch to XT150, thanks again for the vid. I am having some difficulty though. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make the connections. Here is how I'm thinking its done:
    ESC: Female large red housing, Male skinny black housing
    Batteries: Female skinny red housing, Male large black housing
    Charger lead: Female large red housing, Male skinny black housing
    If that's not it, I'm totally lost.
    Thanks.

    What heat do set on heating iron to solder xt 150 connectors

    • @mikebarra6828
      @mikebarra6828 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My iron goes to 480. I set it to highest. If you can go higher that's better.
      I heat up the tinned connector 1st to get solder in molten state, then insert wire, then apply tip to wire.
      I keep the connector vertical in my wood jig so the solder pools about half way, leaving room for wire and its tinned solder to occupy. Result is a full cup and solid connection

    Guru Ji, AMASS is better than most of the other XT series Battery connectors.
    When you said, there was a problem with the female XT150, the only problem is 1) soldering issue (cold solder) 2) the brass socket has no contact with the mating Male connector. This is the problem with (again) soldering issue) You need a soldering iron with a minimum 150W ~200W. You’ll need great amount of heat. It’s only a brass item....
    Now, how’d you remove the Male or female plug and socket , once they have been pressed into the plastic holder? The only intelligent way to get the plug or socket out of the holder will be by snipping the cable very close to the XT150 socket with a sharp Cable cutter and press out the brass contacts by using a 30mm X4mm round steel pin to press the socket/plug outward. Once the pin/s slips out (you can feel it) you may use a pair of pincer to take out the item. There’s no other way you will be able to detach the Brass item. Good luck,

      They can be used for motors, or any other connection to mark a wire specifically.
      Can be used for series connectors, adapters, additional wiring.

Now I am going to throw away my non hobby king ones away.And order ones from hobby king. Who wouda thought that Hobby King would be the preferred brand of an item. Also love their XT90sI have 3 electric bikes and these XT150s are the way to go from controller to motor.

Amass does sell on Amazon. Sounds to me like u guys arent paying attention to what ur actually buying...

      If it helps, I'm new too but bought a top of the line battery charger (SkyRC 400W) and it came with all the different connectors - xt60, xt90, and smaller ones. You'll find if you stay with it, you'll start building an inventory of parts. Then get on TH-cam to figure how to use them.

    Been soldering all kinds of connectors, especially xt150s with my wood block jig, which is free and does not conduct or absorb heat.
    Vas's video on the different connectors turned me on to them, but He didn't do as good a job with the actual soldering. Felt like he ripped me off since I posted this and sent him the link, then weeks later he posted his version of soldering xt150 connectors..

    I don't understand why the sleeves are installed by pulling on the wire. This seems improper even if it can be accomplished. All the safety instructional material I have ever seen advise to never pull wires, yet this is how the sleeves are installed? I'd imagine there had to be a tool made specifically for installing sleeves on connectors especially if done in mass production. So far I have not seen it though, which is surprising.

      Many can be used. I've used Deans, Traxxas, but I prefer these or xt90. These have been my favorites of late. switched almost all my connectors to xt150, makes swapping batteries easier when the same connectors are used on multiple vehicles...
