The color-coded lyrics are great, but they're fan-made, so not always accurate. "Daeng" actually means "nope." So basically someone (i.e. the establishment, haters, rule-makers, etc) is telling them to freeze/stop what they're doing, and they are replying: "nope." To me, the song's about overcoming the things/people that stand in their way. They use their creative process and hard work to move forward/get back up if they fall, and they refuse to "freeze," or bend towards anyone else's expectations. Living their own art, speaking their own truths, ignoring rules that restrict their creativity, refusing to let haters dictate the narrative: these are probably the most important themes running throughout Stray Kids' discography❤.
Lots of people can't pick a bias, no problem at all, it's OT8. It's totally understandable, they're all so talented and they mesh so perfectly together and complement each other so well.
Since you really love the rap parts you really have to listen to stray kids rap songs. Ive recommended this list before but these are their rap heavy songs that show you they're rapper rappers and not just spitting 4 bars. Stray kids have the best rappers in kpop. 3racha Muddy Water I Got It by Han Mirror mirror by Changbin, Millie and F.hero Doodle by Changbin Maze of Memories We Go Heyday The Tortoise and the Hare
Thank you for this reaction. There are lore background on this if your interested w/the setting, newspaper, etc. I found this in my Stayville post-it library: One Stay put's it like breaking out of society’s mold and barreling down one’s own path. This was like playing freeze tag [ddang]. “Step out, the way I want,” they say in the lyric translation, “Move out, everyone’s movin’ the way they feel / There’s no time to wait / A huge iceberg obstruct in front of me / There’s no time to melt it, break it down”. Society’s norms are like block of ice freezing everyone in place, and Stray Kids wish to unfreeze themselves to become their own people. “Free me, free me from the things that kept me in captive / … / It’s like a prison break, unlock it all, freeze! / … / I ran out and took off my handcuffs / Freeze! Hit my frozen body / … / Like this, I’ll be the champion with victory in one hand”. And yes.. Stay have too much time on their hands.. 🖖🏽😁
"Daeng" got a lot of different meaning. Like "unfreeze" in freeze tag, "wrong" as in buzzer or just "nope." It is also onomatopoeia for ringing sound. I would recommend checking out Megaverse.
Yay, Freeze. Love this song, definitely in my top 10. Recommending some older songs... District 9 (debut song) Hellevator (predebut) Easy It's all good. A lot of people don't have a bias in Skz 😅
