Both drivers were really really lucky, because it can ended up dramatically...
Only minor damages on both cars!
This section of the track you can easy reach 310km/h with a gt2 rs MR...
The GT2 rs MR are from belgium
let me fix the title for you
Caterham crash into a Porsche GT2 rs MR on the NURBURGRING fastest section!!
No, Caterham crash viewed from a Porche GT2 on the Nurburgring!
Clickbait alert!!!
In general the person who overtake are responsible of what he is doing, this is what they says at the briefing, even on that day they ask to overtake only by invitation, so that’s mean that the guy on front must put his turn indicator to show that he have seen the guy behind….not the case here 😮
@@sebastianvittel74
@@ariadnelecoutre9453no...look again.
Tjere is a GT2 RS involved in the crash so look at the video. Vitell is drivning a 992 GT3 on the video and are not involed in the crash
@@MPPe46m3I agree 💯 that fraction of a second should always be spent on BREAKING!! This is NOT a race, it’s driving ON a race-track, big difference.
All people saying to "watch the mirrors" to the carerham, actually you are completely missing the difference of speed of the two cars in that section, the fact that the catheram driver might have watched the mirrors when on the straight but the Porsche catched up later, and the fact that mirror visibility on a caterham is extremely bad and limited. Trackdays are not races so both drivers should put safety first, and overtake should be done only when sure about the fact the other driver has seen you and is inviting you to do that.
C A T E R H A M, simple.
You don’t overtake when safe on a track, if there’s an opening then you go for it. And if he saw the Porsche on the straight knowing he’s slower then it, should’ve hung out on the outside. Either way the Caterham is at fault
@@CHARLIE.S1K if its nurburgring track days then its basically a one way highway with similar rules.
@@CHARLIE.S1K Please stay away from the Nürburgring if you don't know anything about the rules. The GT2RS is completely at fault
@@CHARLIE.S1K no you don't overtake whenever there is a gap, this is why idiots like you cause accidents. It is a TRACK DAY, not a RACE event ... there is a difference. You are not setting laps, if you're not 100% sure then you don't overtake.
you can tell all the people in comments who don't know what they are talking about. The Porsche is trying to overtake going into the apex of extremly fast uphill. very dangerous...where is the caterham supposed to go? Even the porsche is on the wrong line to make that turn
Oh wow, glad everyone is ok 😬
Treat a Caterham like a motorbike.
Give them priority.
They don't have a windcreen.
You do.
if they would, we Caterham drivers were always in front ;-)
is that an 3rd party app you are using for lap-timing, or is it some build-in Porsche software? Wondering, b/c it looks like some carplay compatible application.
I bet the guy in the Caterham learned to check is mirrors after this.
Still not his fault.
his* mirrors
@@SurfinRacer It is his fault and his fault only.
@@MyRealName no, the guy who overtake him had the responsability the guy who upload the video say it
@@MyRealName You wish. I dont hope you got a drivers license. Your dangerous.
In my opinion: Porsches fault! If you are in position to overtake at the first half of the straight, do it, the other car had enoughe time to respond! But on the last 100 meters it is a bad idea. Especialy to overtake a caterham, couse, they brake later and carry more speed through the corner. With a Porsche 700HP GT2RS MR you can overtake a 200HP Caterham on every straight at the Ring at the beginning on that straights!!! You only have to be a little patient to get a good spot. The Mirrors on a caterham are often flimsy and have vibrations. I have one of the very fastest Caterhams in Germany and this example here is one of the worst example to mess with normal fast sport cars. Thankfully nobody was hurt. In this section a collision can be very very fatal!
Q. Is the Porsche the faster, overtaking driver? yes
Q. Is it an organised race or a track day? Track day
Onus is on the Porsche to only pass in a safe manner if given a clear indication to do so
The Anthonius curve is a full-send corner. Judgement is key when overtaking. The Caterham is claiming raceline while the GT2 realized too late that overtaking doesnt work and all he could do is brake while there is no space left other than offtrack which would have led to a more severe crash.
another reason to stay away from that road... full of clowns with more money than skills.
I agree. And most insurances do NOT cover you when in an accident. They will say it is a RACE TRACK. They say it is public road but it is bullshit.
That’s every track day. Very few, apart from those who’ve had genuine lessons can handle the cars they own to a high level. You need to crash multiple times to learn the limits and you just can’t do this on public roads, or even on track days. You only really learn the limits on proper training courses from other skilled drivers.
@@machohogan it's because "champions" like you that we have so many red flags on trackdays, too many crashes. Stupid mentality. You re not supposed to find your limits on trackdays. Normally there are rules to remind you to avoid that. And to be a really good driver either you start driving at 2 yo or it s still too late to understand the name of the game. Not my words, but Mika Hakkinen. And I totally agree with him.
300km/h 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I find it funny that the guy is wearing racing, fire retardant gloves while wearing short sleeves…
in 22 seconds of footage, failed to catch the crash
dont tell me if it was horrendous
At 0:04 you must look at the cars in front of the manual porsche
@@LucasNitulescu21 yeah far away, only now cus you told me
I still don’t see it, looks like the gt2 just driving around the cat crash.
Glad she is ok. Catehrams have limited visibility
Driving them on the limit is also very difficult in comparison to modern sportscars with (semi)automatic transmissions and driving aids (ABS, ESP, servo steering). Being aware of your surroundings while coordinating all the necessary manual inputs can be too much for amateurs.
@@syntheee You must know that before enter to the track. (Cool rhyme)
Open cockpit, can see everything. maybe just bad mirrors, so you have to TURN your head.
No A pillars, no obstructions, wide open ; the best Visibility of most cars.
most cars start to slow down at Antoniusbuche, at the compression. as they turn left; or is that Tiergarten Compression and then Hohenrain Schikane.
the left turn in is Tiergarten ?

Is that a App running on your PCM ? That's not sport chrono 😅
I think when looking at a crash this far back it's difficulty to say at certainly what happend exacly it looks like the cartaram moves over but they are approching fast left its not the best place to overtake esspicaly approaching late into a corner unless you know for sure they letting you by.
what app u have that works with car play? or is it android? that looks awesome.

i cant see a crash into caterham ...
Porsche call 911
more like the caterham crashed into the gt2 rs
Bro didnt even show the crash
A very good pilot on Porsche, he did pretty well in all decisions in front and signals behind
Caterham is at fault, perhaps the driver did not notice the Porsche covering ground very fast and it led to this......
Surely the overtaking car has to be certain before overtaking? Just watched Misha experience this (not this section) when a Ford Galaxy MPV cut across him, when he was overtaking in a VW Mk8 Golf GTI CS, despite the Ford indicating right.
Perhaps the Caterham had a problem milliseconds prior to coming together?
This is a track day and that is a dangerous thing the Porsche driver was doing. Ive noticed guys seem to assume so much, its scary being on track around faster cars. For me its the Porsche who is at fault as the car in front maybe didnt see them.
@@leah_gtthat doesnt make them at fault they were crashed into
Caterham 100% at fault. If you are on the ring YOU are responsible for maintaining a safe view of your surroundings, and sticking to the right for faster traffic. If you're unable to do that for any reason, then stay away.
@@banterman This is a track day so you need to use more caution passing into corners vs true racing. The Porsche was overtaking and was not far enough ahead when they went into that apex. The Porsche should have realized he was not going to make the pass in time and backed off, but instead sent it so fast into the apex he drifted to the right once past the corner, so he probably would have hit the Caterham even if it stayed to the right. I would say the fault is 60% Porsche and 40% Caterham. The Caterham should have seen the Porsche and stayed far right but that may not have been enough - probably should have backed off too instead of racing to the apex.
The caterham was in the wrong for not checking his mirrors.
The Caterham crashed into the Porsche (although I read what was written here). Not paying attention when moving sideways is a massive (and potentially fatal) error, despite the instructions to only overtake by invitation.
If this would be a full on race like the VLN, i would say you are correct and it would be the fault of the caterham driver. BUT, this a touristenfahrten trackday and there are other rules. You are only allowed to overtake on the left side IF it is safe to do so and at that spot, overtaking is dangerous as the driving line is the line from the caterham and turns into the left where the porsche should not have been. So this is actually the fault of the porsche driving for ignoring the touristenfahrten rules.

😮 oh
Boring Car is not natural asperaded engine 🤣
In my opinioni it's the caterham fault... but the porsche driver could have waited a bit until the caterham used a signal light to indicate... i mean we are not fighing for the 1st position of the f1 championship.... Rule num 1 is to drive home with the car in a trackday... i mean if i loose 5 sec and i manage to avoid a crash it's worth it

Porsche driver "could" not have waited for the indicator, he was "obliged by the rules" to wait for the indicator. You don't make up your own rules just because you have more HP under the belt.
Finger down 👎
Look, it's ALWAYS the Porsches fault, unless the other car is a BMW.
please... no crash/accident videos from public sessions

The Porsche was in the left lane, the Caterham moved into the left lane. 100% Caterham. Every day is fun on the Ring.
The Porsche did NOT just move into the left lane to pass, it was in the left lane a LONG time.
100% porsche dummy.
It was overtaking, and could clearly anticipate the line the Caterham would take. Porsche driver's fault.
Even in races most drivers are not overtaking people at that spot, why should you do it at a trackday
Not factual. Many overtakes occur in that area as cars are accelerating. @@C42ST3N 08.08.19 Spin
