  • SMK is quickly becoming a popular helmet brand in India thanks to its compliance with ECE standards (European Safety for Helmets) and budget-friendly price tag. The Titan is SMK's Flag model and, unlike most of the helmets in this price band, sports an outer shell made up of Fibre which is a material that improves the safety factor of a helmet multifold by dispersing the area of impact in case of a crash.
The review is my opinion of the helmet which I have formed by using it for about 6-7k km of riding in multiple use cases.
Here are some quick FAQs that I have not mentioned in the video:
Q - Good for road use?
    A - Yes. Very
Q - Visor good for night rides?
A - Yes. Satisfactory if maintained well.
    Q - Good for off-road use?
A - For fast trails, it is OK but not meant for heavy/technical trails.
    Q - Spares are cheap?
A - I think so. Visor replacement costs Rs 600 for a clear visor.

Excellent video. Most importantly, I wanted to know about the noise levels, and that is a big no-no for me. Would you mind suggesting some good noise isolation helmets for a budget of 10K-12K? I am currently using an SMK helmet, but there is too much wind noise, so I am unable to ride comfortably. Thanks in advance.

I am really tired of YT channels which show the same lame unboxing and usual blah blah without any discussion on Pros and Cons and finally end up as a poser for few likes and subscriptions. This one is a perfect review by a rider with attention to details like the material used, placement of Sena, wind noise in the helmet etc. Keep it up buddy and looking forward for more reviews with attention to details...more power & miles to you. You have a subscriber and like from me. :)

Using Carbon fiber won't actually Made up the Helmet Strong it's the technology Used nd the way that composite is layed in the Helmet in which SMK had failed

Love your emphasis on wind noise. Not a lot of folks focus on it. One of the most important pointer for touring helmets and Bluetooth use.

      Long story short kartein.
      VFM - V6 Vnetphone (Rs3500 onwards)
      Overall best - Cardo Pactalk
Installation is dependent on your helmet but mounts are provided with the product. I prefer to Velcro it to my helmet... basically two way 3 M tape the velcro and the back of the intercom.

Extremely to the point and well made overview. I am not going to buy this as it's loud. Can you suggest any good lid which is silent enough for touring

    • @tallguyrides792

Have owned SMK, Klim, and Axor (So far) all of them are fairly loud. I have heard that MT helmets (10k+ price range) are better in terms of noise. I always prefer to wear earplugs as no helmet is immune to windblast noise...

Hey! bro is this helmet suitable for long ride? 1850gm seems little heavier, will it cause neck pain?

One gets used to it… but if you have a sensitive neck/had neck injuries or issues then better to avoid… you can get the Axor Carbon Warfare (name is something like that). It weighs less than 1300gms.

Hi Bro...very detailed usage review 👏👍
I would like to buy this but I am not getting one anywhere in hyderabad
    i. May I know if you have purchased this in online or offline store?
ii. If it's offline store then do they courier it to Hyderabad?
iii. What's the size of helmet you used in video?
iv. Why do we need to pick SMK carbon helmet over AXOR carbon helmet? Is it because of brand value?
    TIA

    • @tallguyrides792
      @tallguyrides792  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Ty for your comment. Answering each question as per the serial:
      1. Bought it in an offline store called MotoCentral. It is based in Pune.
      2. They have a website and they do ship products. I am not sure about their stock.
      3. Its an XL size.
      4. Axor Carbon Warfare wasn't out when i bought the Smk one (that and/or I did not know about it). The big difference is that Smk Titan is a fibreglass/composite helmet where as the Axor is totally carbon fibre... an expensive material... I am not sure how many layers they can afford to put in such a low price tag... the thickness of the outer shell might not be adequate... I suggest you read the product material in detail before purchase. I think both have ece 2205 certification so both should be robust enough to pass the test... but by how much... we might not know... 😅

Most of you tubers mentioned it’s a very silent helmet. But your review on Noise inside helmet is different. Is it because you ride it with chin vent open or something else?

    • @tallguyrides792
      @tallguyrides792  ปีที่แล้ว

I guess the other TH-camrs may have tested this in different conditions. My core test for this video was a 600km highway ride from Pune to Hyd. While going out, I had closed the vents once I realized the wind noise was on the higher side (first 100kms). By the time I got to Hyderabad, I had partial hearing loss and very sore eardrums (they were paining quite a bit and every noise around me was muted). On the return journey, I taped the visor down to completely close any small gap, closed the vents, and put cotton in my ears. The return experience was better. Both journeys were fairly quick with an average speed of 80kmph. Or maybe my hearing/ears are sensitive and thus the wind noise through this helmet caused me more distress than it did to other TH-camrs. Either way, now I always wear earplugs on my longer rides/tours.

Thanks bro for the clarity. Currently I’m using MT helmet, I never had a wind noise problem while riding my CBR250 fully faired bike but same helmet when I’m driving My interceptor (nacked) making lots of wind noise to a level of deafness. Currently I’m using earplugs.
Can you suggest me a Helmet with good wind noise cancellation.
