Ironically, Kong: Skull Island supposedly takes place in the same universe as Godzilla 2014. Meanwhile, Godzilla actually exists in the Marvel Comics Universe, so that ending probably wouldn't be that outlandish considering the ending of Monsters Unleashed and the introduction of Kid Kaiju is basically the Marvel Comics' Kaiju Avengers Initiative.
