I think Lan had already crushed on him in secret but took time to admit it. The ribbon just made it public and he got pissed that's all. Otherwise why would he always be where wei ying is? Always rescuing an already talented warrior?? Boy is whipped. He just needed time.. 13 years of never knowing whether his love died or not and his reincarnation to make the decision to be beside him and his silliness for the rest of his life. In a way he was already mated lol😂😂😂

LZ felt all the meaning that's in it so he was more annoyed and felt really bad about WY action.. also I don't think LZ is aware of his preference at this point so his anger here makes sense.

He was conflicted about his feelings. Lan Zhan was gay from the start. He is not shown to display interest for girls. He was attracted to Wei Ying since their first encounters, like fighting on the roofs in Cloud Recesses, when they went to deal with the Water demon, when Wei Ying made him a portrait. The drama has some differences from the book and the other adaptations, but he is quite clearly attracted and interested. Even with the censorship, the romantic and physical desires were hinted and pretty much obvious.

Or is it like, the Lan clan sees the taking off of the headband the same way religious people think of premarital sex?? Like "since you've done it you have to marry each other"??
the headband isn't magical, but Gusu Lan does see it as a symbol of restraint, so it's more akin to a spiritual thing. It can only be taken off by family or a partner
so taking off the headband would be a special moment between two partners because it would be a moment of removing restraints

@@wendymarvell1653 No dude... it's just a PIECE OF CLOTH in Gusu Lan Clan that have a very deep meaning.. it wasn't mentioned it have a spiritual something on it like the gusu robes, but In the novel it says it was made of a very good silk and can't be tear easily (this was when LZ tied WWX at the incensed burner scene🤭) just think of it like a underwear.. a very sensitive cloth, only you can only take it off, or your partner.. or you're family members when u are still bby/young.. 🤷♀️ lol

Is a rule only love ones can touch the headbands
The ribbon means that the wearer must be restraint until family or a partner can take it off. A partner for the gusu lan means having a partner through marriage. Wei ying isn't married to lan zhan during this time yet, so for someone other than family or a partner to take off the ribbon, is a big slap to the face for lz. Also, since wei ying was studying in lzs clan and the clan teaches about the ribbon and its meaning, lz probably thought that wei ying knew about the meaning and just didn't care. But the truth is, wei ying didn't know about the meaning of the ribbon, because he didn't pay attention in class 😂

@Anima Red although WY may have ruined Lz's chances of marrying someone else, he (lz) did not plan to marry someone else because he loves WY and for the gusu lan, loving someone is for life and only loving one person only. He was just trying hard to ignore his feelings for him, haha. It's just that tearing his ribbon off was disrespect ful, like as if WY was toying with his feelings. I'm sure lz wanted to marry WY in a proper gusu lan way, but WY ruined it (tearing his ribbon off). Though, you could also look at tearing his ribbon off as symbolic and ironic because they end up doing it before marriage, so it goes to show that lz changes (one reason being because of WY) in his later life and truly becomes unrestrained by the suffocating rules of the gusu lan clan.
This explain that WWX is LZ fated person. Look at that accidentally pulled the headband........
