I’ve pulled and cleaned my starter twice this year.
It’s an ‘05 and it sounds like brand new.
I even greased the ⚙️.
Call me crazy but I “hate” bad starters.

Nice clean up, too much oil/grease on the pinion, the dust from the clutch, just loves to stick to it.

Yep, too much grease attracts dirt, which causes abrasion and wear.
