Which type chains are used?
Are these available in the US? I have a large section of very rocky ground that is very difficult to use a traditional blade-style PTO mower, hitting rocks, chewing up blades, busting shear pins, etc. I've considered a chain flail mower, but this looks more practical... basically the same design as a traditional mower, but chains.

Just buy heavy chain and swap the blades. Or take an old blade set and cut half the end off, drill a hole in it and add a few links of chain to the end.
What the difference betwen chains and blades ?
Chains are better for rocky terrain and they do the same job.

@@dkoolkool8103 in terms of maintenance, chain are cheaper because they don´t need to bem sharpened. Fuel economy maybe the blades have less fuel consumption.
