    I'm not an expert but it might be smart to give those lifesteal morsels to a unit that can actually attack, like your champion.

    • @SlavaRybka
      @SlavaRybka 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      NL has this "well, let's have this unit have an attack as well" mentality, even though it barely scratches the front enemy. It may make sense on back units that hit after the enemy tank dies, but it is 100% pointless on a tank.

      He's seriously undervaluing the emberdrain cards. When planned around they're the strongest cards the umbra have, but you can't just casually play them. When he starts to get a feel for umbras in combat energy generation maybe he'll start taking the emberdrain cards more seriously.

    On the first boss, which single strikes, if you want a morsel to chump block, pick the morsel that isn't the miner to go in front. By putting it in front, the gorging unit missed out on 2 extra hp (which didn't matter) and 5 attack (which might have). Also, summon all the morsels before placing them so you can make an informed decision on where they go. Fun series!

    Have really been enjoying these videos. Some tips to improve I noticed throughout (which is much easier to spot as a viewer);
    22:24 : Furnace tap is amazing on your champion - you can't use energy during relentless, so the idea is to buff your champion right before (you can use permafrost to save it)
    24:47 : You could have used your feast to eat the morsels and trigger gorge damage before you lose 24 from their attacks
    34:30 : Revenge abilities don't trigger on death, unfortunately.
    35:08 : You noticed that you needed exactly 6 damage to kill the unit. In your hand you had Mine Collapse that dealt exactly 6, but you used it on a bottom floor unit and took 19 dmg to your pyre unnecessarily.
    36:21 : You are already having issues by splitting your morsels between your two gorgers, so it would be best not to use them on regular units.
    In terms of deckbuilding, I think making heavy use of both Shadoweater and your gorge champion ultimately sunk you. You were splitting your morsels between the two, resulting in some damage output from Shadow eater but a much weaker champion for relentless. Of course finding morselmakers would've helped, but I think focusing on buffing your champion first every turn, and using feast much as possible, would have served you better than splitting between the two.

    NL, I'm pretty sure you already know your hand is capped at 10 cards. You aren't supposed to cast retch first when youre looking for morsels. Several times you got like only 4 morsels, played them, then the rest of your hand, and then had like 8 empty capacity behind gorgers. Should empty your hand as much as you can before retching to get maximum value. You almost always have a ton of morsels in the yard.

    NL, good content as always, but here's a tip, Furnace Tap is not for morsels. It is to be used for buffing a good monster right before you go against a boss, if you've reached a part where the cards you draw don't really matter, or if you have other ways of generating energy. Same for Void Shield. Thank you and have a great trip.

    34:33 *It's hard to tell because you have the game so freakin' sped up* , but I think the problem here was that the lady died in a single hit, therefore she wasn't able to give her allies burnout. I've never noticed or been aware of this situation personally but that's the best explanation I can give. Edit: I went into the MT discord to check if you'd found a bug and no, the unit has to survive the hit for revenge to trigger. Good to know.

    22:44 Furnace tap isn't worth using just to make a really strong morsel. You can either give it permafrost and consume removal for a killer combo with resin removal where you remove the ember drain, or you can simply give it permafrost and doublestack (which doubles the multistrike as well as the rage and emberdrain) for a huge damage bonus against the boss when emberdrain isn't going to matter. There's also the elusive emberdrain deck but I'm not really qualified on that one.

    • @Nibas
      @Nibas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've also just put it on a huge unit and took the ember hit when I knew the boss was showing up in a turn or two. Sometimes it's worth not being able to cast for a turn or two if you think it will make your floor good enough to finish the battle.

  • @Pedroebut
    @Pedroebut 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great content. Just a little suggestion, to clean the bad morsels from your deck and work towards stacking only morsel miners (or rarer morsels) is the ticket. Regular morsels are not great for the late game, because you don't get enough time to scale since capacity becomes the limit, so you need better quality to keep up with the scaling.

    HEY NL, the Emberdrain cards are NOT meant to be put on morsels... please stop thinking this, it's meant to be a big up side card in exchange for having no energy the next couple turns, with more energy, Emberdrain is not even a problem. Your champion could have been a beast half way through this run and soloed the bottom floor if he had the two multi-strike cards and you just fed him.
    Endless literally did nothing on the Lady, waste of a card.
    Shadow Gorger is a tank... put some dps units behind it maybe for the floor to actually do stuff.
    NL:"Everybody is going to lose their minds if I don't take this melting card"
    Nobody lost their minds, its a trash card in this deck.
    Funny how NL just a few videos ago was saying how he thinks the gorge champion is the only good option now he thinks its the worst lol, good progress but they are all pretty balanced to be fair.
    NL why you not take the hp upgrade in the 2nd shop for your tank if you want it to tank.........
    Still rushes past every shop.

  • @lecram86
    @lecram86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tip: Not picking any creatures with harvest on an Umbra + Melting combo is a big mistake. Also, stop saving your burnout units so much. You want them to burnout so they can be out of your deck and/or reformed. Morsel miner is great but not as great to be reformed especially when you had retch and your morsel miner creator did not consume. Finally, not taking any chance to duplicate your moulding was your second big mistake.

    Also, keep on driving that train! Choo, Choo!

  • @Ghostneedle1
    @Ghostneedle1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem wasn't having a 'truly horrible bottom floor', it was actually investing too much into your utility, aoe bottom floor and not going hard enough on the top floor gorge triggers. Also considering how much capacity you already had, there's a case to be made that you should have just gone for gorge level 2 on your champion rather than getting too spicy with it.

    Man, you really love feeding the shadoweater for no reason. The buffs on your gorge champion are far more valuable as long as the shadoweater is gorging enough to clean up small units but jackstrips can sometimes do that for you anyway. Also consider playing out your morsels before deciding where to put each one so that you can correctly allocate all of the buffs, small micromanagements like this WILL make the difference.

    22:24 "so you are making one really strong morsel?" mah dude what
    Emberdrain cards aren't just for morsels, they are amazing for the boss waves, you just need to give it permafrost. Or if you get resin removal with melting remnant you can just straight up remove the Emberdrain everyturn of you give it holdover, you should really give it a try someday.
    EDIT: I also agree that the revenge not triggering when the unit dies after being hit is unintuitive and I would prefer if it did trigger, like spikes. I can see the argument that the unit needs to be alive to actually "enact the revenge" I guess but that just feels like unnecessary play on words.

      If nothing else, the description needs to be changed. It says it triggers when the unit takes damage, but it should say "survives" damage

    23:00 Yeah they are NL, and you best believe that I, the mald master, will be one of those people. You're calling fatal melting underpowered in the clain combo where it's actually the most op because consider this: morsels being eaten count as unit deaths too, brother. Edit: alright, you knew that but just didn't think about the maths enough to realize how good it is

  • @Zebo12345678
    @Zebo12345678 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    NL tends to try to convince himself to take bad cards/cards that don't fit his deck, then claims people will lose their minds because he decided _not_ to take those bad cards.
    ...that said, I get the feeling he forgot morsels die when they're eaten when he was evaluating A Fatal Melting. It probably would have been pretty good in this deck, since he was consuming many morsels every turn. He could easily deal plenty of damage with it if he had taken it.

    22:34 um I think it would work better on your champion or mega draff. The emberdrain reduces every turn but the multistrike will stick around as you continue to buff them during the battle.

  • @EmperorZ19
    @EmperorZ19 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Furnace Tap isn't for morsels just because it has emberdrain. Giving multistrike to the right unit can be worth dealing with the lack of mana
    Melting Remnant also has 2 cards that can remove debuffs, which makes for a super good combo with furnace tap and the other emberdrain cards

    18:28 NL, you really shouldn't decide whether or not to take the challenge based on a gut feeling. I don't think you even read what the challenge was going to be. Instead, seriously consider the risk-reward proposition and how your build can handle it because gold is at such a premium at high ascension due to things being more expensive. The challenge was merely that enemy units were going to appear on each floor which isn't a problem for you at all due to jackstrips but even if you didn't have that, the damage taken would be worth the gold.
