The top dog combo of Minnie and Cass woeks really well. The personalities work well together, especially with Cass and the way she changes at the drop of a hat when someone she likes is in danger or insulted
I know- I always think that!! If I was her neighbour I would have reported her to the Animals Protection League or whatever they're called! I watch every episode and I always think; 'poor Major; he must be going nuts with loneliness!' Sad, nasty cow that takes every bit of overtime going and says it's because she has nothing to go home to. Could scratch her eyes out ;)
Lamp Shade I'd do more than scratch her eyes out for the sh!t that she puts the women (the decent ones at least), the officers, the governor and any other staff through. 😄😉
After watching the entire series several times I have finally realized Cass was also the woman that was trying to help Doreen when she was getting her divorce from Kevin. She looked so different.
I had to look this up and was shocked. A whole different person she was then and such a brief scene it makes sense you wouldn't catch on for a bit through a few rewatches. Anyone wanting to see this for themselves, it's Episode 174. Skip to the 36-minute mark.
So he then goes straight to the Governor, repeats what's he's been told, Anne sits quietly, listens and then, as with Davo, asks "where's your evidence?". Like there's going to be reels and reels of CCTV footage lying about.
Class is brilliant. You can spot a talented and well trained actress a mile off when they can turn from comedy to tragedy on a hairpin like Babs McMilllan can.
I just can't see it. She's a caricature. No depth to the character at all. No criticism of the actress who can only work with the lines/situations she's given.
I really like Cass. She's a sweetheart who struggles with a temper from time to time. I feel bad that Minnie's upset at her. Cass was only trying to protect the women and just wasn't thinking about anything else. Pixie seems a little less annoying now that she isn't so much in the spotlight. This episode ended full of suspense!
10:18 I love Colleen's po-faced expressions - this is a great one 😊 fabulous actress, and I think Colleen is often overlooked when she actually made a huge contribution to _Prisoner_ . No-one nails sarcasm as well as ol' Po-face 😂
Good episode. I'm enjoying the combination of Cass and Minnie, they work well together. Cass has the muscle and Minnie has the brains. I'll bet it didn't take Bea long to knock Marie off her perch at Barnhurst!
Yeah lol, shame they did not do the odd scene here and there of Bea at barnhurst lol. Then I suppose Val would not of gone for that cos she wanted to leave move on from Bea Smith properly and for good!!
Carlene Boulden Exactly. Of course, with Bea leaving the show permanently, it made the Barnhurst theme just an imaginary one for the viewers, but its fun to think about how scenes could have developed with herself, Chrissie, Marie and Vera altogether in the prison.
Barnhurst must be like a busmans holiday for her lol. As much as she disliked Vinegar previously, she must be like a breath of fresh air compared to the Freak.
You also have to remember that none of the prisoners are exactly bright, Minnie not handing the tape over to the Governor comes to mind. Joan gets away with things as she's smarter.
I really think they should have eased in her nefarious behaviour, as i think it would have had more impact later on. Instead, they went straight in with it from her first appearance. On a side note, i love hoe Wentworth portrayed the Joan Ferguson character.
43:46 :That tape would have given you all you needed to know about Ferguson" YES, SO WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE IT TO HER!??? Oh, wait...there'd be no show. Ok, carry on.
Reminds me of the UK sitcom 'Last of the Summer Wine' where every time Glenda says something her mother disapproves of whilst sat around the table with friends, she says 'Drink your Tea (or Coffee)' as a way to shut her up 😄
What with Joan being like a modern horror character lurking around the corridors, and approaching people in their cells at any moment during the night and day, and with Cass being noticed as a female Michael Myers now, no one in Wentworth is safe. 😄😃
When she grabbed Fergo's arm I instantly thought of Michael Myers. It was the stillness of her. The lack of movement from any other part of her body other than her arm, and the completely expressionless face.
ugh. Mr. Fellows is that one actor again that has been on this show in about 5 or 6 roles. he was a sailor, a judge, a lawyer, I don't know, he played so many parts and here he is again with a mustache haha

Them headphones Mitchell was wearing before she got bashed, I had a pair of them around the same time in my teens, they were from a Sony Walkman and cost £110, a bloody fortune then
Babs McMillan is now on _Talking Prisoner_ TH-cam channel. She talks a lot about her time as Cass, as well as when she played Erin Cosgrove in _The Young Doctors_ . She is a bloody good actress - the difference between Cass and Erin are chalk and cheese, showing the huge acting range Babs clearly has!

I completely agree. Both are the only TV series I have entirely on DVD. Totally stratospheric, they take you into their own world and keep you there. It's the characters and writing that does it. Plus they make me smile with some of the guest actors "ripe" performances and occasional wonky sets with the obviously (badly) painted backdrops. 😊
And who's got the nerve to tell him that? Well, maybe Mrs. Fellows but I expect she knows which side her bread's buttered on. Which is a strange simile because who butters both sides of their bread? Mind you, these Aussies are a funny bunch at the best of times so who knows.
If the writers wrote in the character Minnie as a top dog, then I'm Hulk Hogan! They must of been really low on funds to get a proper looking person to play a better top dog than her, the only place she could be a good top dog, would be an old people's homes. Lol
I think i can see what they were trying to do here. They deliberately tried to make her totally different to Bea which is a nice idea but they could have done it in a better way than this and with a more convincing actress.
It happens... I moved to Germany and after ten years I still don't speak much German. I got some books and tapes... but unless you can afford a really GOOD private tutor... it's HARD to learn another language. But yes, an effort should be made to at least learn the basics... (which I have done). It doesn't just happen with English speaking countries either. I mean, a lot of Turks live in Germany, and they don't learn German either... it works for ALL languages not just English.
Fair commet. I live in the UK (Scotland) and we have a fair mix of people migrating form all over. We have a lot of Eastern Europeans and my friend is a nurse and she was telling me that if someone is admitted or comes to hospital and can't speak English, they get an interpreter!! This costs at least £40 a hour!!! I think this is shocking and I believe the patient should be charged. I lived in Australia for a few years and it's very strict there and quite right too!!
I used to live in bonny wee Scotland, and now live in Oz lol. I love the weather and laid-back lifestyle here, but miss the beautiful Scottish scenery and banter. At least I'm able to pick up Irn Bru and Tunnocks from Coles or Woolies when I feel homesick tho. :)
Tricky Nicky. It's the same damn problem in the USA. the damn government here caters to every illegal and legal immigrants provides them everything in their native languages so there is absolutely no incentive for these people to learn English.
Cass Parker is brilliant, Babs McMillan is a very talented actor who can turn from comedy to tragedy on a hair pin.

Lol
Hahahha top dog in a old peoples home brillant
I think i can see what they were trying to do here. They deliberately tried to make her totally different to Bea which is a nice idea but they could have done it in a better way than this and with a more convincing actress.
How long do we have to put up with minnies voice
Too damned long. Dear.
I wish they had captured the Freak earlier!
12:00 Random outside shot.
34:20 why do people move to/live in English speaking countries and not learn the language?
Yeah like why do all the Australians and English people move to Spain to live in their own enclaves and not speak Spanish
Wally wants his end away without any of the commitment, its all the rage in the 2020s but was frowned apon in these days

38:17 Colleen asks if it's the "memo" - no more MEEmos now Erica's gone.
The actor who plays David Bridges is active on Facebook and has been recently posting photos of himself on Prisoner: facebook.com/davidwatersactor/
42:35 - so a miniature bottle of grog is a big no-no in the authorities' eyes.....but a large penknife is ok? Funny rules in these Oz prisons.
