I am an American.. Blue eyes in the orient... And I lived in Thailand for years.. This is one of the wonderful true street foods you can get almost anywhere in Thailand. I absolutely loved it.. I bought it at least once a week, if not more...! The bones of the fish just fall away, the flavor of the fish is preserved perfectly, not salt taste at all.. The sauces and fresh veggies make it a great 'share' experience. The only problem is:... I can't get it here, in the US... Sad but true...!
It's great to hear about your love for Thai street food! Recreating the experience at home or finding similar dishes at local Thai restaurants could be a fun way to reminisce. Thanks for sharing your culinary adventures! 🙂
U can substitute the fish with other type and barbecue / grill yourself. Sauces can be modified to your own liking . Plenty of sauce recipes on YT. Or get the ready made ones at the Asian grocers.
The salt crust on the outside of the fish may look offputting but underneath the meat is moist, tender, and flaky. I had it on my last trip to Bangkok last November, and I highly recommend it!
I loved the pla pao, which we had a few times (along with kor moo yang, grilled large prawns, grilled & fried pork intestines and Sing(ha) Beer, with durian and mangosteen for dessert) from a large Bangkok street food vendor stall and its plastic stool, metal folding table and hanging light bulbs sidewalk restaurant on Phaya Thai Road near Asia Hotel and the Ratchathewi BTS station. We also had it at the Khlong Lad Mayom floating market. One of my favorite Thai street food dishes! Aroi mak mak/saep lai der!
The fish looks very delicious, and at a great price. I look forward to trying some when I return to Thailand in August. Hopefully I can meet you and Jonny while I am there.
I love the way they cook this fish .... not let Mr Jonny eat all your fish . another good video Som you be 50,000 subscribers soon ... good luck Cheers
At least Som is putting out content, Jonny. Come on, bro. The GC gets boring without a Jonny Thai vlog once a week. To be fair, you're doing a great job on the camera, Jonny, and you're a busy man
Salt quantity can vary between restaurants. Since the fish cooks for just 13 minutes, the heavy rub is more for presentation than flavor. Thanks for watching Phillip 😊🙏
Where are you buying Tilapia for $100 in the US??? Tilapia in the US is considered a garbage fish raised in filthy aqua farms. $100?! Sorry, you're getting ripped off!
That looked awesome Som. Enjoy your day! 😊
Thank You 🙂
Looks amazing Som and Jonny! Well done as always. Keep them coming,
Thanks for watching 🙂
Som and Jonny, y'all rock! That looked delicious. Peace
Thanks for the support Ben hope you are well 😃

Som, do you know what the vegetable is that they inserted into the fish before cooking? Great video and say hello to Jonny for me.
looked like lemongrass
It's normally just lemongrass wrapped with kaffir lime leaves :-) Yes i will and thanks very much for watching

Texas📍
Hello Texas from Thailand :-)
Hello, excellent video, greetings from Los Angeles, California. I would love if you could tell me the ingredients of your sauces, they look delicious.
At least Som is putting out content, Jonny. Come on, bro. The GC gets boring without a Jonny Thai vlog once a week. To be fair, you're doing a great job on the camera, Jonny, and you're a busy man
What time the stores open?
Aroy mak mak!
Sure :-)
Third Thailand 🇹🇭😜
Hello Thailand 555
Does the restaurant remove the bones?
Looked lovely pity the fish wasn’t scaled 😊
Whenever I go out of my room, some thai people ask " Helo misterrrr, where you go"
Its that fish skin we cant eat it? Its too salt?
Wow, they sell over 150 fish per day, do you have any idea how much they pay for the fish from the fish farms?
THB50 maybe .
I thought there would be a lot more salt on the fish than just a light rub ?
Salt quantity can vary between restaurants. Since the fish cooks for just 13 minutes, the heavy rub is more for presentation than flavor. Thanks for watching Phillip 😊🙏
The red tilapia is my favorite…
Hap hap hap to the hap hap
Second Amsterdam 😅
Hello Amsterdam :-)
👍✅👍
4 to 5$ is very costly in India it is approx 1$
Tilapia is very common grilled fish I see in both Thailand and Burma. I would be very careful not to eat daily
That fish would cost $100 in the US

@@kevinp8108 You obviously haven't been to a Thai restaurant where they sell tilapia a quarter of that size for $20 to $30
250g tilapia in a thai restaurant for 1000 baht never in a million years !1
@@oSnapMillerTime
wow so expensive, Thailand very cheap 555
You look stunning 😍 can we be friends

She's good looking
holy cow she tried to speak English.
