This tent has lots of serious issues; wrong sizes, design defects, & manufacturing faults. I show you them here. Worth checking out this video before you consider buying one of these tents!
Should have been named Olproy (anagram for ‘poorly’, as in made). Serves to demonstrate the fantastic value of decent fair weather and 3 season tents by the likes of 3F UL and Naturehike, which often dont cost a great deal more but are (alloy) poles apart in terms of design and execution. The Mongar 2, and the Lanshan being just a couple of really great value tents of this category. Thanks for sharing your experience on this one Charles, and hope you had an enjoyable trip along the Machir.
Thanks mate. I’ve got to agree with you. I ended up getting a Naturehike Cloud Peak; a whole different quality!! South Uiist was great. I’m walking North from Tarbert today, and it’s hot & sunny! ☀️
Thanks for the heads up about this tent Charles. Regarding the Helm Compact One; yes, it's a fantastic tent, really well made but it has a major drawback - the interior is too short for anyone 6 foot tall and over. I just sold my Helm through Facebook but I asked the buyer for his height before selling on as I didn't want him to inherit the same issue. Fortunately he was 5' 10 so he got a great tent. I still can't find a better tent than my Vango F10 Helium UL2...or 1.5 in the real world. It's, extremely robust in wind and rain and very roomy inside for one tall (I'm 6'2) camper. Also it has a large vestibule and a cinch to pitch.
I really like the look of the Vango, and it was under consideration before I opted for my Lanshan 2. How do you get on with the height on the inner? Is there enough space to sit up comfortably if you're tall?
i know £80 isnt the most, but i tend to avoid the ones for around this money as they do tend to be made from cheaper materials. the inner looks just like the compact 1 apart from the obvious zip issue. good job they took it back and at least you're not lumbered with it or even worse you didnt trial pitch it prior to going out!
Yep; if it looks too good to be true... etc etc The important thing for me is to prevent others from being duped into spending money on a defective product.

Could B good with a few tweeks, but seems like abit of a balls-up really...😐 I also really don't understand the reason, purpose/concept behind a Red trim on a Green tent...!???🤔🙄😄🤯 I actually looked at the Soloist XL today i kinda like it, extra length, but there's no footprints available, but maybe I'll get one anyway & bother about that later...🤣 I have the Olpro Knightwick2, within the 15 tent+ collection...😳😂 & it's a very nice quality tent, but this was abit if a let down...!😔
Yes, a real missed opportunity; it could be a very appealing tent if they had taken just a bit more care with the design & manufacture *sigh* The soloist is a well-respected tent, but the steep sides make it vulnerable to cross-winds, and the vesitbule is very small, so be careful.
There really doesn’t seem to be any mid ground in decent camping equipment does there?.. it’s either cheap and rubbish, or cheap and weighs a ton. Or sell a kidney time! I just invested in a Nortent and though pricey, is fantastic. I also have Terra Nova tents and you really do get what you pay for with those, though like you I picked one up second hand! I’d trust it in a hurricane. It survived the big storms on new years with barely a rattle!
Too right, sadly. I know nothing about the manufacture of this tent, but it makes me wonder whether it would be much more expensive to have better quality manufacturing. The materials and poles etc seem alright, so it has loads of potential - Just think how many Banshee tents have been sold! It was important to me to warn others about the tent, so that they don’t waste their time and money

No issues with head room for me Charles, including the crucial early hours “Nalgene bottle” requirements.

The ground tapes are too short???
I agree. It’s a very basic thing but makes a huge difference to how the tent works. Unfortunately it’s just one of many things that are wrong
