I got one because I work inside vans installing equipment. Can be LOUD inside there. I used my surge to drive 5/16"bolts and nuts , metal on metal all day long. It constantly stalled when it is on #3 setting . I had to retrigger at least 3 times per bolt to ensure they are tight. It's like an over load protector kicks in. I now use a Makita with no problems. If all you do is drive screws in wood, go for it but if you use it for mechanics or solid materials and you wand it tight forget it.

If the cut out tool can handle cutting out electrical boxes in 1/2 inch sheetrock over 1/4 inch plywood. Haha, it was such a pain doing that with a multitool.

Electric/Battery based impacts most definitely are designed for drilling. (They tend to not be the best for huge load repetitive impact and “some” finish work is all.)
This tool has joined my work where noise and bulk is an issue. Along with the new generations of “quiet” air compressors? More healthy and productive work environments are in place....but the big boys are in the wings when needed. Important tool here for me and many others.

Did you get any oil build up under the rubber bumper?

U THINK having the tool on the wrong setting was a flaw in your testing? How about it WAS a flaw (operator error).

hmmm with the cut out tool I wonder if it's possible to use it to cut grooves to install weather stripping to a door frame

“Little Guys” that are designed to tackle the “typical” work we mostly do? Glad so much effort is put into these types of tools and it’s showing up in professional tools (while not being viewed as a “lesser than”). They are not!

Does the battery have a bit of wiggle with this unit? I noticed that on the Surge, the battery socket rattles a bit. I looked at Home Depot's test model and saw the same.

why were you trying to drill holes with a tool designed to drive fasteners.

    • @alabaster4263

FYI, Impacts are not designed to be used with paddle bits nor for drilling in General! They are designed for Fastening. Screws from small to large. They also are not made to take lug nuts on or off as a lot of meat heads on the internet love to throw huge sockets on impact drivers!

Dan actually they are. Most bits now a days are impact approved and ready.

I love the impact rated self driving paddle bits, and I like the impact rated small auger bits even more! They’re great for an electrician roughing in a house

I spent the day framing a basement (large). Went through 6lbs of screws just me and the Milwaukee hydrolic impact driver. I have been using it on and off around the house for 6 months now. I ran out of 2. 5 inch screws, but I was only 12 feet away from finishing so I started using 3.5 inch wood screws. It started off well for the first almost 8 feet of framing, then suddenly stalled over and over. Did it over heat? I switched back to my other Milwaukee driver... Wow it is noisey in comparison, but so much stronger I broker 3 screws before I changed my settings to lower tge power. I will retest the hydrolic driver tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone?

I just wish Milwaukee makes a surge with one key. I like the surge a lot and I would buy it but I can't decide between the surge or the one key. If they made a surge one key I would definitely buy it.

+Sculpin good point, it makes sense for them to make a ONE-KEY Surge. I'd go with the Surge of noise is an issue and the ONE-KEY if you're concerned about security.

Le Wis that would be an interesting test but I thing it goes back and forth, while the diamond blade on an angle grinder would be the best for that

    • @homerepairtutortoolsgear1607
      @homerepairtutortoolsgear1607  7 ปีที่แล้ว

+bniel798 picked up the blades today for cutting tile. I agree with your angle grinder statement but do want to test the cut out tool on tile
