Finally! Someone who knows how to play a bass guitar like Phil Lynott. I've seen too many Thin Lizzy covers where the bassist has no idea how to attack those strings with a pick.
I don't know about you, but when he sings the boys are back in town, it gives off a different feel than the original. The original gives off a more "boys will be boys, and that's a good thing sometimes," vibe.
These AMAZINGLY talented (understatement!) young lads are so FANTASTIC - it's beyond mere words!!! I've followed all their unbelievable performances, and commented before - that is is so wonderful they have all stayed together!!! (Not ever forgetting their FABULOUS brass section, not present for this great cover.... Bands with twice the musicians just can't compare..... Eskil's vocal range and 'power' is mind boggling, and Andreas and Marius create and always maintain - a 'beat' that is so powerful and 'grabbing', never forgetting Joachim and Oyvind's incredible abilities on the guitar, as wonderfully highlighted in this classic hit, with their 'dueling' Les Paul's!!! WOW!!! But also - never forgetting Edvard Helvig's absolute MASTERING of those amazing keyboards of his!!! I'm guessing - he's your musical 'arranger' ?? i am amazed by your version. it is, imo, the way it should have been played in the first place. the music is tighter and the 11th chords at the end of each chorus perfectly tie up the loose ends that made the original sound a little disconnected. vocals were brilliant, too. thank you for turning a good song into a great song : )
Thin Lizzy is my band forever. This is the song that best reflects the group. This is one of the best versions, on par with Thin Lizzy with the lineup that recorded this song.
