What I'm about to say is not coming from an anti, I absolutely love him and his works, but I did not really enjoy this concert (this is coming from a person who never even went to a concert once 😀) mainly because of his stage presence and vocals. His stage presence is okay, but I only felt great joy in his performances of Hurt Locker and Around My Neck, which I wasn't really rooting for (I'm more excited for Happy Now and How It Ends) and that was really unexpected for me. His dancing is not captivating, in my opinion. He doesn't need to be a skilled dancer, but I wanted to see more of his movements, whether it is quirky or professional. I was hoping to see him really enjoy the stage and goof around, the thought of it makes me happy. For his vocals, I would say that it is great, but he sounded much better when he was sitting and playing piano than when he was moving around. It may be his exhaustion from walking around the stage, but I hope that he can practice more wih that matter; I'm not forcing him, but it can make a really big difference when you have practiced a lot. I am not hating on him in any way, and I have not seen his other Optimist concerts yet (and I wasn't there btw 😭) but I am sure that I will still enjoy his concert when I finally attended one. That's all and sorry if I came across as arrogant ❤
I have no inside knowledge, but I believe it may be in part due to his career as a producer. Musicians like Doja Cat for instance can - and have - spent way more time on learning dance, breath control, stage presence. Billie also has had a past as a dancer and it shows when she performs. Finneas however, spent most of his time writing songs, producing them, sitting behind a "Desk" for a majority of the day. I don';t think he spends many hours in a dance studio at all - Hell, I don't think he has many hours left in the week to even try. I also have a suspicion he doesn't much care for that side of being a "pop" star. Your opinions aren't arrogant - you simply have a specific way of enjoying concerts, and you're perfectly respectful in conveying that. You can still love Finneas' songs outside of his concerts, luckily.

Dude your thinking way too much. You don't have to write a critical essay of his performance like a music professor lol. Just enjoy yourself! Go to one of his upcoming concerts there are still a few left in the states I promise you won't regret it. The experience is completely different when you are there yourself vs watching a video. I went to his OU concert yesterday and thought he was a fantastic preformer despite the lackluster crowd energy.
