    I’ve been a Seamwork member for a year and a half and I love it! I like that they have sewalongs on many patterns, and a lot of patterns! The cost per pattern for me is very reasonable and I’ve made 10 separate patterns, some multiple times, and I’ve been very pleased with the result. Nothing but positive to say about Seamwork!

    I just watched your video and enjoyed your review of the Seamwork patterns. Glad you are learning what you like and what suits you best along the way. We all make garments that for one reason or another we don't wear or like. That's part of this craft of sewing. I really like that you are using some upcycled fabrics. I often recycle my own makes that end up not fitting well or looking good when I finish them. BTW love your white linen dress with the birds you printed on the fabric. I actually loved the white on you and the first longer length. It was super cute on you! Thanks for haring your creativity and passion for sewing.

      Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts. It can definitely be frustrating putting so much energy into a make, just for it to not turn out "right". Like so many things in life, we need to look at it as a valuable learning exercise.

    I enjoyed your evaluation of makes and patterns. Its a great way to approach our wardrobes.
    The green dress will look good on you if you keep the buttons open and the chest a V. Pair a belt and summery sandal style.
    You do not enjoy drop sleeves, but in Soft fabrics they work.
    The dotty blouse is gorgeous, can wear it with scalloped wool skirt, which will be smashing on you.
    The potato avocado dress is gorgeous ! Cheffs kiss. I want to try that😊
    If you colour your hair copper, alot of these colours will really come alive on you. Its a brave move, but it will really work for you, and with your tastes in colours.
    Your figure is great and you might find staying away from boxy clothes, leaning more into softer fabric drapes, v necks and waistling emphasis. Your skirts are perfect.
    I enjoyed your discourse here.
    Thankyou.

      Coloring your hair doesn’t make colors look better on your skin. When you wear the right colors, your skin will sing!

    I’m only half way through your video, but, I’d like to tell you something that I would enjoy. It would be so helpful/appreciated if you would leave the pictures of you in the garment up on the screen the entire time time you’re talking about them. I like to refer to the garment as you make the comments and I found myself going back way too much. Also it takes me longer to make my analyzation of how it might fit on my body than the minimal moment you have the picture displayed. I know I’m new here, but that’s my initial takeaway.
    Like I said in an earlier comment. I enjoyed the video and am looking forward to following you.

      Sometimes TH-camrs can only show a picture a limited amount of time before they have to pay.

    I'm a seamwork member and I was just contemplating my membership. I have made an effort to participate in the community. I have made 10 or 15 patterns - haven't really figured out sizing, although I have some makes I really like. I feel like the patterns aren't very polished. To contrast, I bought the trouser course from Cashmerette and my toile came out almost spot on. (That cool waistband!) That pattern (Meriam) has so many details that make it feel sharp. And the sizing information in the pattern and then course really helped me think through what adjustments to make. I have another 6 months. We'll see...

      I've heard that from a lot of people! I think Seamwork has its place, but not everything can be for everyone.

    I canceled my Seamwork subscription several times, then came back again when there was an interesting pattern. I miss Colette patterns. Many have disappeared from the offer. It makes me angry that they keep increasing the price. From the subscription for $6, then $9, now it's $16. Just last month I canceled my membership because it doesn't make sense to me. It's expensive for something you don't use. Since 2018, I haven't done anything of theirs. I also made a plan for a capsule work wardrobe, but then other patterns turned out to be more interesting.

      Great points. Almost makes more sense to just buy the individual patterns that are must haves

    I was a member and I think there are good things about joining, like the sew a longs and magazine. I didn’t connect with anyone in the groups either. I did learn more about sewing as a new sewist.

    Hi Katelynn. Have you ever tried the assembly line patterns? I guess because you live minimally I thought of their patterns. Their styles are very minimal and easy to style and wear. I really like their patterns. Looking forward to hearing your new changes. 😊

      I have not! I have heard of them, but haven't spent time on their website. Might have to do some browsing! Thank you 😊

    I have had seamwork for 6 years. And I have not made any of their patterns. It sounds like the patterns have a lot of ease just like the big 4 pattern companies. I am starting to use indi patterns. I have liked the Closet Core patterns, Papercut patterns. When one sews, Its like put it together, then disassemble it, make the alterations, and then resew it the second time!.... Overall its a long process.

      6 years and not one pattern?! I'm curious why you've kept it all this time?

    I had seam work for a year, I like their patterns but I ended up downloading a bunch due to already spending the cash on the sub. I like the patterns but the monthly cost was def not worth it to me. I’m a thrifty gal so the cost per pattern was what I was looking at.

    • @seasonallyproductive
      @seasonallyproductive  ปีที่แล้ว

      We'd get along well! Once I realized how much it was costing me per pattern that I actually used, it wasn't worth keeping

    Why did you pay with the palisade shorts? That outfit was super cute on you-style wise.

    I'm seamwork. I enjoy the community and the podcast, but the one pattern I made turned out awful and they don't show a diversity of body types. So I'm going to try a few more patterns but may not be sticking around

    • @seasonallyproductive
      @seasonallyproductive  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree. They usually have 2 models in very different sizes. I understand it can be costly to see for 10 different individuals, but those designers who do feature home sewists (pattern testers), are often much more relatable.

    One other thing, it sounds like you make things in colors and fabrics you don’t like. That’s not ideal to be sure. Perhaps choosing a fabric you love and then selecting an appropriate pattern would give you better results. The mustard Ace was pretty, but I know that color is terrible on me, so I’d never make it in that color.

    • @seasonallyproductive

      Hmm. Interesting that you got that impression. I don't think I would make something with raw fabric that I don't like.

    Girlfriend, stop using colors out of you color pallet! Learn to be more protective of the your good material and forsake the one's that aren't best for you true beauty. PS You look great in collared shirts. Nice work.

    Most of this seems like user error, nothing to actually do with Seam Works. (Choices of colors or fabric type)
    No pattern fits anyone just perfectly, That’s were “fitting” comes in. Fitting is intimidating for me and I’m still learning
